:rotfl2: Well it is Iceland! I am actually thinking they look so cute! Rosey cheeks having fun in the snow.

My kids have never made a snowman, they would love to. I've only seen snow maybe three or four times in my whole life. Your kids are adorable!

Awww, they're so cute :lovestruc! Thx for sharing Freyja! Now where's the hot chocolate? :goodvibes

Thanks :) They really loved it (although their mom thinks it´s still a bit too early for snow, lol). I´m glad they were able to go out and have fun since it´s supposed to rain tomorrow.

So when is a normal "first" snowfall for you, how long into the spring does it last and what are "normal" temperatures in the winter-say Dec, Jan, Feb? How warm does it get in the summer months?

Freya, I just opened the link to the home exchange site. Is that your home? It's lovely! That sounds like a very interesting way to travel.

For as much as I hate cold weather, winter, and snow. I have to admit that is a really cute picture.

Cute!! My kids have never made a snowman either, well unless you count the one they made that was about 4 inches tall...LOL Mom didn't have much snow that year so they could only make a snowbaby. :)

awwww....cute! But I agree, too early for snow!

Well - no snow here, but we did go straight from summer to winter. (looking forward to some mild Autumn weather later this week.)

In the North it usually starts snowing in October, but we´re getting less and less snow here in Reykjavik (damn global warming), and it hardly ever arrived before late October/November. We only have a few days/weeks of snow each year now, although there usually is some in the mountains.
Temps in Dec-Feb. are:
Average low: 28 F
Average high: 36 F

Summer months:
Average low:48 F
Average high: 58 F

Thank you! We´ve never tried a homeexchange before but we´re really excited about the thought of it.

Our snowmen seem to be getting smaller and smaller every year.

Your kids are so cute and they did a great job on the snowman!! I bet they were so proud!

You are warmer than I expected in the winter but way cooler than I expected in the summer.

That´s what most people think. However, our summers have been getting considerably warmer and we get quite a few nice summer days now, where we can actually enjoy laying by the jaccuzzi in the garden.

What can you grow in Iceland? I know that fishing is huge. I love Icelandic Haddock. It is the only kind of Haddock I will eat.

We grow potatoes, various root vegetables and cabbage outdoors. However, we grow a number of things in greenhouses (and have quite a few of them, since power is so cheap in Iceland), such as peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes and mushrooms. We don´t have any domestic grown fruit though (unless you count the few strawberries and grapes grown in some private greenhouses).
