Trying to plan our trip for next Easter/Spring Break. I was thinking of getting a reservation at BCV at 11 months and then trying to switch to Vero at 7 months.

My questions are...is a week too long at Vero?? My husband is a St. Louis Cardinal fan and I know we could go to some Spring Training games nearby.

Also-will it be hard to switch over to Vero for the week before Easter?? Anyone able to get reservations at 7 months out for Easter??

I could spend a week at Vero easily. Great place to recharge your batteries.

Last year we spent our first entire week at VB. It was probably our 8th or 9th visit, which have always been 4-5 days. I was just as sad and not ready to leave as any other time. :sad1: This year we are going to HHI and I am already sad that I won't see VB at all. :sad2:

It will certainly help if your DH not only loves the beach, but also loves the ocean. That's were I live most of the week on a boogie board. But if you find you need to add some extra activities here are some to consider:

They have a nice pool & Lighthouse spiral waterslide, a REALLY cool water deck area for the real young kids, a hot Jacuzzi, miniature golf, exercise room, ping pong, bike rentals, The Green Cabin Room (bar/restaurant) has 2nd floor covered deck that has a fantastic view of the ocean and is a nice place to relax with your favorite beverage. It also has live entertainment in the evenings. At night they have a campfire / s’more roast (bring the Cutter Advanced to fend off the No-see-ums). You can rent a small catamaran or jet-ski for ocean fun. Across the street they have a lake, picnic tables, nature walk/bike trail (8mi.), tennis courts, and basketball courts. Disney built a private tunnel under the road to access this area. And of course they have the ocean and great waves for boogy boarding. Everything from the ocean to the pool to your room is no more than 2 minutes away walking. So it is real easy to break up your day

5 minutes away is Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge and a wildlife education center. Just a few minutes further up the road is Sebastian Inlet State Park were the Indian River meets the ocean. There are many good fishing spots around the inlet, and there are river excursions where you can see dolphins, manatee, and tons of other types of wildlife. About an hour north is Port Canaveral, (where the Magic and Wonder dock), the Kennedy Space Center visitor complex, and Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge with walking and driving tours. 20 minutes south is McKee Botanical Garden (18 acres) with some REALLY cool vegetation and trees. 30 minutes south in Fort Piece is the Manatee Observation and Education Center.

You won't regret going to VB for a week, I promise. :beach:

If you're planning to go to spring training games, Vero is a great home base. I'm sure your week will fly by. It's a wonderful place to kick back and enjoy....especially if your "real" home is cold and snowy. Dodgers should still be in Vero next year (and I think another team is going to move in when they move out), the Mets are just down the road in Port St. Lucie and have a very nice stadium and then you've got the Cards and Marlins down in Jupiter.

This is a very popular time for folks to visit Florida so make your call at 7 months and if you can't get all the days, get on the waitlist.

We like it so much we go there for two 1 week stays 1 week Feb and 1 week in Aug.

The kids don't miss WDW AT ALL when they are there!

We've never stayed a week, usually 4 or 5 days, but I always leave wanting more. I think it depends on your vacation style. Some people here post that there's not enough to do; however, some people call not having too much to do a "vacation". I'm with the latter! My family stays so busy year round that when we go to HH or VB, doing very little but swimming, going to the beach, biking, sleeping, etc... is truly a vacation! I've never left VB or HH that I didn't feel relaxed.

Thanks for all the replies. We are a very BUSY family and a nice relaxing beach vacation sounds very nice. (and with Spring Training...my hubby will be in heaven!) I was just a little worried since most posts stated they just stayed a few days.

I am a little worried about being able to switch over at the 7 month mark. Anyone have any luck doing this the week before Easter??

Never have, but always wish I did after several of our 3-4 night stays. I'm not necessarily a beach person, but I love the resort, the pool area, mini-golf, bike riding, and golf courses in the area. I'm sure I could do (and love) a week, although any more might be too much.

I was thinking about doing the same thing for next year! Our spring break however is not tied to Easter next year. I think that will help in bettering our chances for a 7 month our reservation. Our kids love the beach and it would be fun to explore that part of FL. :)

The longest I have been there is 8 days, but I know we could do more.. :goodvibes
