to check on my reservations for Memorial Weekend. I was able to add an extra night on due to a cancellation. :teeth: I asked if everything was up and running and recieved a resounding yes!!! They said even the restaurants were opened! They are sending me a new brochure with info., but I am not sure if there will be much info on the dining options. If someone has been there recently and could give me an idea regarding quality, price, and type of dining I would be very thankful!

Thanks for the update...we'll be there next week and its good to know that everything is up and running!!!!!:)

Now that's interesting. I spoke w/my source over the weekend. It told me it had been in touch with someone who works (had been working there through the closure) there. This person told my source that they had a little 'problem' during the grand reopening.

The ceremony was over and the brass was walking in the original building when all of a sudden, the pipes burst. Sewage (not just water) went every where. My source did not know which section of the old hotel this was in, but I'm curious if any one who's been there recently has seen a section closed down. In their infinite wisdom, they never bothered to change the pipes (which desperately need changing due to all of the leaks that place had) when the place was closed for 2yrs.

From what I heard, the carpet in that area will need to be ripped up and replaced. I did not hear if any of it went into any of the rooms, however sewage would leave a nasty stench. I have to believe a part of the hotel must be closed down for the safety and health of the guests.

some friends called yesterday and were able to book the first week of June with no problems at all--other than what FirstNo is posting (that that just sounds GROSS), it sounds like things are finally be finished!

Good grief.....I really did not need to hear the dooms day report about bursting pipes and sewage floating around a few days before we arrive at SOG. I'm starting to believe that this place is under some kind of "curse". Perhaps we could get Tink to sprinkle a whole lot of pixie dust over this resort!
I'm sure they are doing everything possible to ensure that the guests are happy and comfortable...so let's all be positive and hope for the best.:)

No curse, just poor management decision making. It may not be SoG's fault. They could have requested funds to replace the pipes and were told no due to the cost of the expansion. Who knows... :(

First rule of military construction: you MAY get funds to build new, but you WILL NOT get funds to repair infrastructure!

I have been searching everywhere for information on Shades of Green!! I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has visited SOG since it reopened. We are leaving May 22 hopefully...might have a deployment to contend with. ::MickeyMo

I just called the front desk at SOG and they told me that the only restaurant open right now is Evergreens. They did not have any opening dates for the other two restaurants.

thanks for that information. I just hope we are not terribly disappointed staying here. Our family are veterans when it comes to Disney and have always stayed on property. We still are looking forward to our trip!! Nice to meet a fellow Rhode Islander :wave2:

Wow! only one resturant open? We will arrive next Friday 4/16/04. We so love the old SOG. I have been on line for a while looking for all the info on the new SOG. Does anyone know how it looks out front now? I heard the added another pool, I sure hope so. Let us know please! :earsboy:
