Mckymousefn That's too bad you were at that wet Cubs game the other night! We go to our first game on July 10th!!

I hope you have a blast!! I love the Cubs. I went Tues and it rained....but i am crossing my fingers that tomorrow (Fri) will be nice.

Have fun though!!!

They are in the nicer stores: Macy, Niemann, Carson.

Somehow, I just can't think of Macy's as a nicer store. It's done nothing but gone downhill since it's no longer Marshall Fields.

Huge Cubs fan here!

Macy's is a terrible store. I prefer the Mag Mile. :thumbsup2

Or any of the suburban malls. Woodfield is the best. And Ikea......

Hi all!

Sorry I've been MIA for a few days. I've been reading but not much time to post. Lots of end of year stuff (band concert, scout parties, field trips, etc).

Well, we finally booked our airfare for our Oct trip  :cool1: :yay: . Got a pretty good rate on United ($242 ea, could've gotten $219 but would have lost 3 days-no way!) and DH had enough miles for one ticket so we only had to pay for 4. Had to tweek our ressie since we're going down a day earlier and coming back a day earlier. Luckily AKV had a room so no changes :thumbsup2 . Now I get to "really" plan, only problem is this is a suprise trip so I have to do it while the kids are out. The kids have been asking a lot lately when we're going this year, we keep telling them we might wait til 2009 ;) . DD6 at bedtime tonight said "are we really not going to Disney this year?" in this sad little voice, it was so hard not to spill the beans right then and there!

Mom has been doing pretty good, took her to the coumadin clinic today. Still trying to get her levels right but not too bad.

slo - glad your glucose test didn't find diabetes or hypoglycemia. I don't think I could live if I had a sugar intolerance ;) .

paint - so sorry to hear the restaurant is closing. I hope you find something quickly.
*Congrats on the grades - great job!

Bunchkin - good luck with the garage sale and house sale. Where are you planning to move? DH wants to move to Fla, he teases that we'd save thousands of dollars being closer to WDW  .
*I HATE coffee too but love tea, mostly hot but iced is good in summer.

Zero - welcome back from WDW, would love to read a trip report.

Hershey - I hear ya on those school projects. DD had 3 oral reports in 3rd grade all of which req'd costumes and they were part of the grade :sad2: . What 3rd grader can put together or sew a costume?!
*What about dipping the batting in liquid starch after you form the whirlpool?

momto1 - sorry to hear about the car troubles. Hopefully it won't cost big bucks.

disneygal - love the ticker! I took a peek at the wedding boards, oh how I wish I was planning a wedding again alas DH and I are celebrating 13yrs on Monday. Boy the time goes by so fast!

:wave2: to everyone else - hope everyone's sick kids are better.

It's my walking day tomorrow and then I have a mtg with the other 1st grade room moms to plan the end of year picnic. Maybe if we don't take too long I'll make it out to the Aurora outlet, been wanting to take a cruise out that way.

G'night, have a good one everybody!

:surfweb:

I just love Fridays!!!!! :cool1:

tw1nsmom - Thanks for coming here for advice!!!!! I agree with the other posters that I would come here in October ::yes:: Fall in this area can be quite lovely :goodvibes

MMFan - I'm sorry the game was rained out :guilty: That's a bummer!!!!

Julez - Have fun making your binder!!!! :)

DG - I"m sorry you haven't been sleeping well - that's so frustrating!!!! Do you feel it's something you are eating, or do you think you have a lot on your mind, and your mind is racing???? Whatever it is, I hope it stops soon for you :wizard:

Bunchkin - You are putting your house up for sale  Why? Where are you going? Please tell me you are staying in the area - maybe you are coming closer to me :teeth: Here's some PD for your house to sell fast:wizard: Your house is beautiful, and I'm sure selling it won't be a problem :sad2: Please keep us posted!!!!
**I backed into Kevin's car 12/1/07 when leaving to take Stephanie to her Santas Secret Workshop at her school. I'm sure I mentioned it, because I was pretty upset about it - what a stupid mistake I made!!!!!!!!

peterloveswdw - :welcome:
Thanks for coming by our happy, friendly thread!!!!! :goodvibes Please come by often, we would love to get to know you!!!

