Can we all agree on just this?

When any of us are referring to Universal in a post, I don't think there is a need to call it the "darkside" anymore as it seems most of us on this board have either been or plan to be there at some point! :rotfl:

thanks. ;)

I don't call it that, as it is usually the highlight of our trip. We love Disney and will always stay there, but we always go to universal at least 2-3 of our days there. Just love Disney resorts and it will always be the base of our trip, can't imagine making an entire week trip out of universal. But we love it and have no problem admitting it.

The regulars on the Universal forum call it that and I doubt that they will stop. It's a habit now.

We LOVE Harry, and so we have been really wanting to hit Universal... but we had to choose one option for our trip due to finances... thus we chose Disney. I'd like to really experience the "magic" with my seven year old at least one more time before she hits those fun years where things aren't cool anymore. She's also been too small to ride the big rides and that has kept us from going... I suspect our next Florida vacation will be a Universal/Sea World/Discovery Cove trip--which will probably be in two or three years since we are college students and I am about to start my Grad program, I don't see having the finances available for anything sooner. I expect a 9/10yr old to really love Universal more than Disney. We'll see.

We haven't been there since 2000. We are going to go for 2 nights before a cruise next year, should be fun! We plan to come back to WDW once Avatarland is done. I really want to stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge once, but I'm also interested in seeing how the new Polynesian Village turns out. :)

But "Darkside" sounds so Star Wars....oh wait.;)

but we're on a WDW message board- calling universal the darkside is like being on a Cubs message board and calling St Louis the darkside or Bears Packers... its as much tongue in cheek as anything

I have to say...and I'm 40 and remember and love the original trilogy, but I honestly could take or leave a Star Wars land. I see how others are excited for it, I'm just eh. Now I'm no huge Avatar fan, but I am excited to see what they do with it and mostly just excited for Animal Kingdom - it's my favorite park.

I'd so much love to see something done with WAll E though, it's my favorite Pixar movie. I'm sure they could theme it into Epcot or something?

Yes, I get it, I just felt like it's run it's course and it's time to put it to bed! (at least in my mind :rotfl:)

Most people don't see it as a rivalry, just a (vocal) select few. ;)

why can't you enjoy both and still admit its a rivalry?- i have enjoyed both inn my life but spend my time on a wdw message board because every day i wish i were at wdw- not universal

For balance - every day I wish I were at Universal and not WDW :cool1:

I come here just for the sugar high...

There is a rivalry, no doubt. I wish Disney would step it up, but that's all in another thread. I post on many message boards (not as Mad Hattered) that are based on both Disney and Universal. Some people here know who I am on other boards. Believe it or not, I don't bash Disney as much as one would think. In fact, I can guarantee that more Universal fans are pretty tolerant with the amount of bashing we get.

I guess to me it's not a rivalry then. I couldn't care less who gets bigger crowds or who makes more money as long as I'm entertained.

Mad Hattered, I must now make it my mission to figure out who you are on those "other boards".

To me it's like ps vs xbox vs wii- I want there to be good competition but ultimately I lean towards one side or the other- I would never go to a message board of the ones I don't favor because I already know which I prefer

"Rivalry" isn't meant in a bad way. To me it means pressing the other one to outdo the other one. Competition only means a more rewarding experience for all guests involved when it comes to theme parks.

If I am paying over $100/day then I damn well want to be entertained and I don't care which park it's in.:thumbsup2
