Can you recommend a good place for a special celebration?

Hello all! I'm new to these forums, in fact this is my 1st post & 1st question. :flower3:

My fiance and I are getting married in Orlando in October. We are spending our wedding night and the night after at the WL.
We are going to have my 6 year old son and my future inlaws with us.
We are trying to figure out a good place to have a celebration meal that day.
It would probably happen between 3-4pm so my husband and I can have a bit of time to ourselves in a park that night. :goodvibes

Can anyone recommend a good place?
Can you also recommend a good place to get a small cake made?
Also, to anyone that has done this, maybe you can tell me, I ordered a Mickey & Minnie wedding cake topper from the disney.comsite. Do I just bring this with me to the restaurant?
I did look at the other thread with all the cakes, but wasn't sure if I'd have to order it from one place and have it delivered to our meal site.
Sorry if I seem rambling, I'm so excited I can't help it.

Congratulations, and :welcome: to the DIS boards.
Let's see...The bakery at the GF has the abosolute very best cakes. You could eat at Narcoose's or Citricoes. Not sure how early they open though. The time frame you're looking at may be hard. A lot of the nicer restaurants finish serving lunch around 3 and start dinner at 5.
So...with that said.....try here for the menus, and some hours...

Check out the menus, see what appeals to you, as well as pricing. Then, come back here to the restaurant boards and see what others are saying about the places you are interested in. You say you are at the WL...we had a terrific meal at Artist Point awhile back. Great for adults and there is food for the younger set also.

Then, there is a thread here, on the Restuarant Board that is all about special cakes. It has photos as well as info about where, how much, how good..that type thing.
As far as the topper goes, I would imagine that if you let them know you were bringing it, you could just give it to the CM who checks you in for your meal and they could take the topper back to the kitchen to be added to your cake. But be sure to let them know beforehand so they can leave the top 'open'.
Again,,,congratulations!!! I hope your trip is wonderful.

After looking at most of the times for dinners, yes, I think our dinner will be moved to around 5pm. After all.... we'll have the rest of the night & all of the next day!

Are you planning a Disney wedding? You will a wedding cake from that. They will move it to wherever you are having your dinner. When I got married it was only the two of us so we boxed up our cake...and ate at California Grill that night.

Check out the wedding board here on the DIS...very helpful ladies!

We are doing a small wedding ceremony outside of Disney in Melbourne.
We are spending 2 nights onsite and then 6 offsite.

I'd love to do the Disney Wedding, but with the future inlaws coming, they wanted to rent a condo outside of Disney.
Works for me as long as I get to Disney! (& get married of course.) :rotfl:

Who's taking care of your other 2 boys while you are on your wedding trip? Just wondering 'cause your profile says "28 year old mother of 3 boys." :confused3 Don't all 3 boys deserve to go to Disney?

It is a very long story as to why my older 2 boys aren't able to go on this trip.

We are planning a 2nd trip in the spring of '08 with all of us.

Even if you were not staying at WL, I would recommend Artist Point. My DW and I have celebrated two anniversaries there, #25 and #30, both with our teenage children and without. For #25, they surprised us with a small cake, but you can't count on it. I think that you can order a cake through Artist Point. Be sure to tell them that you are celebrating your wedding when you make your resy. When you get to podium, ask for a seat by the windows. The seats by the waterfall are best! :)

Congrats on your upcoming nuptials!!

Are you aware that Melborne is NOT a hop, skip and a jump to WDW property?

I'm sure it is a very long "story." Maybe after you have some time to think about it you'll share it with us. :rolleyes1
