Cam's New Lease on Life Journal (comments welcome!)

Thank you so much, WISH friends, for keeping my journal on the front page. I'm afraid I've been in a deep, dark funk and completely overwhelmed by life and work. I am digging myself out and trying to get back on track. ANd I truly appreciate all the support here.
I have a feeling my doctor's appointment tonight is going to be just ugly when I step on the scale, but it is never too late to start again and to get back on the ball, right?
Thank you again for your support. I'm going to be here more often, as soon as I have anything worth saying. :lmao:

Hi Cam
sorry life hasnt been treating you well
But glad to hear your working through it & seeing light at the end of the tunnel:goodvibes
Hope the Dr's appointment goes well, & yep its never too late to start again ;)
You always have something worth saying! Just waffle on like me ;)
Remember you dont just have to talk about diet/exercise issues all the time,
I personnaly love to hear about the everyday stuff my wish buddies get up to!
Take care

 Cam,

I am sorry that things have been rough for you lately. Just something to think about, but when things aren't going well, it is more important to journal. That way you have an outlet for what you are experiencing, and we can add some support.

Beth

Thank you so much, Beth and Tracey! My appointment was so much better than I expected. The scale wasn't as bad as I feared, and I'd actually lost a few pounds since I was last there. My doctor walked in saying "Well, hello, skinny!" and when I laughed he said "you are literally a mere shadow of your former self" -- he then lectured me on not beating myself up and said I should be proud of all I'd accomplished.
It all made me feel so much better about where I am and it makes me feel so much more positive about moving forward on my journey. It's amazing what some positive support, like I get here, can do for my outlook.
Thank you so much, everyone!

 Cam,

I've missed you WISH sis! I'm so sorry things have been tough for you lately. I think coming here to journal is a great idea because it provides an outlet for our emotions and it allows us to lean on one another when times are tough. We'll be praying for you.:grouphug:

I'm glad your doctor's appointment went well. :thumbsup2 And ya know what? Your doctor is absolutely right! You should be very proud of yourself...You have accomplished so much in the past few years. I am so proud of you!

Keep on keeping on, Cam!:cheer2: Know that your WISH family loves and cares about you and that we will continue cheering you on to VICTORY!:grouphug:

Wow, Tracy, you always say the sweetest things, my dear friend! You certainly know how to touch my heart and inspire me. :cloud9:

I am really going to try to get back in gear. I guess, as it always has, journaling my food and counting points is really the thing I must do to make progress.

Food today:
B: coffee w/skim milk (1)
L: tomatoes & cucumbers (0); tomato & basil tortilla (1); homemade coleslaw (2)
S: LC panini (5)
D: eggbeaters w/turkey bacon & FF cheese on 2 lite MG english muffins (11.5)
-------------------
It's 4:20 and I've only had 4 points, mostly because I have had such a crazy day that I haven't had time to eat.

There are a lot of issues causing stress right now, including DH's MBA class schedule, DS's demanding school and band schedules and transportation issues, the fact that we are about to start a kitchen renovation that I am sure will not be done by Thanksgiving, my lack of motivation for getting my marathon training schedule on a calendar and underway, etc. etc.

None of that is an excuse for total lack of discipline with food, though, so I have to get myself in gear if I don't want to carry all these pounds 26.2 miles in 4 months. At the doctor's office last night, I was 8.6 pounds away from the "decade" I really want to be in! 8.7 pounds seems like an awful lot to lose, but how amazing it would be to lose it before the Tower of Terror!

-----------------------------
I squeezed in 2 miles at the gym tonight in 27:53, including warmup. Not as much jogging as I'd have liked and I was having technical difficulties with the TM that caused it to slow to .5 mph during the workout, causing me to lose time! UGH! Oh, well, still burned 217 calories, and every little bit helps.

It's nearly 11 pm and I am off to do crunches & pushups. Have to get to bed soon to get up early for bloodwork.

