Canceling our trip for WDW marathon weekend because of Covid

Is anyone else considering bailing because of the uptick in Covid ? Tough call but its scary out there
We are contemplating canceling due to covid as well, travel restrictions are starting to return for Canadians heading to the USA. Still thinking about it, don’t know what we should do.

I'm not planning on canceling, but I have modified my expectations a bit. Even 2-3 months post booster shot, I will be more careful and avoid "higher risk" activities. I wish I knew how I will define these "higher risk" activities, but it is still a bit early to tell.

We did cancel the family trip because our son missed more than 2 weeks of preschool and we didn't want to have him miss more. My wife also burned through her PTO so needs to earn that back.

I am still going but solo just for a long weekend. I am vaxed, had covid in December, and will be boosted but I'm still going. I'll mask up indoors but I think I'm fine all things considering.

Everyone needs to make their own decisions, I don't think anyone should go if they feel apprehensive.

After completing my 18-mile run yesterday (~2.5 hours), there is no way I'm canceling. However, I have changed some holiday plans to mitigate risk (i.e., only gathering with immediate family vs. extended family) so I don't get sick with COVID before Marathon Weekend and am not able to fly. Additionally, we'll be more careful while we're on the trip. Like someone else mentioned, I'm not sure what that is, but we'll know when we're there.

I am hopeful (maybe naively) that things may be better than they are now in two weeks.

Cancelling is not an option. I’ve been masking in public, I got boosted 2 weeks ago, and I’m home 90% of the time. my oldest 2 get tested weekly so they can participate in sports, and everyone in our house that is old enough to get vaccinated/boosted is. I’m actually LESS apprehensive about traveling now than I was in say....August of 2020 when we did an anniversary trip because we know so much more about COVID now, there are known effective treatments, etc.

Same. My concern is testing positive and not being able to get on a plane back to Canada. I have a couple of backup plans but I'm wondering now if it's even worth it. I keep changing my mind.

Yeah I think this is basically where I’m at. I’ll be heading out to visit immediate family on Christmas Eve, but I might pass on the plans the following day to visit the extended fam. A few people I know likely caught it (two confirmed, one test pending) and are experiencing some symptoms, nothing crazy, but the sort of thing that would keep me off the plane if it lingers.

I'm so torn. I'm immunosuppressed due to a transplant but have had three doses of vaccine. My husband is boosted, kids are vaccinated but it's still a hard decision. This was going to be a full 10-day family vacation and the kids are SO excited. I think we will probably go ahead but maybe cut out indoor dining and just spend more time hanging by the pool. Also considering driving vs flying (from Massachusetts) but I'm honestly not sure which is safer!

We did this as well. We are not doing any gatherings at all. We are meeting up with a cousin outdoors so our kids can exchange presents and we are getting together separately with two other family members but that is it. All the rest will be over Zoom.

I'm going to do everything I can to get to the start line. That being said, this race in particular has a lot of meaning to me. First full, first Dopey, etc. I'm boosted, being extra cautious at home in an attempt to mitigate risk (I don't want to get it before going), and I've made peace with the risk I'm taking by being there. It's worth that much to me. If it were any other race or a local race, I'd probably just cancel though. I also don't have little ones or high risk family memebers that live with me.

I've considered cancelling, and decided against it. My plans have always been very conservative though: No indoor dining, masking whenever indoors in public (KN95 mostly), masking when in crowds even outdoors (probably medical mask). Only big change is I was planning to take Mears Standard shuttle, but I dunno about air filtration (and I figure the windows won't open), and it might be a long ride with lots of resort stops, so I'll opt for Lyfts instead.

I figure there's still a chance I'll be infected, given how transmittable omicron seems to be. But I'm vaccinated and boosted, and it's a chance I'm willing to take. My mental health really needs this race weekend.

We are not canceling, but we are getting the booster shot. I already had one and my husband and daughters are getting them later this week. Our friends who are going with us have also already had the booster. Bringing plenty of masks and will be as cautious as we can be about using them. I'm not running, but I think my husband and his friend are planning to wear them in the corrals.
