Can someone explain MVMCP to me?

Can someone explain Mickey's very merry christmas party to me? Is this similar to e-ride night? Is this an after-hours event? Also, do you need to pay for regular park admission in addition to the cost of mvmcp? How long does it usually last? Finally, do you think it is worth it?

I will start with the last question first...YES!! I think it is totally worth it. We went for the first time in December 2000 and it was super cold but had a great time. We had a 13 month old so we did not stay long because it was cold. We can not wait for our trip in December to go again. That said...

It is an after hours event that you must purchase a separate ticket for admission. There are limited number of tickets per party.
It starts at 7pm and I believe is until 12 or 1am.

The parade is just incredible and the snow on Main Street and hot chocolate and cookies and you get a family photo included in your admission, and the fireworks....Just love em!

I think I read someone on the boards were going 2 nights during their trip, 1 night for parade and shopping I think and the other for the rides. That sounds like a great idea to me

My DH, myself, & my oldest DD all have an annual pass. But my youngest daughter doesn't (she was under 3 the last time she visited WDW, so we didn't get her a pass). So....would I have to buy a 1 day park ticket PLUS a MVMCP ticket for her - or just a MVMCP ticket?

On an ordinary day during this season, Christmas in the Magic Kingdom is very festive in every way. A towering Christmas tree decorates Town Square and the whole place is decked out in Disney fashion, with garlands, wreaths, decorations and lights everywhere. There are also special Holiday performances during the day.

On select evenings during the Holiday season you can purchase tickets for the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party event, complete with hot chocolate, cookies, a complimentary family photo and button, and even SNOW... Don't miss the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Parade held twice during the evening. Also see a Special Holiday Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks.

Other things to watch for..

Santa Goofy, Carolers, Miss Minnie's Country Christmas at Diamond Horseshoe Revue, Mickey's Twas the Night Before Christmas in Tomorrowland's Galaxy Palace Theatre, Country Bears Christmas and Mickey and the gang also join the Kids of the Kingdom for a show in front of the Castle.

To reiterate the above, MVMCP has a separate ticket, and you DO NOT need to have another ticket to get into the park for MVMCP. Based on the past two years' policies, you should be able to get into MK after 4 p.m. at least with your MVMCP ticket alone (although you might be asked to go to Tomorrowland between official park closing time and MVMCP start time).

If you wanted to get into MK earlier, or go to another park that day, then, obviously, you would need a ticket. We have scheduled the daytime on MVMCP for non-park activities (by the pool, golf, water park, Downtown Disney shopping, etc.), as that is much more cost-efficient.

Yes, it is definitely worth it. This will be our 4th time to do MVMCP. I had actually thought that we might not do it, but DH wanted to, so we will.

We went for the first time in 2000 and had my daughter and her best friend. It was great when we walked down Main Street with the "snow" falling. We caught the parade near the Haunted Mansion, then got directly into Haunted Mansion with no wait. When we came out there was a long line. We got the pictures done and had a great time. We have been each year since and love it. We always feel it is worth the extra you pay for it. The rides aren't too busy, but it seems everyone is over in Tomorrowland more than the other areas.

If you are into pin collecting they have a special pin for this. Last year you could purchase all twelve different pins as a framed set for just over $200. Otherwise you can purchase two of the individual pins per ticket. The framed set last year was the first time they had done that. Previously I think there were 3 different pins. (one for the first 4 nights, another for the next 4, etc)


Thank you Beattyfamily for the ticket prices. I had seen two different prices and who had already purchased them said they were $33.95 + tax. I forgot about the handling charge when you advance purchase. When I called I was told $38.29. (This would include tax & shipping)

Yes, it's worth it.

Get a PS inside MK (if you figure out the little one's issue....) about 1 1/4 hours before it starts. Get your wrist band before dinner. You miss the crowds trying to get in. Do you like princesses??? Both times we went, they had cinderella's carriage behind the castle and 5 or 6 princesses signing autographs.