Great news from the Dr cam :)
Heres hoping those 8lb's melt away now your rearing to go :)
Stay positive :)

Hi Cam,

You have a lot of stress right now. Sometimes we need to focus on just getting through the day. Don't beat yourself up for not being perfect 100% OF THE TIME. your doc is right, you have done an amazing job, and your should be proud of yourself.

Take care,
Beth

I was just checking in to see how you were doing this weekend.

Take care of yourself,
Beth

 Cam,

How are you doing WISH sis? I hope you are having a good week so far.:goodvibes Be sure and take good care of you.

Hi Cam,

Thank you for your message. You helped me today. Yours was the first journal I read, and your courage and honesty helped me decide to journal in the first place.

So how are YOU doing today?

Thinking about you.
Beth

Thank you so much, WISH friends. I have been so busy at work and then the evenings mostly revolve around DS's schedule because my husband's MBA classes are Mon-Thurs nights. I have been playing single parent attending all weeknight school functions and the nights I don't have commitments I've been mostly a slug.
I am trying to maintain a level of fitness by getting to the gym whenever possible. There are some great, free, drop-in classes for Y members and I attended the core strengthening class last night. It was 25 minutes of core/back stuff and some arm stuff, too. I LOVED it and was so incredibly surprised, but proud, that I was able to keep up with everything the instructor did. I am really going to concentrate on form when I do the class. I'd love to get to it Tuesday and Thursday nights, but may have to be content with just one night. The other class I want to do is muscle pump on Saturday morning and tomorrow is the test. I have to get to the Y early and get in some miles on the TM and then go to the class before meeting a friend and her son for breakfast and then taking her son to my son's school's football game. Lots of other busy-ness this weekend and no home-cooked meals should make it quite the challenge.

My weight is still in the same range, so my compulsive eating hasn't exceeded the exercise or my metabolism or whatever. The bloodwork I had done is all normal so the exhaustion really is a product of my schedule and lack of sleep, thank God!

I really appreciate all the support here, even when I am not journaling well. :grouphug:

This week's exercise has been my 100 crunches and pushups every day; my nearly 4 mile wog Sunday; 40 minutes on the TM yesterday (2.95 miles; 329 calories); and the 25 minute core strengthening class.

Hoping to rack up the miles and minutes and calories this weekend.

I hope all my WISH friends have a fabulous weekend!

Hi Cam

How is your hip feeling? I think I remembered reading a post on the events thread that you were having hip pain :(. Hope all those aches and pains are clearing up as you train! I don't get to post over there...just busy enough keeping up w/ journals it seems and it's hard to keep up with that speedy fast thread over there lol ;).

I always think about you and Howard and wonder how training and your busy schedule is coming along. I'll have to catch up on your journal here and see how life is treating you! And hope that your DD is enjoying U of D again this year :thumbsup2 .

Take care...the workouts you're logging sound impressive! Sending some PD that the tiredness you're experiencing clears up as the nice fall temps settle in :).

Have a great weekend Cam!

Oh, Amy, you're a doll to stop in to visit! IT is so nice to see you! Jenn is loving UD and came home last night to get her car so that she can do some volunteer work at a nearby center for mentally retarded citizens. I have to accept that she'll never get great grades but she is conscientious and has the hugest, sweetest heart. Her marching band is awesome and her smile just lights up the stadium, so I am LOVING having season tickets for home games. Thank you for asking.

ANd you have an awesome memory -- I have had hip issues for more than a year now and continue to have pain after every long walk or run. It only lasts a day or so and I think if I can get back into the habit of investing the time for stretching and a cool soak afterwards, it would vastly improve. However, knowing what to do and making time to do it seem to be two totally different things for me these days. ;)

I am having a hard time keeping up with the thread too, but try to post my workouts and acknowledge everyone's training efforts. I imagine that thread is really goign to explode over the next few months and I just don't know how I'll have time to read, much less respond. Oh, well, we all do our best, right? Thanks again for visiting here, Beth. I am slowly making my way through journals to see how all my WISH friends are doing, since I miss everyone so much!
