We are headed to VB (home is BWV) for MLK weekend in January with DW, DD and 6 yr old DS who is wheelchair bound. Clearly we will need something without stairs, but do the Handicap studios differ that greatly from the "standard" studios. Do they all have the roll-in shower or do some have tubs?
I have read fellow members griping about being put in a H/C room; one that sticks in my memory was someone at VWL in a H/C room without closets! now that would be untenable; I can live with just a shower if it gets me that little bit of extra space, but no closets would be horrible.
In many hotels, we have found that the H/C rooms have just enough extra space to make it comfortable with DS's little wheelchair and his rambunctious 4 yr old sister. Just for comparison, we were at AKL last week and found the standard savannah view room just a little tight, tho quite livable.
This will be our first visit to VB and our first use of our DVC membership (Yay!), and we are looking forward to escaping a small portion of January in the Boston area for the balmy breezes of the Florida coast (Hey, I'm from Maine, so anything above freezing is balmy in January).
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
