We are going on July 21th thru 28th
first time going in the Summer..
We have gone only in April, May, first of June and Oct..
So I'm worried a little about the heat and Crowds....

Veraletta.
We go over other year in July and have a wonderful time.

Just some things to keep in mind:

It is very HOT, so know where all the misters and shadey spots are so you can catch quick breaks.
Schedule inside shows for the hottest times of the day.

We usually hang around our hotel pool until 11ish, then head to the parks with a late lunch reservation.
We also find that by heading out later, we stay until the parks close--outlasting much of the crowd. Have got to say that being in the Parks til closing is something my teenage DS and DD adore.

Pacing is important...don't try to do too much too early; with extended hours, you'll get to see everything with the luxury of sleeping in late !!
See ya July 2004 (July 2003 is Dollywood !)

Thanks dzneelvr.
I feel a little better about going.. We did go in late May one year, that I do remmeber the heat was in the 90's and even 100, and we found that the first day was the hardest.

I think that the best thing to do would maybe take a nap about noon time or go to the pool... for a nice break..

I'm just so use to going in Oct and April now.. I'm starting to worry about, if I can do the park in July... as May and June were the latest time that we went to the park for years, while our kids were growning up...

but it was so hard to pass up the FT package, So I 'm going with my oldest child, her husband and her two children age 2 and 5.

I will be babysitting kids at night for mom and dad to get some free time...

Im also going this july..i've been in july before. Besides it being scorching hot, the crowds are also massive! So if you have little children you might want to not be there the whole day. Personally, I plan on going when it opens, and stay till when it closes..but then im a teenager. If you can't handle the heat, find some shade and just chill for a while.

We were there last July 7-12. We were at the parks before the gates opened and did most of what we wanted in the first couple hours. When it got even hotter midday, we went back to the hotel for a break. Then we went back to the parks for the evening. I brought a small battry powered fan that fit in my fanny pack. I only used it while waiting in line. It is HOT. Just plan accordingly and drink plenty of water.
