I have just recently purchased an AP for our trip starting this Saturday (YAY!). We're also going for Easter week (4/8-4/14). BR just came out covering these dates.
I have a couple of choices and just don't know what to do.
I can do courtyard view WL at $232/night + tax on BR.
I can do a moderate at $110/night + tax on BR.
I can do a moderate w/ AAA at $148/night + tax and then purchase the dining plan for $98/night (2 adults, 2 kids 3-9), but I would also have to purchase 1 day base tickets (which I would hold until I renew my APs in November of 2006).
I guess I have to first decide on whether I want to spend the money on the deluxe hotel. I have a friend here who is a frequent visitor and actually told me he liked POFQ more than WL for a number of reasons and that he would save the money and go mod. We stayed POR in June and enjoyed it, but we were hoping for a better rate at WL (unfortunately, there are no standard or woods views offered on BR).
I have a DDE card so I can save 20% on all my sit down meals, so if I go with the $110 BR rate, I might not actually spend the difference of $136/night ($38 more a night for the room to the AAA rate + $98 dining plan) on dining out of pocket. Plus, if we're not on the dining plan, we just don't order that much food (not going to have dessert for all each meal and probably only have 1 appie for the table).
I wish I could be sure of what I wanted to do. Once I book BR, the deposit is non refundable so I have to be sure it's what I want. I can always book AAA and then cancel before 45 days if something better comes along (or I decide to go a different route).
Just so confused! Anyone able to offer some sound advice (or a different perspective)? I really feel like I have to decide soon, as many of the rooms are sold out for that week already.
