Can someone confirm this for me?

Hi everyone. I was hoping someone could confirm something for me and answer yet another question. I’ve posted a few times recently. We’re heading back to WDW in mid-May after a five year hiatus. Up until that point, we visited annually for 15 years. FP+ was still a thing and we had our touring down to a science. Now, I’m starting over.

I just want to make sure I’m correct about something with regard to LL multi and single passes, specific to MK. If we purchase the LLMP for MK, we will need to purchase separate LLSP for Tron and SDMT. Is this correct?

In years past, we always rope dropped Fantasyland. Starting with Peter Pan, then Pooh, Mickey’s Philharmagic, Small World, and at that point our first FP+ would kick in and we’d ride SDMT. Then on to Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain (now Tiana), then lunch. Then the rest of the lands, utilizing FP+ as we went.

I am thinking of loosely following our tried and true touring plan, using LLMP as we previously used FP+, but adjusting as necessary for present day. We prefer to get Fantasyland out of the way early as it usually becomes bedlam as the day goes on. Or at least it did in the past.

Which brings me to my questions. I’d prefer to not have to buy multiple LLSP if we can avoid it. Has anyone had any luck incorporating SDMT into an early entry rope drop touring plan? I’ve read conflicting recommendations in Disney Tourist Blog (no) and Touring Plans (yes). Just seeking some opinions and experiences from anyone who’s been lately.

It’s also my understanding that Tron does not open until official park opening. Is this correct? So if we rope drop Tron with early entry, we’d still have to wait 30 minutes or so for the attraction to open, while Fantasyland wait times grow. This is why I’m still thinking we’re best to rope drop Fantasyland.

We’re so excited to be coming back, but as the family planner, I’m also experiencing some anxiety. I know touring plans are always subject to on the fly adjustments and I’m prepared for this. In the past, this would sometimes result in an even more magical day. I just want to make sure I have the basics correct.

Thanks for reading all of this and for your help.

I can't answer all your questions, but I can confirm Tron and SDMT are LLSP attractions and would need to be purchased separately. You could purchase the LLSPs for these attractions without buying the LLMP (if you wanted to), or purchase along with LLMP. You can purchase a max of 2 LLSPs per day. If you're staying onsite at WDW, you could purchase either/both LLSP and LLMP 7 days in advance, plus the entire length of your WDW room reservation. If you purchase LLMP for the day at MK, as soon as you tap into the first attraction of the day, you then have the option to book another attraction - any tier and any park. The later in the day you tap into your first attraction, the fewer options you'll have available to you later in the day.

In your scenario above, Tiana's Bayou Adventure would be your tier 1 attraction for your initial reservations.

I'm sure others can give you some insight into the rope drop/early morning questions. That's not our thing! Have a great trip!

If you’re staying on property you can use early entry to try to rope drop SDMT, but you will use up all your early entry time (now only 30 mins) on one ride. Or you could try riding SDMT during fireworks - there will still be a wait but it will die down a bit. If you stay somewhere with extended evening hours those would be a good time to do SDMT.

About you: Do you have more than 1 day in MK?
Do you like to play on your phone?
Are you staying onsite?

If staying onsite, and you don’t want to pay for LLSP, then ropedropping fantasyland one day and getting in line for Tron is a good option. If you buy the SPs, there is much less early morning hassle.

If you like the challenge of fiddle-fiddling , (refreshing). — which is like a game to me— then we’ve had good luck with snagging and adjusting LLMPs to maximize the number and minimize cross-crossing.

Yes to all of your questions. We’ll have two days in each park, plus a few resort days. And I completely understand the refreshing game. I still have a pic on my phone from one of our last trips of the middle of the day FP+ we snagged for FOP because we loved it so much and wanted to ride again.

Just want to make sure I understand what you’re saying. So, we should early entry rope drop SDMT and purchase the SP for Tron? Thank you so much!

We do have access to the extended evening hours. I hadn’t thought about this. Thank you!

I was saying if you don’t want to purchase SP, then RD SDMT one day and Tron the other. If you do purchase SP, the. Your RD strategy can skip them. We had good luck with Tron right before park close, less so with SDMT.

I, like you, was a fan of Fastpass, but recently used the new system. Purely my opinion, Tron is worth a standby line (I have two fake hips and this was a blast!), Tiana is great to try, but goes down a lot and is affected by rain. SDMT is nice; very short ride and the standby line is very well themed. If you go during fireworks, you can do any of these in under an hour, imho. Bring panchos and walk in the rain, and the lines are pretty short. This was my experience. LLMP is helpful on busy days, but there is competition for all rides, so think about which queues you enjoy waiting on, and which ones you don't, and Remember that only some hotels have evening hours: all have morning.
