Can you tell me who you book DCL vacations with? It appears the tour operators are constantly changing rates for the exchange. Not a good thing. Althought it still apears to be cheaper than DU paying the exchange.

Any good agents out there? We have family in Florida so we will be driving.

What part of Toronto are you in? We booked through a travel agent in Courtice, and they are amazing!! They booked our last Disney Cruise and our upcoming one through "Air Canada Vacations", and it was cheaper than DU, or travelocity. When Canada 3000 went under, they were instrumental in getting our money back. We just booked the cruise through them, not our airfare, as we decided to drive also.

Nice to see another Canadian on this sight!!:D

We booked our April 2002 cruise thru a travel agent in Cedarbrae Mall, Markham and Lawrence in Scarborough. They were great! Got the best price when we booked and when we payed they got us a better rate and we saved again. They book lots of cruises and have been doing buisness for 50 years.
If this helps or if you want more info just reply to this post with my name highlighted and I will get back to you.:smooth:

You might want to post on the Canadian Visitors board also, there are a lot of cruisers there.
Anything that deals with Canada is posted on this board:bounce:

I've used the AMEX Travel at Cloverdale Mall.
Precilla is very nice.
She's helped with all travel arrangements.

We booked through Air Canada Vacations (cruise only). When I compared the rates back in April with the exchange at that time, the price was comparable to DU. But since one never knows what's going to happen to our poor dollar, I decided not to risk any further drop before my final payment is due. One advantage is that I didn't have to pay the equivalent US $1000 deposit for the 4 of us. They only required a deposit of Cdn $375 per adult. I believe Air Canada Vacations handles most of the Canadian business for Disney, so the rates from TA to TA should be comparable (it was in my case).

We used Carlson Wagonlit and they were a little cheaper than Dreams Unlimited. We wanted to be protected from any currency fluctuations so we were leary of using a US agent. When we booked, Royal Bank was posting an exchange rate of 1.62 so if you add on the extra couple percent that VISA charges, it was ridiculous. We were quoted in Cdn dollars and paid our deposit in Cdn.

Thanks so much for all your help, I finally booked with a TA downtown, I held the spot last week, and overnight the price of our 8/16/2003 cruise went up $500 for 4. This CDN$ is so bad.

My TA did say however that the "wholesale travel group" is usually the lowest. I refused to go with them on grounds such as; they would'nt tell me which tour operator the ticket was with unless I booked, and they refused to tell me what the breakdown was per person. I did not trust them to see my best interest all the way through.

By the way any Canadians sailing 8/16/03?

Keep watching the rates. I'm counting on the springtime magic promo bringing my rate down (we're going the week of the Victoria Day weekend). You may not have alot of luck in August but if the dollar gets better, the rate may change. We lucked out last year when we went to Disney. There was a period of about 2-3 weeks when the dollar recovered slightly and we bought our US cash during those times. Our overall exchange rate was 1.54. By the time we left for our August trip, it was back up to 1.59-1.61.

10yrann - CAA has a special on (I think it's still running) where you get $175 in travellers' cheques (CDN$) and a 25$ credit to your CAA account, which can be used against your next annual membership fee. I forget how much money you had to spend (maybe $4,000??) in order to be eligible. Their basic price was exactly the same as the cruise specialist TA I visited.