ID - Congrats on booking your airfare :cheer2: We need to do that too, as soon as I make a decision on doing that Tower of Terror 13K.
**Having a sugar intolerance isn't easy because I LOVE my sugar!!!!! The only thing it's good for is keeping the weight off, and I've actually lost 5lbs since I stopped eating all the sugar and exercising as much as I do:woohoo:

To everyone else - :wave2:

Well, I gotta run and do my workout, which is indoors today:)
Have a good day today everyone!!!!

Good Morning Everyone!!:flower3: it's FRIDAY!! just a quick post to say hello to everyone. i can't wait to sleep this weekend!!! tomorrow my sister and friend our coming over to help me film a video for a free Disney honeymoon contest!! They said they have an awesome idea but it's a surprise :confused3 we will see what happens! it sure would be nice to win but i'm sure the chances are very slim!!

Slo ~ i'm not sure why i'm not sleeping well. i haven't been eating right before bed so it's not that. and i have a lot on my plate but nothing that is overwelmingly stressful. craziness i say

everyone else ~ :wave2: hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Friday everyone! Today my nephew is graduating from boot camp :cool1:

Bunchkin ~ I echo what Slo asked, where are you moving too?

I read a book about Owen and Mzee as well as a pop-up book called Rexerella.

I went to TrendSetters (a beauty school) to get my haircut yesterday, and spent close to 5 hours there! I am not sure about the cut, but I can live with it. The color however is way darker then I asked for. I said "strawberry blonde, more on the blonde side and not too dark. I don't want red hair." I also said for them not to worry because I would not cry at the results. yeah well, I lied. I help off the tears while i was there, but lost it as soon as I got in the car. It looks nice, don't get me wrong. Dewain really likes it, but it is just not what I asked for. They open up soon, and I will call and talk to them. The teacher last night said it would fade with a few washes, but I can't see it fading enough for me to be remotely happy with it. The hair looks like nothing was done, except shortened. I want them to work on that today too. Last night I needed to get out of there, 5 hours was just too much.

Here are two real bad pictures, :scared: no make-up, hair not done and I just woke up before I took the "after" picture.

Morning all!! Looks like a beautiful day - great day to get out for a walk and some exercise for the old bones (and the dog, too).
Bunchkin, where are you moving too? I agree with Slo - come this way!!!!! A friend of mine will be putting up their house in Frankfort - it's really nice with a built-in pool in the backyard and right near their schools. Her husband is taking a job in Detroit:sad2: so they are relocating. Good schools, nice house. Wait a minute - why don't I buy it? LOL Not a coffee lover here either (love Iced Tea -Lipton Sweetened No Lemon in the bottle:thumbsup2 -it is a horrible addication I cannot lick and it has gotten mighty pricey since it started-darn that supply and demand theory). When I started drinking those bottles, they were .69 each. Now I am lucky to get them for $1.00 each. I think that is worse than a coffee addiction.
Disneygal - good luck with your honeymoon contest video. Happy planning. And I agree with others that it is a great idea to send save the dates. It will give everyone plenty of time to plan and consider a vacation/wedding invite and start saving up.
Slo, glad to hear you are not diabetic. Hopefully just avoing the extra sugar rush will keep you on an even keel and losing weight is the bonus. I only wish I had a chip/dip allergy  Happy walking. It is a wonderful day for it.
Welcome, Peterlovesdisney. Come visit us often. We love new friends here.
Paint, great job on those grades. Muy Bien!!! Enhorabuena!!! (Very good. Congratulations!!) I am sure you are relieved it is over. That wedding is really coming up fast. Doesn't seem possible. I hope it all goes wonderfully well and that you have a most beautiful day!!
ID :cheer2: for airfare for you. I hope I can get some home yet from California. I think I need more pixie dust. So far, nothing.:sad2: I may have to suck it up and pay more for it.
Mickeymousefan-looks like it is a great day for a ballgame.:woohoo: Enjoy!!!
Piglet, how are you doing these days? And family?
Hersey, you have some great advice here for projects. I will have to remember that the next time I have to do something. I am so not creative.:sad2: And I never have any ideas where to begin with these project thingys. I dread school projects (actually I dread school - I thought I did that once already:rolleyes1 :lmao: ) I am struggling to help DD with 4th grade homework. I know I am not smarter than a 5th grader.:worship:
Well, I had better get busy or my nice day will be gone before I get to enjoy it.
Have a great day everyone!!!!

Piglet, I love the hippo/turtle story!!!
Sorry you don't like your haircut. I think they heard red and that was it. It doesn't look bad, but I can see how you would be disappointed if you were looking for blonde.

Good Morning and Happy Friday!!!!!

Piglet too- I loved the book covers. I am interested!

I am surprised by all the Cubs Fans, No Sox Fans??

I wanted to share, Last night I was at Sears at Fox Valley. I needed a new suitcase for my trip. I found a 22" Mickey suit case   It was regular price $120 marked down to $44 and when she rang it up it was $24.97. I bought 2. I am so excited:yay:

They also had a rolling back pack and a duffle bag.

two weeks from today for my first trip to disneyland. Any pointers or must sees while I'm there.

Have a great Friday.:flower3:

two weeks from today for my first trip to disneyland. Any pointers or must sees while I'm there.

The Electrical Parade at DCA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yay: :yay: :yay: It's the best! It looks like it's only on the weekend, though, so don't miss it! :scared: And you can buy a CD of the music. :rotfl: (I did.)

Aladdin show at DCA.
Remember...Dreams Come True fireworks They're great (and I'm not that into fireworks)! Try to get a spot in front of the castle.
Fantasmic

I don't see this on the schedule, but it might be on the paper schedule you get when you're there. If you see a Disneyland Band thing in front of the castle sometime close to the opening, it's pretty cool to see. I just happened to see it. The band plays right in front of the castle, and then some characters come out and dance with the kids, and then Mickey leads the band up Main Street. I would try to catch that, if it's happening while you're there. (I would think it is.) It's a nice little touch. Pretty low-key.

Have tons of fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :dance3:

Disneynut
There are many things the same at both WDW and DL, but must sees and better at DL for me are Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Fantasmic, Remember Dreams Come True fireworks display (very difficult to do Fantasmic and Remember on the same night and have great viewing for both-better to do one on one night and save the other one for a different evening), Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, Nemo is a neat sub ride but only worth it if you are the first through the gate and go straight there. IMHO it is not worth even a 1 hour wait let alone the 2 hours it sometimes is. Last year when we went, I had a broken ankle and we were able to get on in 10 minutes via the wheelchair access. Watch it on YouTube and decide for yourself it is something you think you really need to see. If you have a Star Wars fan in your midst, check out the Jedi Training theater. My DS was a huge SW fan last summer and got picked for training to be a Jedi. He battled Darth Maul. (Vader is also there along with some Storm Troopers)
Over at California Adventure, Aladdin is a great show!!! Of course you can't miss Soarin'. Front row is the best!!! Tower of Terror is better at WDW (if you've done it there, you will be disappointed at DL) You only go up and drop (sometimes up to 4 drops) but your elevator does not leave the elevator shaft and wind around as it does in WDW. A walk through DisneyAnimation building is a nice break out of the heat and a neat experience (Turtle Talk is in there as well as some other neat experiences)
Those are my favorites. Hope that helps.

Hey Leigh. We posted at the same time. I see we have lots of the same favorites!!!:thumbsup2

Yeah, and I didn't even get to the rides! :lmao:

For the rides I would def say Space Mountain is waaaaay better at DL. Buzz Lightyear is better, because you can pick up your guns to shoot, and then e-mail your picture back home from the ride. And POTC is better.

You can't miss Toontown, it's waaaay cooler, and don't forget Mr. Toad!

Can you tell I love DL? :worship:

I hope you have a blast!! I love the Cubs. I went Tues and it rained....but i am crossing my fingers that tomorrow (Fri) will be nice.

Oooh! Have fun! I heard they don't cover the field anymore? I was there one year when they shut down and covered the field during a shower and a fan jumped out and did a giant slip-and-slide across it! It was hilarious! :rotfl2: The crowd went wild! I'm sure he got in trouble but it was prolly worth it!

Somehow, I just can't think of Macy's as a nicer store. It's done nothing but gone downhill since it's no longer Marshall Fields.

I agree. We have one out here in Rock Vegas (Rockford) and I liked it at first, but now I really miss my Fields.

tomorrow my sister and friend our coming over to help me film a video for a free Disney honeymoon contest!! They said they have an awesome idea but it's a surprise.

Awesome! Good luck!

OMG about the Disney suitcases! I am SO going to Sears after work today!

Oh... gosh I LOVE DL! Please do a trip report when you get back! Check my siggy for my pre-trippie. A great book to pick up at Barnes & Nobles' is Birnbaums Guide to Disneyland. The 2008 edition lets you in on just about everything.

ToonTown is so adorable, Small World is down for refurbishment until Dec. but get a pic of the outside, I thought it was dif. from FL's?

Don't miss the new Pixar Play parade and def. see the Electrical Parade if it's on while you are there!

They have the brand new monorail that sounds AWESOME according to the disneyland.com podcast and they made it almost like an attraction onto itself-which is practically is at DLR because it only takes you to DTD and back.

You MUST see Primeval World by boarding the DL train at Tommorowland. It comes immediately after the Grand Canyon between Tommorowland Station and Main Street Station. You can find footage on YouTube. It's only at DLR and it's worth seeing at least once. I missed it on my first trip and don't intend on missing it this Oct.

Be sure to look at the window above the Fire Station- the light is left on there as a tribute to Walt. This was his private apartment in the park- which was left as it was when he died in 1966.

Aladdin show at DCA.

Great tips! I'll incorporate these into my trip as well!

hi piglet..
the hair cut and new color is very flattering for you.
you look younger in the new picture. i think it is the hair color that does that as you can wear the red quite well. not everyone can.

if you want the red out of your hair, wash it with Prell shampoo.
do around 3 washes with prell and it will strip the red coloring out and tone it down.

two beauticians i know advised me to do that when my coloring was too dark and reddish. it worked!

kmart, walmart i know carries Prell shampoo. it has a lot of detergent in it and strips color each time you use it.
and, any shampoo that is of a green coloring, has more detergent in it.

my beautician always tells me to stay away from shampoo products that are green due to the detergent agent in them.

Hi everyone. I read a request somewhere (sorry I forgot who asked) that y'all would like to get to know me better. I don't really know what to say, so feel free to ask questions. I'll answer them when I can.

So get asking people! :rolleyes1

Hi all-

DH's cataract surgery went really well yesterday!:thumbsup2
We were at Day Surgery only 2 hrs total. It went really fast!
DH had his follow-up 1 day post op appt. this morning. Everything looked really good! His eye bandage came off and his vision is so good now in the eye he had surgery on :thumbsup2 He even went into work this afternoon.
Thank you all for your prayers and good thoughts. Very appeciated :goodvibes
Last night, the kids had some school function to be at, so had to drive them to that last night.

I have an extremely busy weekend this weekend. Family wedding shower to attend and other things going on. I'm so exausted! :faint:

Welcome peterloveswdw :welcome:
Do you live or work near Woodfield Mall and Ikea in Schaumburg?
