C25K! Anyone else in?

Okay...confession time here. I was supposed to do W5D2 today, but when I saw that it included an 8 minute run, I chickened out and did W5D1 again. For those of you that have done it, is it as big a hump as it sounds? :confused3

The first hump I had a hard time getting over was the 5 minute run in Week Four. But if you can do that, then you should be able to do the 8 minute run with no problems. You can do it!

Wow to those who have run 5K! That's great!!!
I did w7d1 today. Including the 5 minute warm-up and 5 min cool-down, I did 2.3 miles in 35 minutes. Not too bad! One issue is that I'm starting to get bored on the longer runs....

I ran again today after a week of b/c of shin splints. I wore Zensah calf compression sleeves, and they really helped! Because of the week off, however, I couldn't go as far. I ran 2 miles, walked a half, and then ran another half. I was supposed to run 3 today (I am on W9D2), so I didn't count it. I'll get back on track next time!

Today was my last day of Week 2 and i'm so scared to start week 3 because of that 3 minute run in the middle, thats when i start to feel the burn and im afraid i cant do it. Im thinking of doing week 2 over again, please tell me its not that hard!

You might want to switch over to C210K... I'm at the end of week four, and I'm still doing 2 minute springs. I am doing 60 minutes instead of 30, but it's helping me build my endurance.

Oh awesome! If i can't do it that could definitely be the better option!

I am going to start week 3 this next week too. I think we should both try it! :thumbsup2 If not you can always go back to week two but, I think we can do it!

Okay...I did it. W5D2, that is. It really wasn't as hard as I thought. However, I took a peek at W5D3. All I can say is....:scared1::scared1: 20 minutes of non stop running!! I knew it was coming up, but somehow I thought it would be later...week 8 or something like that. I noticed that once you get past that, you go back to shorter intervals of running again. Anyone know a reason for the drastic jump in week 5?

For those in the early weeks of the program, I just want you to know that a few short weeks ago, I was where you are. I was anticipating the 3 minute run and wondering if I could do it.

I am now running for 25 minutes straight!! Just a couple of weeks ago I was feeling discouraged because I felt like I was struggling with the program and those ahead of me were using the word "easy" sometimes to describe their 25 minute runs. Well, I get it now! I can't say it's "easy" but it definitely is much easier than I ever thought it would be.

Stick with the program and you will be where we are. It really does work! :thumbsup2

Finished W8. Running outside and finishing 2.5 miles in 29-30 minutes.

I'm doing W8 again next week, then moving to 3 miles for W9 (should be completed in 36-39 minutes). I have registered for my first real 5K on May 12th!

I have a question for you. My playlist is getting a little monotonous, and I am starting to be like Pavlov's dog. Now, every time "Imma Be" and "How Low Can You Go?" come on the radio, I feel the need to run! What is your "Power Song"? The one that gets you through when you need a boost?

ONLY 3 MORE RUNS UNTIL I AM DONE! Finished week 8! :cool1: I did get the 5K in today, but 5 minutes of it was walking the warm up. I stopped my workout on Nike + when I got to 5K, so I am not including the cool down. I am super psyched, finished in 36 1/2 minutes, with a 11:41 pace! It was HOT at 10:40 this morning, I am a little stressed about the heat coming up. I'll definitely be running early or late...... I also need to get some sleeveless, wicking shirts.

Those just starting - I PROMISE YOU CAN DO THIS! I have "struggled" each and every run. Some I thought I would die. Now, I think I am going to die the first mile and half or so, then do great for a while. I love the updates on the c25K app, it tells me halfway done, 10 minutes left, 5, 2,1...

I am really worried about where to go from here. I think I will just keep running, run the full 5K, and see if my speed improves. I have heard, and thought about, making 1 one a week a little longer, maybe 5.5K for a few weeks, and then up to 6K, etc. I have to have goals and plans, or I won't ever keep it up. I love my nike + sensor. It was only around $20, and I got a little velcro case that wraps around my shoelaces, I think it was $7. Got them off amazon. It's great to see all the stats, I think it will make me stay in the game!

I just finished week 5, and in the first 3 weeks, I felt exactly the same way, but looked at the total times I was running, and that decreased each week, so instead of having 6 running sessions, in week 3, the totat goes down to 6, so that was a big motivator for me to keep going. Just give it a try, and stop if you need to, but if you go slow and relax, you'll be fine. You can do it!!!

Hey, I'm just a day ahead of you this week. I looked ahead last week, and had been worried about the 20 min too, but I took my time, and it wasn't much worse than the w5d2. A girl I work with is a runner, and she has been so encouraging, and when I came last week and said I had run 1/4 mile, she said that if I can do that, I will be able to do a mile, and the idea is just to stay in control of your breathing and focus, and slow down if it's too much. You can do it!!! I also give myself the option to stop and repeat a day or week if needed. I was thinking the program only wants us to have one long run each week for this and next week, maybe so we don't do too much too soon, and slowly build us up to longer runs. Good luck!!

I totally agree with this. 5 weeks ago, I didn't make every 60 second run, and today I did 20 min, so this is so true.

That pace sounds so fast and fabulous. Congratulations. I was also thinking of what I will do when this program is over, because I like and need to have a plan in place, or I'm afraid I will slowly slack off. I was thinking of trying the c210k, and picking up somewhere in the middle, that way I'd increase my time and distance running.

Today I did w5d3, and ran for 22 minutes and did 1.5 miles. I've been doing the time frame in the program, and figure as the next 4 weeks progress, I'll start to increase to do the distance, so hopefully at the end of the program, I'll actually run the 5k, though it will be more than the 30 minutes. I was thrilled to run at a 15 minute mile!! It made me think that if I keep it up, I will be able to run the princess half next year and not be swept. :yay:

Thank you to everyone who posts there journeys here. It has been so inspiring for me through the past month. I am now the one who can say, If I can do it, so can you.

Just downloaded this today, have a question.. I am currently walking 6-8 miles a day, on this program what sort of schedule should I follow??? Should I do Week 1- Day 1 for 2 days or on the following day simply walk what I currently am doing????

Thanks for the encouragement-I needed to hear this because I've been struggling a bit (time and motivation issues-what else is new:lmao:). But you know what the sun is shining here today so here goes (nothing to lose except my breathe:rotfl:)-WK2D1 Again!!

Yeah you want to have a rest day in between but, you can still do other things like walk, weights, elliptical etc. So you could do Mon. c25k, Tues. walk, Weds. c25k, Thurs walk, Friday c25k. You should be ahead of the game with all the walking that is impressive!

Good luck!

Thanks for all the motivation guys! I'm about to go outside and attempt W3! Updating my iphone with some more workout jams, and i'm out the door!! Everyone have a happy and blessed easter, i'll be back to report on how it went!

I did it! I was able to run the three minute run!! It was painful towards the end but I kept picturing a distant tree as a finish line!! I am so excited and I just want to say thank you. Without somebody in your life going "you can do this, i've done this and i know you can do this" its a lot more difficult, and i'm glad i've found a group of people doing exactly what i'm doing so that they can support me.

Thank you!! :woohoo::woohoo:
