C25K! Anyone else in?

I did it!! The dreaded W5D3!! :cheer2: The last 4-5 minutes of the running part I went really s-l-o-w, but since I'd made it that long, I wasn't going to walk. I have a feeling that my knees will be really sore tomorrow, as they are a bit twingy now. Tomorrow will be a rest day, then back at it on Friday.

I am now a C25K graduate! I have finished the program and plan to run my first 5K next Saturday. Thanks for all the support, and best wishes to all of you. You CAN do it!

HI new to this thread!!! I just started this program. w1d1 complete for today. I thought it wouldn't be too bad since I do walk 3 miles on the treadmill but the jogging part was harder than I anticipated. It didn't help that I was going up a slight incline during when I hit my first 60 seconds of jogging. LOL I made it through and am excited to work the program!

I hope this motivates me to shed some pounds. I don't have a goal in mind but I am thinking somewhere between 25 to 40 lbs--depending on how I feel about my body.

:welcome: Congrats for getting started! :thumbsup2

I just finished W8D1. It was a little harder than my last run. I wanted to quit at 25 minutes, but I pushed myself to go the entire 28.

Congratulations! I have today and Saturday (which is also a 5K) and I'll also graduate! Great feeling, isn't it?!?!?!

Add me to the graduates list! :yay::yay::yay::yay: I started Feb. 8, so 2 months and 2 days later, I am a runner. Ok, jogger. Avg. an 11"40' mile, running the 5K distance. I am so excited. I love the Nike+ app for my itouch, and got the sensor to attach to my shoe. It's very informative and motivating.

I started with weight loss on Jan. 18, started c25k on Feb.8, and I have lost 31 pounds. I feel terrific!

If you are just starting, keep at it! You can soooo do this!

Attempted W4D1 this morning but failed. I got so frustrated with myself, but it was a cross between the heat (I live in South Florida) and being dehydrated I think. I have a two day rest and i'm going to try again on Tuesday. If I can't do it, i'll probably revert back to W3 :(

Well, I finished week 6 yesterday, and I still cannot believe I ran for 25 minutes. For everyone who's new, if I can do this, so can you. I hardly made my first minute 6 weeks ago, and have really committed to the 3 days/week, and I'm doing it. It's such a great feeling. I'm going to sign up for my first 5K in the middle of june. I think I need a focus for after I'm finished with the c25k.

Congratulations on starting. It is such a great program, and 6 weeks ago, I could hardly run the full minute, but this week, I ran 25 minutes. It is amazing, and I never thought I would be as motivated to continue, but the program works. Good luck.

Whoo hoo!!! You ran 20 minutes!!! I'm a little nervous about week 7 because there are no more walking intervals, but I've felt nervous about every week so far, and been able to do it.

 Hang in there, it can be hard, but if you need to repeat that's ok. It must be tough in the florida heat. Good luck tuesday! You can do it!!

Try not to get frustrated. We all have good and bad days with running. You are getting to the point in the program where I felt very discouraged at times. Just stick with it, have faith in yourself, and allow yourself to have bad days. It's getting back out there that matters. :thumbsup2

I completed W8D2 today. One more 28 minute run and then I move on to the final week! I'm scheduled to run my last day of the program a week from Tuesday.

Hang in there. I tried running in the heat one day, and it didn't work well at all. My comfy running temp is around 60, 70 tops. You may have to do really early mornings in the Fl. heat/humidity.

I actually did much better once the intervals were over, you can do it, I promise!

You go girl!! You're the one that inspired me to start in the first place! I'll be checking in often. I am having my teeth cut out in 2 weeks, so I'll be out of running for a while, it will be interesting to see how far it sets me back!

I just started this program today, and I am getting inspiration reading this thread. I only ran 2 1/2 of the runs. Ugh! I'm hoping W1D2 will be better. Anyway--congrats to everyone and their success!

Just curious, what do people do to ease pain in the shins?
I haven't had any problems yet but, I am paranoid about getting shin splints. I have read a lot of about it and it seems most people say to stretch really good before, use some kind of compression socks, and ice after. I hope that helps a bit.

Just catching up with everyone today and it struck me that many of us started C25K because of Carissa.

You see what happens when you write a trip report in the Dis:worship:
Thanks Carissa for getting us all up and at it:yay:

That is one side affect of my PTR that I was not expecting! It has meant a lot to me that I have inspired so many to start their own journey. And I'm so glad I got to meet you! You are the sweetest! :goodvibes

Tomorrow is W4D1. I'm very nervous. I've decided to do it on the treadmill because I know it will be a little easier. Depending on how I do I'll try day 2 or 3 outside. I hope I can do it. Week 3 was hard on me.

I graduated, too!!!! Feels great! But I still have a long way to go! Your pace is excellent! Mine is no where near that yet! I am still very, very SLOW! But I am down 22 pounds as well as several inches and I feel such a sense of accomplishment!!!!

I bought 2 more books this weekend by John Bingham (I had already bought Marathoning for Mortals). I bought Running for Mortals as well as his first book, Courage to Start. If anyone needs additional inspiration his books are great! They are also very informative as well and have training plans in them. Also, if anyone is interested, Runner's World magazine has an issue out now geared just to new runners. It's also got some great information in it.

My plan is to get down to that 3-miles in 30 minutes and then start training for the 2011 Disney Princess Half Marathon, using Bingham's training program.

I've had a hard time all along actually calling myself a "runner" because I am so slow and I have such a long way to go. I just didn't feel the term applied to me - yet. However, Bingham says no matter what your pace is, as long as you are moving forward you are a runner! So, I guess I've been a "runner" all along! We are all RUNNERS!

I look back at when I first started and remember thinking I'd never make it to this point, but I am so glad I stayed with it and finished. It's so true...ANYONE can do this!

I am seriously considering starting this program. I even downloaded the W1D1 podcast internal thingy to my iPod.

Reading this thread has given my some inspiration and I'll subscribe to it, so I can keep up with it.

I've got a long way to go, but I know I need to do something and I think this time in my life is right.

Wish me luck!

Mickeefan- you can do this! Seriously, I am about 90lbs overweight and I am on week 3. We are here for you!

I did w3d2 today. I was scared because, I hadn't run in a week. I am afraid I will be behind for week 4 but, I am just going to see how I feel Weds. when I do my next run.

Good news, my friend brought her treadmill over yesterday and traded me for my elliptical for a while. :cool1: No excuses now! I did go outside today. It was so beautiful out! When I was done I was waiting for another 90 sec run and was surprised I was done already! A lot better than last week. I was also in the heat and still a bit sick last week and was huffing and puffing like crazy! Today was awesome!!!

Also, hit my 5% at weight watchers this week! I put my workout pants on today and they slipped right on, no tugging!
