I don't think you can exactly compare Soarin' to a ferris wheel. A ferris wheel goes 'round and 'round. Soarin just takes you up in the air and stops there. The front row goes about 45' in the air I guess. I think the best way to do it is to get on the last row of cars so you won't be as high in the air, and you can see peoples feet dangling above you which takes away some of the shock of the first row, where you do not see any feet {you are on top}. Went on with DS and Bil {DW just did not feel well that day} DS was terrified just looking at the mechanism of the ride. It is so huge, and you can see all the steel beams and gears that make up the ride, although you do not see this once the lights go out and the show starts. She tried to get off, but BiL told her it was too late once the CMs left the area after checking the safety belts. Once the ride started to go up and the movie started, she was thrilled, as we all where with the ride. Don't let it scare you, just go!
The best way to do it is to get on the last row of seats, buckle up, and close your eyes as the ride moves upward, and open them once it stops going up. {only takes about 5 seconds} Actually, they put the lights out before it starts, so you can't really tell how high up you are. Just remember, LAST ROW. Oh yea, they also turn the lights off at the end of the ride before it goes back down, once again, not really being able to see that you are up in the air. Go, and have a great time, it is one of the best rides at WDW. {I don't do thrill rides,by the way}
