I just got my new Canon S5. I opened the box and oh my the books that come with it. How did you guys learn to use it? I don't think I will ever understand everything in those books.

I'm a reader so I turned to books first for lots of basic information. Take a look at this thread for some reading suggestions. But most importantly, just keep taking pictures!

So, DH bought me PSE5 for my birthday Of course I had to play with it. So, my first project was to add a frame and a watermark (cuz my pics are in high demand ) But anywho...here it is... Oh, and I didn't alter the picture. Yet. I thought it was pretty cool. I went outside to take a picture of the very cool sunset, and when I turned around there was a rainbow. I got like 2 pictures that looked "real", the rest were either bad, or like this one. Which, although looks not like the sky looks, is pretty neat. Bad exposure doesn't ALWAYS turn out bad...

This was the first time in all of our trips I went with Photography in mind! These were taken with the Canon 400D/XTi and the Sigma 18-200 OS lens. I am very pleased with the camera and the lens and proud that I'm really learning REAL photography! I am definitely a newbie but its sinking in, FINALLY! Below are some of the better ones:

Yes I used a lightweight tripod and a cheap remote from ebay.
