We are leaving for Disney in 4 weeks we are staying at the ALSMovies Resort I was wondering when we check in if it is possible mid way through our stay if they could switch us to one of the moderate hotels and we pay the difference. We were suppose to stay at one this year but my sister and her family are coming with us and it was more ecenomical for her and her family to stay there (family5) one of her kids are staying in my room since my daughter is only 2 so its allowed. they are with us for 4 nights and then move on to cocoa beach so I thought since are anniversary is in July I would see if they could switch to moderate as a surprise to my hubby. Do you think this is something they could do or is it better to do before we leave I,d rather do it there so that it would be a surprise Any help would be grateful!!!

I would have two reservations. One for the value, then one for the moderate. You would probably get a better rate if you do this now rather than waiting until you are on property. Lots of folks split their stay but arrange for it before they get to WDW.

We went in early May 2001 and were booked for a week at CBR. On about the 3rd evening we had dinner at the Grand Floridian. My husband really liked the look of the resort and asked at the Front Desk if there were any rooms available that had a view of the castle. The Front Desk CM made a couple of phone calls, showed us around the resort, and when she got the call back that there was a lagoon view room that had a view of the castle available, my DH told her "We'll take it!". She went to her computer and took care of all the details, we paid the difference in the price of the room for the last 4 nights, then we went back to CBR and packed, and then CBR's valet service kindly took us and our luggage back over to the GF, and that's where we spent the rest of that trip. :sunny:

Ours was a spur of the moment decision and they handled it with absolutely no problem at all. However, if you know NOW that you're definitely going to want to move to a different resort half way through your trip, I'd get on the phone now and make sure that the resort is available, and change your reservations. If you want it to be a surprise, just don't tell your DH until you're at Disney already.

Hope all works out well, and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! :flower:

If you want to do this, I would reserve it now. Based on the posts I have read regarding resort availability, you should do it now to ensure you get what you want.