We went on a tuesday night from opening to closing last year(with a 5.5 and a 3.5 year old) and loved every minute. Caught the last castle show, so we didn't leave til almost 1am. I was really surprised, we were able to ride our hearts out (5 times in a row on BTMRR, without even exiting at the begining), AND see the parade, AND catch the castle show and part of the Belle show.

Great fun.

Well, I haven't been, but I just can't imagine how it could be worth it. And I'm a real Disney nut who had 5 Disney trips last year, and another 5 planned by the end of this year. We were at Disneyland for Thanksgiving last year, and the XMAS parade with the snow was included as part of the regular entry. It just seems to me that it should also be this way at WDW, and I just can't justify spending $140 for my family of 4 to attend and get some "free" cookies and hot chocolate. I could plan 2 extra character meals for that much money, which seems to be a much better value to me. But, apparently I'm the only person who feels this way.

I was at WDW last year in early Dec. when many people were unhappy with their very cold and/or rained out experience at MVMCP, so it may be a good idea to wait until you're there and see what the weather looks like, since it can be extremely variable at that time of year.

My Wife and I did this last year, and it was a blast and worth the extra ticket.

Think of it this way. You can get in by 4 p.m. and stay until after midnight for about the same cost as one day off a parkhopper pass. As I said above, we always stayed out of the parks otherwise on MVMCP day, so we didn't burn a day off our parkhoppers. Then, in addition to all of the usual attractions, you get the special parade and fireworks, special Christmas shows, the family photo, MVMCP buttons, and the cookies and hot chocolate.

Yes, this is true.

I just wanted to add that you can only see the parade at MVMCP UNTIL it gets to be just a few days before Christmas. Then about 3 or 4 days before Christmas, you can see the special xmas parade during the day as well.

So, the only way you can see the parades the first 3 weeks of December is at MVMCP. It's like an E-night but it's got much more!

If you are willing to go Xmas week, then you get to see the parade and shows during the day.

Actually, the Country Bears Christmas Show is on for all of December (I assume from right after Thanksgiving). Don't know about all of the live stage shows.

Or are these shows on during the day, too? Will they still have the Wild West show since Diamond Horseshoe is closed? Thanks!

We really enjoyed ourselves last year, the whole thing was great, shows, parade, snow on MS, unlimited rides with little waiting, very festive. However, I think depending on the weather and crowds it can be a very hit or miss event. The night we went the weather was clear and in the 50's and 60's, crowds were generally light. Two nights later there was a virtual monsoon which pretty much rained the whole party and most of its special shows. I guess we just lucked out. I hear the closer to Christmas and on the weekends is when the crowds get bigger. It may be worth while to consider waiting to buy your tickets in case the weather forecast looks bleak.

I can see where the cost would be worth it if you just spent the afternoon/night there instead of using a day off of a hopper, but we have AP's, so it would really be an extra $140 for us. Maybe I'll save this event for some year in the future when we don't have AP's. Except that I don't think that will ever happen...

Are these tickets the type that usually sell out way ahead of time? Or are you guaranteed you can buy them if you are staying onsight?
Is this something you can buy if you AREN'T staying onsite?

I ask because the only night we'd be able to do this would be Nov 30th- and I haven't decided if my daughter and I will be staying onsite on that trip or not.... yet. But that would be the only night we could do it - so if it's a sell out type of thing, I might need to hurry up and make our plans and buy the tickets!

I'm still unclear about what shows are exclusively at MVMCP and which ones would be able to be seen during a regular park entrance. Are there differences--we are NOT going right at C'mas time. We will arrive the Saturday after T-giving. Thanks!

They don't typically sell out early but they do sell out as it gets close. Some have said they bought tickets a couple days before but I wouldn't take that risk myself. They do sell out.

Anyone can buy them. That's why weekend days tend to be busier because locals buy them for the weekend dates...
