So I was pretty excited when Jetblue announced that they would be flying nonstop from BWI to MCO starting November 12, 2015. I checked it out and saw they offered decent times that ran to February 10, 2016. So this week they released the flights/fares into early May and while the Jetblue website was a mess for many days, I just couldn't find any nonstop flights out of BWI. I wondered did they end this service before it even began? So I wrote to Jetblue with the hope of finding out what was going on. I got a response.

They said the non-stop flights would be seasonal and at this time after February 10th, there won't be any. While this didn't make me happy, I did think of those folks who may have booked their flight down in February with the hopes of booking their return flight once the new schedule opened. Boy are they in for a shock.

So for me, I guess it's back to United out of Dulles, or the 2 hour trek into Reagan/DCA to catch Jetblue. But since both United and Jetblue charge for luggage, I'll probably suck it up and fly United. My excitement of flying nonstop out of BWI to Mco on Jetblue has been stomped out. Just thought I would post this for my fellow Wash, DC area flyers, who like me, was excited to have this option out of BWI.

Thanks for doing the legwork. That is not the news I was hoping for. SW for me, I guess. DD has peanut allergies and the only airlines who aren't jerks about it are SW and jetblue. I got my SW card in the mail today so I'll be racking up miles in no time

Maybe they are waiting to see how they compete against SW. I checked SW's schedule today, they had 13 non-stops. Officially SW doesn't have hubs, but BWI is as close to it as possible.

That stinks. Even if it's "seasonal" why would the flights linger into the ultra-slow times of late January and early February?

I wondered why exclude spring break...that's busy season. I think it was just an excuse. What a let down.

So, I'm one of the lucky people who jumped on the new nonstop service from JetBlue - BWI to MCO!
We are going on the Dream on 2/12 and we always fly JetBlue from Reagan. BWI is much more convenient so when we saw the flights we jumped on the opportunity. We booked our 2/9 flight and then waited for the schedule to be released and now we are stuck. Considering multiple options right now - fly to DCA and a get a car service, suck it up and fly a one stop flight or choose Southwest. Glad our flight down was $68 since now we'll be paying around $250 for the flight back!!

I'm sorry to hear that. We would've done exactly like you as we often will book one way and wait for the other dates to open. Like the rest of us, you probably never expected them not to have nonstop flights for your return. I'm sure there is more of a story than we will ever know. Maybe they didn't reach their ticket quota from November to February. I've not even thought of purchasing now, so I'll wait, as I always do. Good luck on that return flight. You could do like us and take a rental car from one airport to another. We often fly out of Dulles and back into Reagan, pick up a rental car and drive ourselves back to Dulles, but I'm generally using National Rental free days to do that. I check everyday to see if the non-stop out of BWI get loaded.....

If you fly United very often, you should consider getting a UA branded Chase card. If you use it to buy your ticket, you will get a free checked bag for yourself and a companion and will be in boarding group 2.

That certainly is something to think about, thanks

I'm confused, n2mm. We used to fly direct on JetBlue from Dulles years ago until they stopped that so we started flying out of Reagan National. If you don't mind flying out of Dulles, why would you drive all the way to BWI and bypass National on the way there?

I live 20 minutes from Dulles so I absolutely hate that I now have to make the trek toward DC to National (usually takes an hour) for a JetBlue direct flight. Not to mention that I hate that airport anyway due to the lack of long term parking and places to eat while waiting). Am I missing something? Is it better to fly out of BWI? I was looking at flying United out of Dulles for our trip in December since JetBlue changed their policies.

It may be slower for disney but not for Florida with all the snowbirds. They often travel home for the holidays and then back, or wait until after the holidays to travel down.

Dulles is 1 hour from our house, bwi 1 1/2 hours from our house and Reagan over 2 hours from our house on a weekend day, longer on the week days and that's taking metro with a 1+ hour drive to shady grove metro, 1+ on the subway red line to blue line to Reagan
