C25K! Anyone else in?

I still haven't done my W2D1 yet. I ended up with a bladder infection yesterday. I am going to try to go tonight. I wish I had a treadmill. I used to but, it languished in dust for years and years and I finally sold it at a garage sale.

Y'all are doing so well!!!:yay:

Did the luck of the Iwish 5k yesterday (more walking than running) and today my knees ache-any ideas on what to do? They're not swollen just achey, even when sitting and I had intended to start week 2 tomorrow but now I'm not sure if I should give them a day or 2 to recover.

Hope you're feeling better. :cutie:

I was disappointed in my W1D2 yesterday... I may re-do it today instead of cross training.

Try not to get too disappointed. I found W1D2 harder than the first day too but I think it's probably because I was so excited to start the program. Day 3 went better but I still look like I'm dying!:rotfl:
My knees are sore today but then I havent ever run before so its probably just my body getting used to exercise (at least I hope so).

Keep up the good work- lots of people repeat days/weeks - we will all get there in the end:yay:

W7D3 done! I still don't love it while I am doing it--hopefully that will come with time, but I know that I CAN do it if I push past the mental stuff. I am running about 2.2 miles in 25 minutes (not the 2.5 that's listed), but that's farther than I have ever run before. That makes me happy!

sounds good to me-well done:woohoo:

I did my W2D1 today. I am still feeling unwell but, I didn't want to go any longer and risk having to start over. It was tough but, I got through it. I ran around a commercial park while my DS was in gymnastics class.

PiperPizzaz hope that you are feeling better soon! That is what I call perserverance running with a bladder infection! :thumbsup2

After a lot of good intentions, false starts and an amazing amount of excuses I finally did W1D1 today -- and I didn't croak or anything. ;) I think I can do it again on Thursday but I did have to take two Aleve when I got home.

:wizard::wizard::wizard:

I took today off... after three hard days of training, my hips needed it.

Okay, so I ran my 5k on Monday, and yesterday my hip was killing me. My hip has hurt for about the past 3 times I've ran and it's only my left hip. I know it's probably from the impact, but I'm not sure how I'm running that would only hurt my left hip. It's okay today, but I'll probably run again so it'll be hurting tomorrow. Any ideas on what I can do?

Where are you working out? At a gym where you might have the option of using an elliptical? I would be careful with hip pain, soreness is one thing, but I don't think you should be in pain!

Just completed the St. Patty's Day Virtual 5k!! Woo Hoo!:banana:

I have been off the plan for a few days, I have been running an event for about 5 days and didn't have ANY time to exercise. I was really afraid of getting off the program, so I was really glad to have a goal of completing the 5k by today. So I am back in the swing of things until I have another 2 events in about 3 weeks...it really throws off my momentum!! :sad2:

Completed the 5k in 43:10 (including my 5 min. warm up), slow, but better than not completing it at all...I would love to be down around 35 minutes. I am just incorporating the day into my C25K so I will do W3D3 tmr...

I did W3D2 today, and still feel pretty good. I'm finding the shorter runs pretty easy, and the 3 minutes is getting better. I can't imagine doing 25 minutes in a row in 3 weeks, but hearing how you all are able to do it, maybe I will.

I followed everyones advice here and slowed down my pace from the first time and was able to do W1D1! I have a very long way to go but I just want to thank everyone here for their support, I've never been able to do that in my life
Congratulations!! I was there 2 weeks ago, and is such a great feeling to finish day 1! Good luck!!

I started my C25K the 1st week of January and have only made it to w4d1 so far. Not too impressive. My DH just announced that if I can do a half-marathon next January (2011), he'll let me take the family to Disney for the Disney half-marathon. I'm hoping to use that as major motivation to get me moving! I was hurting a lot after my 1st work-out of week 4 so we'll see how things go. I'm excited to have a support group here!!!

Amanda
A disney trip is always great motivation. I'm only on week 3, and stuck with week one for a couple weeks, so hang in there. Week 4 is awesome and impressive, especially when you think back to week one.

So where do you all run? I run around a little part of my neighborhood but, I am getting bored just going in circles. There aren't any running groups or anything that I can find on my side of town. I evidently live on the sedentary side of town, who knew?

Also, does anyone carry any pepper spray or anything? I live in a very suburban area but, I still have some anxiety about it.
I run on a track at a neighborhood park, and there is usually some dog walkers around too. I have felt pretty safe there, and usually leave my keys in the car unlocked so I don't have to carry them. I like the idea of having your cell phone and just being aware of others nearby.

Whew. Week 6d3 done. Never thought I'd run for 25 minutes, and I'm not sure I ever want to again! But I will Wednesday! My legs are killing me! PLEASE tell me that gets better!

I was showing off my newly defined calf muscles to a girlfriend today, and she said "they should have their own zip code" :lmao:
:rotfl:
Wow 25 minutes is a long time. I'd like to hear that it gets better too!

I learned a valuable lesson today. Running the day after donating blood might be a little too soon when you aren't in great shape. I made it though D6W1, but it was terribly tough. I was so dizzy and weak after I finished that I could barely make it upstairs! I can't figure out any reason for it other than the fact that I gave blood yesterday. Would that affect me? I know they say not to exercise for the rest of the day on the day you give blood, which I did, but this was still within 24 hours.

Anyway, I made it. Even if it was rough!
I would think that donating blood can do that. You're down one pint of those precious red blood cells that carrry the oxygen to your body. I know I'm wicked short of breath on my 3 minute runs, and that would make a difference. Take it slow the next few days. Hope you're feeling better.

Whoo hoo, Lisa!! You can do it, girl!!

I'm completing W7 for the second time this week, but I took the leap and completed The Luck O' The IWISH Virtual 5K.

Up 'til today, the most I ran was 2 miles in 26 minutes. But today I finished the 3.1 miles in 41:06. After 2.75 miles, I had to walk for a little under two minutes, but I crossed the virtual finish line running!

I feel good even though I couldn't run the whole race because, before last month, the last time I ran was in high school over 20 years ago.
:yay:

I'm doing W1D3 tonight... feel great about it.

I used to have hip pain too. I started doing some strength training on the crosstraining days and I think the core strength and strengthening the quads has helped.

That's awesome! If you don't mind me asking, why did you decide to repeat w7?

I am so bad, I get into a groove and just forget how many laps I have done. It's sad. I did w7d1 today, and the 25 minute jog was a lot easier today. It may have been b/c I ran at a different track, but I just got into a groove. The mild hill still kicked my butt, but I didn't feel like I was dying the WHOLE time! I've found once I get about 10 minutes into it, I'm good for the next 10-12, the last few are hard. DH also watched me today... DD2 was asleep in the car so he came and sat with her while I ran before he walked.

It was interesting, he was impressed! I asked how I looked, he said "like someone jogging." That was kind of a bummer, but he did say he was very impressed that I kept an even pace the whole time....

Kathy you're awesome!!!

Lisa great job on starting!!! My first week (ha ha I sound like such a pro - I'm on my second week now!) my thighs HURT - like hurt to get up and down in the bathroom hurt! But now all is better and stronger.:goodvibes

I'm going to do w2d1 tomorrow...I don't like running in our neighborhood, and dd was sick today so I didn't want to go the park and leave her. Will do it tomorrow!

:lmao:I did w5d1 today. It went pretty well. Which is good because some form of insanity caused me to register for the 2011 Disney Half-Marathon. I'd better get thru this C25K program quickly! :rotfl2:

Hey gang :wave2:

W3D1 completed today. I was terrified to do the 3 minute run, but I did it :cheer2: OK, it was more of a wog than a jog or run, but it worked. I went to do it on Monday, pulled into the parking lot at the track, and school called wanting me to sub, so it got pushed back to today. The last time I was out was Friday, so I contemplated going back to w2d3, but I went ahead and did it and survived. :yay:
