Can someone please help in understanding universal tickets?

I have purchased 3 adult tickets and 1 child ticket from undercover tourist (Universal 2-Day Park-to-Park Ticket + 3 Extra Days FREE). My name is on every ticket plus it states “Go straight to the gate and onto the rides. You may scan your E-ticket barcode from your phone for admission; no need to print anything out. You must present a valid photo ID or credit card matching the lead guest name for identity verification at the gate.”. I never saw an option to add names to tickets. My question is since my name is on every ticket do I have to be with the whole group(and show photo id) to enter the parks? thanks for any advice.

Since you have actual tickets, you shouldn't need to.. .if you had a voucher, then yes, you would have to show ID and pick up the tickets.

Be sure to write each persons name or mark the tickets somehow so you can keep them straight since they will be linked to the person.

That is a great idea about writing the name on the tickets. I am also guessing you have to show your tickets at Kings Crossing to ride the train from Ioa to Universal Studios(and vice-versa)? What is the best way to secure these if they are just paper tickets(getting wet from rain or on rides). Sorry for all the questions, I am just used to linking Magic Bands and everyone is good for the entire trip lol.

Yes you have to have your hopper ticket to get into the line for the train.

They are just like the previous WDW and DL tickets; they are not just paper. But most peope wear lanyards, just like people at DL do and people at WDW used to do (I still do). They have some terrific lanyards there; I love my soft-fabric Ravenclaw tie-themed lanyard. And I use a Witz-brand hard plastic waterproof lanyard case, to keep ticket/AP, credit card, ID, insurance card, and a bit of cash with me.

MBs are still relatively new, IMO. Sure sure, 2013, which means I've been going to Orlando longer with MBs than without, but peope had the tyvek/paper tickets for years before, and it was all just fine. (and I despise the plastic toddler-bracelets aka MBs)

You can go to guest services and trade in your paper ticket, for a smaller, like credit card size, plastic one. And usually, they have a pen at the turnstiles. for people that bought tickets for more than themselves. So that yes, to write a name on each one, to ensure same one is used by the same person. They still use fingerprint scanning to first get in, and also to use the train. So, yes, your ticket will be scanned before you enter the ride line for the train. That's where the backups usually start for that ride. And yes, park to park tickets are like Disney's hoppers, you can go back and forth between IOA and the Studios all day, and ride the train too, as you bought the park to park ticket.

We also keep our hotel key, and AP in a lanyard. I don't get my lanyard wet. When I do the wet rides, I wear swim shorts that have a zipper pocket. That's where the two card go. Otherwise, I like having the lanyard, as I don't have to remove either card from it, to work both the hotel door, and to enter the parks, and use the train. I tend to take it off, just to make it easier to scan, and so I am not leaning over the scanner.

And it does sound like you have live tickets. E tickets. But I am not sure why it would say credit card too. I can see asking for ID to ensure who the person is, but have never showed a credit card when having a live ticket at the gate. Give Undercover a call or send an email to clarify what you bought, an actual ticket or voucher to get a ticket. I find their customer service, quick and helpful. I have bought tickets, that were vouchers, and had to use the kiosks outside the park, to get my tickets. I used my credit card I used to buy the tickets, in the machine, after entering my order number. I haven't bought tickets from Undercover lately. I have had an AP for years, and just upgraded my kids to APs last year.

I hope you have a great time in the parks, the promotion deal is a great one, 5 days to enjoy much of the parks' fun rides, shows, themes and food.

Thank you, I did confirm with undercover tourist that these are the actual tickets. I will probably do like you suggested and go to guest services and go get the credit card sized plastic ones. Thank you again for the information.

I was just there with these tickets (paper tix from undercover tourist which all had my name).

No ID was required but each person needs to always use the same ticket. We kept them straight by all of us having a unique lanyard for ticket and room key. I would highly recommend lanyards otherwise you are digging stuff out fairly often. Also the paper tickets are protected from getting wet.

Highly recommend lanyard for everyone. We bought ours on amazon before we left and bought waterproof badge holders to hold room key and ticket because ones they came with didn’t seal. Makes park entry, park hopping and getting lockers so much easier. We never had to take them off. No issue at all.

We did the e print out once and the papers were so bulky to carry. So much easier to trade in for small tickets.

We weren't into lanyards but we had as our park bags water proof/water resistent style ones (think scubba diving type). We just kept the tickets in there right along side the cash and cards and IDs. We just didn't like the idea of something around our necks or having to deal with it by putting them in our pockets. That's purely us because I know plenty of people who swear by the waterproof lanyards and love them.

The problem with this NOW is that US recently switched lockers. The old lockers opened with a finger print scan, but the new lockers open with an ID scan.

At all rides, you are allowed to bring a lanyard. For a few rides, like Hulk, riders aren't supposed to have anything metal in their pockets. If you have a non-rider in your party, they could hold your stuff.

If you don't like something around your neck, I have seen ID holders that come with a clip. I recently saw them at Five Below for $5. But warning- years ago I had one at WDW, and it broke off in the middle of Epcot. I noticed right away, but it was still too late. I had to go to Guest Services to get it replaced, which took a while. Still, I WAS tempted to get one.

Lots of folks use printed paper tickets at US.

Whatever you use, it should be consistent. We just never go the parks without our lanyards, so we never forget them. If you are putting them different places all day- to me, that's a recipe for losing them, which is a pain.

Oh, but another thing we've done is to put two tickets per ID holder, at least with the plastic ones. As long as you stay together when entering the parks and hopping you just scan both sides of the ID holder at the gates. Then only half your group would have to wear lanyards, but with the new lockers- I suggest at least one lanyard. part of your group might also get away with the kind of ID holder that sticks to your phone, and maybe putting your phone in a waterproof bag/holder or ziploc bag.

No there's no problem for my husband and I :)

These suggestions are great for generalities (so I think it's good information you provided) but our parks bags that we personally bring work best for us and our touring habits (like what rides both of us go on or don't go on, etc).

I merely offered another suggestion to the lanyards.

Hey team, I'm going to hop on here with a question:
I purchased our Universal tix the other day, but purchased them directly through Universal's App, so they are saved to the 'wallet' on the app. Both mine and my friends are on there (I was able to assign our names to each ticket), and we may purchase Express at a later date once we get an idea of crowd levels.
I haven't been to Universal in a LONG time, so am unsure if like Disney you scan your FP/express pass at a couple of points through the line? Where in the lines do the lockers usually appear? Have I made life unnecessarily hard for myself by getting them on the app and having to keep my phone with me? o_O

I think you will want physical copies of your tickets. Most lockers require you to scan your ticket so you wouldn’t be able to leave your phone locked up for Hulk, RRR etc.

Pretty sure guest services can help you out when you arrive at the park or maybe at your hotel.

Thank you! They emailed PDF copies of the tix so will definitely print those as a back up and check out Guest Services when we get there!
