Can you bring your own can soda to the food court ASM?

With all due respect (and from your post count and history on this board, you are certainly due plenty!), when you start comparing an open to the public area to private, pay for service areas (like a massage room), it really isn't fair to the OP.
You must not have been reading the thread because you clearly missed these comments:
... they're not going to do anything against a specific individual until after they determine that they want to put a specific prohibition in place ...
... The short answer is, yeah, you can do that ...

I realize that you were in part responding to another comment, but I didn't feel that it was necessary to start drawing analogies
It was clear clarification was needed.

about drinking a can of caffeine free Pepsi in the food court being the same as (or even similar to) an act of entitlement like usurping the amenities of a resort when one hasn't paid for them.
The point is that while no guest is ever personally responsible for what changes Disney puts in place, when Disney does put changes in place, that they're not doing it to be mean, but rather because they are watching us, and responding to how we use the facilities.

So if I just take my own food into Narcoossees, ,Citrico's or even Victoria & Albert's there in no problem?
After all I'm paying big bucks for a room at the GF and as you stated I can use all the facilities to my own judgment and how I use them is really my business?
I can just walk in with my in my room cooked Crockpot meal put them it on the table and expect the waiters to serve plates and glasses? After all there is no difference between a food court or Narcoossees. They both provide food and as you stated guests are entitled to use them as they please.
How far does this does this" we feel for the price we paid to stay at the resort entitles us to use the facilities as we see fit" go? Can I bring my own sandwiches into the park and just walk in the Brown Derby and demand they have to give me a table because" My room cost allows me to use all the facilities"?

Table service restaurants require you to pay for service, which makes them totally different than a food court. A food court is a common area in the resort.

My main experience with a resort food court at WDW is at what was at the time Dixie Landings. I thought they locked-up the Cotton Mill (?) after they stopped selling food. I know that places like the Mara at AKL and Roaring Forks at WL are locked-up after food sales end for the night. Perhaps economy resorts work differently, though.

I know how you feel. I am suffering from old mug paranoia. I am buying new mugs for my kids on our upcoming trip, more because they want them than I think it will provide a good value since we will eat so few meals in the food court. We will have a car so we will buy plenty of beverages for our room and I am bringing our own coffee and tea as well.

Problem is I need some kind of unbreakable insulated mug for myself and DH to use to bring to the pool or to bring a cup of coffee to have with our breakfast. I happen to have the perfect thing, our old mugs! Really, what better place to use a disney themed mug than WDW. Trouble is we all know that as soon as someone sees us with the old mugs they will assume we "stole" a beverage from the foodcourt. Maybe I have read too many mug threads and people aren't really that judgemental.:sad2:

Most people aren't going to care what you use in the food court. Its mostly just people on these boards that are so worried about it. I didn't see anybody blink an eye when one family used their XTreme Big Gulp mugs at the POR food court - nobody is going to care if you use an old Disney mug with your own beverages. Even if you stole a drink (not advocating this), as long as you don't post about it here, nobody would care.

No it is not. It aa restaurant designed to make profit. It is the same as all the restaurants in the parks. They are there to make profit and not as a pick nick place to cool of and eat your own food.

The part where you buy the food is indeed a place to make money, the seating area is not.

You're clearly missing the point so I'm not going to bother....

Clearly you are missing the point of a company making profit.
But please tell me are you also going into a Mac to get a table eat the food you cooked at home and get a free refill with a cup you bought years ago?:lmao:
The seat area is for paying costumers and not for freeloaders that bring there own food.

Please remember nothing in life is free. Everything somebody uses even a chair in a restaurant has to be paid for.
So dragging your own food into a restaurant or food court means that those who pay for there food in real life pay for those that use the chairs for freeloading.

I've never seen a food court without an available table, but I guess during busier seasons it can happen. Other than that issue, most people are having too much fun to care whether you bring your own drink.

Before they expanded Roaring Forks, table space was a big problem. Actually, I haven't eaten at Roaring Forks since the expansion, so I'm not sure if it is still a big problem or not.

The Mara was never full, as far as I could see, but we typically were waiting at the door when they unlocked it in the morning, or were aiming to have dinner at 4:30PM... the curse of old people's dining disease. :rotfl:

To the OP, please bring your own drinks to the food court and enjoy your vacation and don't worry about this being an issue. You have the right to bring your own drinks into the foodcourt. Disney allows people to bring their own drinks into the parks and they sell drinks there. As far as anyone looking or saying anything to you, believe me people are too busy enjoying their vacations, they won't notice what you are drinking. Enjoy and don't worry. Linda

:confused3
I didn't know that some people have such strong opinions on others bringing in their own cans of soda to the "general" seating area of a counter service restaurant! If they are buying the food there, what difference should it make if they carried in their own soda?

I guess, from the original question, would it seem "ultra cheap" and almost embarrassing... from some of the posts here, I would have to say maybe the answer might be yes. But if there is a rule against it, I would say no. If it were me - I would bring the can of soda, and if anyone has a problem with it too bad! :scared1:

I do not think you would have any Disney employees badgering you. You did buy their food!

OP bringing your own soda to the food court is a non issue. As long as you buy something from the food court to eat then you are entitled to a table. Whether your bill is $50 or $5 the seat is yours so what difference does it make? Disney is more than happy to take your money on ANY food purchase rather than have you eat off-site or in your room from the grocery store. A food court and a TS are two very different eating establishments. For instance, one would never dream of bringing their own food to a TS to heat up in the microwave but guests are encouraged to do so at their resort's food court. I have an ultra pickey ds and have brought kraft mac and cheese, canned ravioli and instant noodle soup to the POP food court for him.
The rest of the family ordered food from POP so who would tell me that my ds was not entitled to eat with his family? Again, whether 3 people or 4 people sat at my table made no difference. That being said, I have seen an entire family eating frozen dinners at the food court and drinking their own drinks without buying anything. Another family was busy filling up all sorts of empty containers at the drink fountains in front of a cm who said nothing to them. :scared1: Now, THAT is tacky!

Actually quite the contrary. I don't mind buying a new mug every year, but I also don't spend MY vacation time policing others. I'm spending a few grand to enjoy myself, not to worry about others. I would also say calling people "freeloaders" is pretty harsh. I guess some of us are just more easy going than others. Clearly you care about this way more than Disney does. This is all I'm going to say on the matter.

OP sorry some people are making you feel uncomfortable with what you asked about, but really no one will probably even notice you. Most of the people in values are families, and anyone traveling with kids is more than likely too busy minding their children to mind what others are doing.

I was at Disney 3 times last year and so far once this year and I have not seen any food police. If there are no signs to the contrary about bringing your own drink and you are purchasing your food at the food court, you go ahead and bring in your own drink. Most people are way too busy taking care of their own families to notice what anyone else is doing anyway!! Have a great time!

Seriously?

OP asked about bring a can of pop with her to the food court, she is going to be at the food court to BUY food...

Pitiful that this get so nasty over a can of pop.:sad2:

Fascinating. Not exactly why people care so much about what other people do.

OP. You bring your cans in to the food court. Period.

I don't drink caffiene or sugar, I hate sprite, and I have no intention of drinking just water for my whole vacation. I drink diet decaf pepsi, and unsweetened decaf iced tea. Last trip to POFQ, there were NO refillable drink options for me. If Disney wants to start providing me with an option, then they can complain. They won't complain though, because they're Disney, and they don't CARE what you are drinking.

Disney CARES about good customer service designed tobring you back for another vacation where you will spend $$$$$$ on room and tickets. A can of soda???? Really???Let's look at the larger picture here.

P.s. I'm allowed to sit in that food court even if I spend $1.00. Are you food court police really saying that someone who spends $30 on food but brings a can of soda shouldn't be allowed? No need to answer ;). The answer is obvious.

Deb

Bring your own soda and enjoy. After all you are buying their food.

I often bring 3 or 4 cans of Diet Dr. Pepper with me to add soda variety to my trips. The only time anyone has ever said anything to me at the food court was the person who asked where I bought it because she wanted one. She was very disappointed to hear that she couldn't get it at the food court.

Have a great time! :thumbsup2

But I still think there's a difference. Are you saying that if I'm staying at POR and want to walk into the food court with my pack of crackers and sit down for a few minutes, I shouldn't? Its the food court at the resort I'm paying to stay at. Nobody else will care - unless there are no available tables in which case, I would happily move. Of course, I wouldn't sit down in Boatwrights, but I see a difference in the food court.
