OP - you mentioned earlier that you have savings but are just trying not to use it for this trip. How about borrowing $3000 from your own savings. Keep cutting your spending and use that money to pay your savings back in a reasonable amount of time. Problem solved.

I hate it when that happens to my hot tub. Oh wait, I don't have one.

OP, it would be difficult for me to come up with 3000 in five months, but if I were able to buy a million+ dollar home, boats, and other such stuff, I would think $3,000 would seem like chump change.

Makes it seem like this thread is designed so that the OP can brag about the things that he has.

What a hoot!:rotfl2: I was at first sorry for this person but see now what a good time he is having at reading all the well meant suggestions to his "problem".

I am also having a good time reading all this:lmao:

Have a good day all and don't take every thing you read so serious:dance3:

Sometimes in order to get to your ultimate goal, you have to sacrifice some things on your trip. If you are not willing to settle for other things (ie - lugging your stuff on the cruise ship vs leaving it in a parked car, which imo, is a bit risky), then maybe you should reconsider going at all. I love Disney like crazy but when I go, there are certain things I'm not willing to settle for, just to say I went to Disney. We had a case of this for the last couple years. We wanted to go in 2006 and 2007 but funds weren't available. Yes, I could have done it by dipping into savings or paying for it by credit but why put myself in that position. We finally got to go in 2008, thanks to some extra cash that came in (by the way, we stayed 5 nights on Disney property with tix, hotel, and airfare for less than $3000).

Our kids had gift cards for their souvenirs - yes we bought them some stuff but we didn't go overboard.

Maybe you should rethink your trip and postpone for when you don't have to scramble for that much cash in such a short period of time.

Sell the boats and seadoos. Maybe even the house. Disney always comes first around here. Or hey- you could rack up the 3 grand on a credit card, then when your big stock tip comes through, pay it off. Hey, why not, you only live once. Live it up in Disney, spend $5,000!! Show the family a good time. Be the big shot. Be da man!

Yes, this exactly!

Sorry I didn't read all the posts but we do a big craft sale, that pays for our trip. Are you "crafty" at all? Maybe doing a couple of sales would pay for it?:)

could you please list your expenses for the total trip? How many people in your family? I would like to compare to see what I am doing wrong?

What am I suppose to do when something breaks or something I do to save money and you turn it around like I'm bragging, its complaining about the upkeep on household stuff, what are you saying nobody has a hot tub? Most people do have a hot tub.

Just a guess, but I'm thinking it's $100 per house for the season...that seems more reasonable.

My neighbors driveway has to be a 1/4 of a mile long, they are getting a deal for $100 or snow removal, do you know how many cubic yards of snow that is?

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

I guess I should have posted like this:

I did something to the neighbors driveway and house. I winterized some things that I can't tell you, I have a second job that pays about $100/hour, I invested some mooney and made some, I repaired something that is soothing to the body. To me, you would all get the wrong idea so I told you what is going on. Sorry if I offended anyone.:surfweb:

I don't think that its a problem owning a hot tub.....But when you come to the budget board and say that you need $3,000 for a trip to Disney and you list that you live in a Million dollar home, have a boat, seadoo's, hot tub etc...etc...etc....it definitely comes off as being very much a braggart. Hard to muster up my sympathy for someone that has ALL that, and is crying poor mouth. Next we will hear that your poor maid broke her leg, or your second home in Aspen burned down.....

 No hot tub here!

This isn't really embarassing but a trick I have learned is if you are going to pay admission to something like a car show, pull out some Canadian money and look for the someone that won't be able to make the currency exchange and they will just let you in because they are to embarrased to say they don't know how to exchange it. Works 9 times out of 10.

Wow!

This thread has been to me like watching a train-wreck. I just keep coming back to see the disregard of common sense.

Wow...not even sure what to say or where to start. I can say that all the hints and help of everyone here are the best as i followed them and saved $4000 for spending money in 3 months. We are flying across the country and staying for 24 days for 5 people and had to save for a while to come up with the money to do the trip and then the budget board helped me come up with all the extra funds to do everything we wanted plus some....

So thanks to you who so generously share all your tips.......

Off i run to get more popcorn as this is some great free entertainment :rotfl2:
