Calling All 8/19/06 Special Western Cruisers! AKA "The Cruisin' Castaways" Part 2

Good morning everyone :) It's raining here this morning, but better that than snow.

First of all, if I were going to be booking a Disney cruise for summer 2008, I'd feel 100% comfortable in letting All Seasons Travel handle it for me, as they've done in the past. Actually, I still have that request for a Cat 3 cabin, for mid August, in with them. LOL I never did call them back to tell them "nevermind" because we hadn't officially decided to not cruise in 2008 yet.

83 weeks isn't bad at all; when we all started counting down for the August 2006 cruise, we started at 90-something weeks. :hourglass :teacher:

Just out of curiosity, the other day I checked on Delta.com to see what the airfare (1 way) would be to fly from Boston to Los Angeles, this summer (August 17), and it was only $134 per person! I thought that was extremely reasonable, and I wonder if it was a low fare, or if that's how much it usually costs! Also, it was a non-stop flight!!! Ok, I just checked it again right now, and it's STILL that same price... so that might be good news for all of you repo-ers! :)

Hi Dori, great to hear from you! I'm glad that you and Devin are doing well. :grouphug:

I did get a "DING" special from Southwest yesterday, from PHL to CA a one-way ticket was going for $69.00, of course the ticket could only used between now and the end of February of this year, but there is hope for 2008!!! That flight was to Ontario, CA airport, not LAX.

Good morning all......

I think DCL should have one phone number and reservation agents specifically for the repo cruise, one phone number and reservation agents for the west coast cruises and then a different one for everything else.

Hopefully we avoid the free-for-all that occurred last time.

I agree, 83 weeks is not so bad.

Yes, it will be interesting to see what the prices will be. I hope its affordable for you guys for the repo (I shudder to think what my onboard charges would be over 2 weeks). I really enjoyed reading all the live posts from the last time. Its just not something that we're interested in at this time. We just prefer the Caribbean in the summer (we'd be willing to do a 1/2 repo).

Just popped in to say "Hi!".

I'm still working totally ugly hours. (They even cancelled my week off at Christmas.)

Other than turning the latest virus into sinus infections, Devin and I are doing well.

I hope that everyone is doing well. I miss y'all and wish we were still on the Magic having a good time.

Take Care!!!!

Dori :wave2:

Hi Dori and Devin, it was nice hearing from you tablemate. ;)

Take Care!!! :goodvibes

Mike was dying to the repo cruise in 05 & was bummed we couldn't make it due to school schedules. He said he's always wanted to sail the Panama Canal. I mentioned to him yesterday that the Magic will very likely be returning on the 30th so we could go & he didn't seem thrilled. We have the brand new NCL Gem booked out of NY for April/08 & he was really looking forward to going freestyle again. He just hates being told what time to get ready & then having to rush & I have to agree that it's really nice to go to dinner where & when you like. Plus he also gets really bad vertigo AFTER the cruise. It doesn't affect me but he feels like he is still cruising for about a week & he is worried how long a 2 week cruise will affect him. So now I guess if I get a really great deal it would be a possibility for us, but it is starting to look less likely. :guilty:

Not sure what is going to happen now. A few weeks ago the transmission went in my mom's car, she didn't have the $$ to get it fixed, so I sent her the needed $$. I just received a call from her a few minutes ago, her car is back in the shop and the engine is shot. The car has nearly 140,000 miles on it. So, it is either going to cost another 3 G's to have the engine replaced, or she has to get another car. I advised her to get another car, either way, it's going to cost me more $$.

I asked her before the transmission was fixed if it was worth putting the $$ into the car, she said other than the transmission, the car was running fine, little did we know a few weeks later this would happen.

Hopefully my mom can aquire a loan, if not, it looks like my next cruise will have four wheels.

Sorry to hear this, Andy. :( I always hate the unknown factor when it comes to car repairs. John and I both have fairly new vehicles so we haven't had to put out any money except for maintenance costs for a few years now, but still, eventually the cars (actually, a truck and a mini-van) will be "old" and will begin to need work.

You are such a good son, Andy.

Mike was dying to the repo cruise in 05 & was bummed we couldn't make it due to school schedules. He said he's always wanted to sail the Panama Canal.

When I told my husband that it looked like the Magic was going to CA. He and I both remembered that someone told us that the Panama canal repo cruise would be great! After a bit more recollecting we realized we'd both heard it from you and Mike! :rotfl:

We may not be tied down by the local school schedule in 2008 so now we are confounded as to when to cruise. :confused3 I think the prices may be our guide, also.

We would really like to do a repo cruise especially while our son is still little, as excrusions are tricky with him. (for example: he only wanted to play in the foot bath in Cozumel at the beach resort) More days at sea may be great for us.

What times of year are cheapest? I've heard September (here maybe?) We LOVED  the weather in August. We've had an excursion or two cancelled in the winter.

Andy: I'm sorry to hear about your mother's car! I hope she gets the vehicle she wants AND you can travel as you like! My family loves your cruise knowledge and reports!

Leslie...that is funny that you heard it from us! Now it doesn't even look like we will be going on the repo! We may just stick with the NCL Gem out of NY in April/08.

As far as cheapest I would say January....but September usually has some really good deals if you are looking to cruise at that time.

Nice talking to you again! Hope all is well with you & your family!

Hi All
We woke up this AM to ice covered cars, and then rain. Russell moved back to school today for his last college semester. I was kind of teary eyed as he left, as I cannot believe that four years are almost up. Took my car to get new tires and found that I needed some engine work. I sure hope to get some OT in this week, That will certainly help. More ice and snow is in the forecast, so maybe tomorrow will be a snow day.
'09 is looking better and better for me.

Dori, good to hear from you.

Andy, how did your mother's car problems work out?

Terry, always glad to hear from you.

Mary Rose, where are you?

Andy, how did your mother's car problems work out?

I will be depositing money into my mom's checking account Tuesday morning so she can get herself another pre-owned car on Wednesday.

Hi everyone:

Yesterday we went to the memorial service in Connecticut for our friend who got killed in the car accident last week. On the drive home, we got a call on DH's cell phone that his grandmother died last night at 6pm. This was not at all unexpected; we just saw her Saturday night and knew she would not be around much longer. She was 93 years old and until very recently she lived a happy, healthy, and very productive life. Still, it's very sad to lose someone in death, no matter what the situation. So....DH, DSs, and I will be going to the wake on Wednesday, and the funeral is Thursday. I'll be happy when this week is over.

Elaine: :hugs: I know you'll miss Russell, but look at how well he's done for himself these last 4 years. I know you're so proud of him. :) :) :)

Terry, once again our prayers and thoughts are with you, John, the boys, and the rest of the family. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Terry, again my deepest sympathies to you, John, and your sons. May you be watched over during these difficult times.:grouphug:

Congrates on the DVC

Sadly we had to cancel our contract for DVC and now the repro will not work as it gets back to late. School will allready been in session

This combined with no 7 day cruises in the caribbean for another year just makes this a crappy anouncement.

I had a hold date booked that I was going to move to the summer cruise in 2008, looks like I will need to move this 2 or 3 more times.

Well happy sailing.
