Can I order kids meals at CS or food court locations?

Just starting to think about a trip to WDW nest year, but budgets need to be in place first. We probably wont be doing the DDP, mainly because we don't like to do sit down meals every day and eat fairly light. I just can't see us eating all that food (except for maybe my DS16, LOL)

My main ? here is...

We plan to stay at Pop. Can I go to the food court, say at breakfast, and order a kid's sized meal? I know myself, DS11, and DS13 aren't big breakfast eaters, but these meals may be just the right size. Or can I only get kid's meals if I have a child under 9 with me? Another option is to split an adult meal, but we often don't want to eat the same things. We often split meals for lunches and dinner...
I guess this is something I wonder about at the CS locations in the parks too.
Is it possible??or a no-no...
TIA!

The menu does explicitly state, "9 and under" but you can almost always get them to waive that for you, if you're polite about it.

It's kinda like Happy Meals at McDonalds... I order them for myself because I don't like big meals, but the server doesn't know how many people are in your party, or if you're just ordering for kids, or whatever. You just have to learn to erase that "guilty" look when you order! :rotfl2:

Yes, if you are not on the DDP then its probably going to be fine for you to get a kids meal or two. Now if the whole family goes up and orders a kids meal for everyone, that could be a problem. One good thing for a light breakfast at Pop is get some a la carte items. They have small boxes of cereal and small milks which is very economical. Their breakfasts are pretty good sized, we have been able to share two between the four of us. But that doesn't work if you don't like the same things! I hear you on trying to come up with a reasonable food budget, I have been working the numbers myself all day for our October trip! Good luck!

I'm so glad you asked this question. I will eat off the adult menu but most of the time I get a kids meal for myself. DH gets an adult meal always. Today we ate out and I got a kids shrimp platter and ordered a baked potato on the side. Not a problem. It was $4.50 compared to $12.95! :  I can't eat an adult platter there b/c it's WAY too much food. The kids meal is perfect sized.

Also, drinks are extra for adults but come with kids meals right? Are the drinks 20 oz bottles or fountain at most of the CS places?

This was a very good question and I had not thought about ordering the children's meals. The DDP was just SOOO much food and we ate more than we should have! So next visit we are not doing the DDP. Yes, we will still have dinner at a couple sit down restaurants that we love but have been thinking about the counter service. Some of them are way too big also. So I might occasionally order a kids meal this time and see how it works out. DH will of course get an adults meal and I doubt that Disney will not make out. I will probably spend what I save on souvies!!! :)

I've never had an issue ordering kids meals at CS places. Last time we were at ASMo, I got the kids pasta for myself several times. The food portion was just right for a late night dinner. Plus, I was able to get a juice drink with it (which I didn't need since we'd bought mugs ) so DS could have an extra OJ for b-fast the next day.

I also almost always order kids meals for DS (13 last trip) because that is what he prefers. Even when he was with me and they saw him and knew it was for him, no one ever questioned me.
