Can someone explain CVSing - I dont get it!

I just thought all of you wonderful DisBoard members might like to know that my very best friend aka global_mom, and the wonderful person who started this post, unexpectedly passed away yesterday morning from a heart attack, she was 39 years old. She was a wife and mother to three wonderful children. She just recently got me to sign up to the DISboards and I just felt compelled to let you all know. Let's keeps this wonderful thread going in her memory. She was a lover of these boards and everything Disney!!!!

OMG! I am just shocked to read this. I have been following this thread closely since global_mom started it. By starting this thread, she has inspired me to try out the whole ecb/cvs thing and I have already saved over $100 in that weeks time. I didn't even know her, but I did read every one of her posts with great interest. I will miss her posts. It is good to know her last moments were in such a happy place and surrounded by her family. My condolences go out to you and her family. I will be thinking about her when I make my next trip to CVS tomorrow.

I am also shocked. She was such a positive influence on this thread and inspired me to CVS too. I bought about $90 in products for $46 OOP and still have $10 in ECB to use (all with minimal coupon clipping). I am now hooked!

My thoughts are with her family.

You all are so wonderfully thoughtful to post your blessings, they are very appreciated. She had a history of some minor heart problems, but of course we never thought this would happen. She, her parents, her husband and her children were at Disney World and staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. It was her favorite of all the resorts and they had eaten at Boma the night before, which was her favorite restaurant. It was the family's 26th trip together. She was at the place she loved the most with the people she loved the most. Hugs to all of you.

I am so sorry for you, as her friend, and her family, I can't imagine the shock, it's very very sad.

If there is an online obit where people can post condolences, please let us know. Hope you are okay.

Can someone explain why I'd pay $3.50 for a toothbrush...I know I get ECB for the Toothbrushes...but I don't get it. I'm still out 6.49...I'd rather use the ECB for stuff I need or would normally purchase. And I wouldn't buy one that was that expensive. teach me!

I only buy toothbrushes if they are free after ECB. So you aren't really "paying" money for them. If you use 3.50 in ECB and get 3.50 in ECB, you aren't out any "money" PLUS you got the toothbrush. If you throw in a coupon (either manufacturers or $/$$), you actually MAKE money on the deal. That is why you buy the toothbrushes.

For example, if you buy the free after ECB bandaids and throw in a CVS cotton swabs, plus use a $3/$10 CVS coupon, you get all of the items free PLUS you make $3 that you can use on something else you want/need that might not give ECB - like milk, etc.

I figured this out while going to sleep. If the toothbrushes are in, I can use my ECB to buy them. Then I'll get toothbrushes and the ECB back. sweet.

OMG how awful. I'm completely saddened by this news. I'll be praying for her family. Those poor kids.

Thank you - it's so kind of you to keep everyone updated and the obituary was beautiful. People can be friends with someone who's virtually invisible and I was just thinking that in an odd way, it shows how strong faith really is.

This is going to be one of your saddest days so sending prayers and thoughts your way. We'll all keep CVSing in her memory and I know she inspired many others just in this single thread.

After reading this thread and the weekly CVS thread I have decided to give this a try. I plan on going tomorrow during lunch. I'll let you all know how I did.
