Cancel an ADR Same Day?

We haven't been to WDW since they started charging a fee for cancellations at ALL TS restaurants. I'm used to booking a restaurant in advance, but continuing to try to get into a favorite one. This often results in getting the favorite the same day. If I have a 5:30pm reservation at Spice Road Table for example, but at noon that day I find one at Garden Grill, will they let me cancel the Spice Road one without a fee?

No, you will be charged. You have until 11:59 the evening before to cancel. You can try to have it reversed but there are no guarantees.

Best bet is to call the reservation line and ask to "change" your current reservation to the new restaurant - worked for us a couple of times.

You won't get dinged as long as one person shows up. It's a no-show fee for the reservation, not for each individual.

I think that is changed. When I made my reservations the disclaimer stated $10 no show fee for each member of the party will be charged to your credit card.

October 30th of this year I called to cancel at 10:40PM and the CM could not find my reservation. Not by my last name, by my phone number or by my email address. She said if I had the actual reservation number or the exact time my reservation was for at the restaurant (BOG) then she could find it and cancel it. I was actually in my car and driving from AKL to POR so I didn't have those details. She said the dining reservation line closed at 11PM so I should get it and call back immediately or I would be charged.

I got to POR at 11:05 and went right to concierge. They close, at least at POR, at 11PM. The staff at check-in/check-out also could not help me because they "shut that system down at 11" each night. The CM said I would be charged.

Nope. The fee is based on the number of people, but only charged if nobody shows up. If you make a reservation for 6 and don't show up, you'll be charged $60. If one person shows up, there's no charge.

You can cancel online up until midnight. Any method that requires a person to help you shuts down at 11.
