We're sending the grandparents out to dinner for their anniversary during our trip in May/June. I made ADRs at Artist Point, but was thinking about changing, as I haven't read a lot of reviews (positive or negative) about it.

He's a retired Marine who likes camping, outdoors, animals, nature, etc. and loves food! She's into the Southwest, rustic (but not primitive) settings, etc. and doesn't tend to eat much. Grampa usually finishes her dinner!! :rotfl:

We're staying at the Poly, so I was trying to stick with a resort restaurant so they wouldn't have to brave the parks on their own (it's a surprise dinner for just the two of them), but if you think there's a PERFECT place in a park, let me know!

Thanks all!

This summer one of our late-night bus drivers was giving a rundown of all his faves as far as fine-dining (he retired to Orlando from NJ) and Artist's Point was in his final three:thumbsup2 I remember California Grill as another but can't recall the third....:confused3 I'm scheduling DH and my 25th anniversary at MGM's Hollywood Brown Derby for a taste of "old Hollywood", but that's in the parks and probably unnecessary for you to switch. Look on allears.net for the exact menu of Artist Point. I would say you did just fine--no point in second guessing....ASMo June 08 here we come:hippie: :wizard: :surfweb: popcorn::

I think you chose wisely too. There are many good choices but Wilderness Lodge /AP have characteristics that seem especially fitting for your grandparents (or is it your parents?).

What a great gift for them!

I also think Artist Pointe is a very good choice for their tastes. The setting is quite lovely and the food is good. Hopefully they will take their time and walk around the resort, both the lobby and outside, and enjoy the decor there. When you made the ADR, did you specify that it was an anniversary dinner? When they check in, they can request a window seat and perhaps get one. The views are spectacular.

And kudos to you for giving them this lovely anniversary gift.

I really think Artist Point is perfect, given your description of your grandparents. They probably also enjoy exploring the WL resort. What a nice gift!

Artist Point is good, but Jiko is better! Like animals? Go outside the resort and you'll see plenty.
