We will be taking an elderly person to MK on a day that closes at 7 for the MVMCP. She will not want to ride any rides but would like to see the fireworks. If you are already in the park can you stay later without getting cookies or riding open attractions?
The only way to stay in the park for the party is to buy tickets to the party. You can go to the Contemporary and watch from there, watch from the beach at the Poly and even watch from the beach at Fort Wilderness. It's not just about the rides and the cookies: there are special character meet and greets and a special parade as well. Plus the snow on main street.
Can you move your MK day to a non MVMCP day? I know that your elderly companion won't ride the rides but, if you can't change your MK date, consider doing the party. I can highly recommend it.
You must purchase a ticket and wear a wristband to prove you paid. After 7:00 p.m. the CMs will be checking for wristbands and if your party is not wearing one you will be asked to leave.
We went to the MVMCP for the first time last year. They wouldn't even let people go to the bathroom or get a drink without having a party wristband. I also recommend the party, but if all you want is to see the fireworks, go to one of the resorts or switch nights as the PP suggested.
