All I need now is: Bumper bar. (Still being made!!!):rolleyes1

Whoa! What is this for? Slow runners? Just bump them out of the way or do cranks play bumper cars? You are so out front that I never see you.

Tougher sport than I thought!

enjoy,
Duane

Some push rims and cranks, like to take out the competion by comming up between you back wheels and knocking you wheels and tipping you over!!!!!!!!

The bumper bar sits between your rear wheels to try to stop this, but they will still ram you though.

Hotel in NY booked :woohoo:

Yay Syko, looks like you've been very productive. I'm glad to hear things are getting back on track for your training and racing. Oh, and that sounds rather scary about getting bumped by other racers. :scared1: That seems like it should be illegal. Is there any kind of penalty for doing that?

Allie, nice job finishing the 5k and also getting your 5 miles in despite the rainy conditions. So far I've never had to run in the rain (one of the perks of living in Phoenix), and I'm hoping my luck holds because running in wet, squishy shoes does not sound like fun.

Casey, I hope you had a great race. Did you end up going to the parks over the weekend? I tried the Monte Cristo at the Blue Bayou on Sunday after the race and it's suprising how the jelly actually enhances the flavor of the sandwich.

It felt very humid during the 5k on Saturday, so I was pleasantly surprised by the weather during the 1/2 on Sunday. I think I made it to about mile 11 before the sun came out. Out of the 6 1/2 marathons I've done so far (this year!) I think the Disneyland 1/2 was my favorite. The only thing I would wish for is more characters on the course, especially at the end.

You are ALLOWED to bump or tip a chair.:scared1:
My friend has bumped me before to try to get me use to it, I almos fell out and he was not going full speed!!!!

:cheer2:Congrulations to everyone who did the DL 5K & 1/2.:cheer2:
If anyone has photos I would love to see them, I wish I could have been there with you, perhaps next year.

Duane, you crack me up. Who's looking like the slug now? I haven't even made time to add up my miles yet. Laaay-zeee me! :rotfl: I hope your 9 miler went well.

Lisa, the race was fun. I didn't see you. One of these times, we'll meet! I agree that there needed to be more characters on the DL 1/2 course this year. There were so many more in 2008. I'm glad to hear your review of the Monte Cristo. We ended up buying twilight tickets and headed into Disneyland Saturday evening. I was close to getting a Monte Cristo but opted for Carnation Cafe instead. I just love their potato soup and sandwiches. Are you going to run the DL 1/2 in 2010?

Allie - great job on your 5K! I'm not sure I'd know what to do with myself if it rained at a race. It never rains here!

I'll have my miles posted later. Sorry I am slacking on adding them up. Still getting back into my routine from the DL 1/2 weekend! I am also heading out of town today back to California. I'm running the Run the Bear 1/2 marathon in Big Bear Lake tomorrow morning. It's where Ryan Hall trains but I doubt he'll be there.

I'm back from the Disneyland 1/2. Well, I was back since Sunday but am just getting around to posting about it. DH and I got in Saturday, picked up our packets then went to the Disneyland park in the evening. Sunday morning rolls around and we got out the door a little later than expected. So, by the time we got to the race it was too late to meet up with the WISHers. I almost missed my start in corral A. In fact, I barely had enough time to get there. I got to my corral at 6:00 on the dot. Race started at 6:00 am. Whoops.

The course was similar to last year with the exception of a few changes through the Disney parks and the course going through Angels Stadium. I remember at one point when running in the back parts of Disney, I saw where they keep some horses. That was something I'd never seen before. There weren't as many characters out for the race as last year. My favorite part of the whole race was running through Angels Stadium, it was so cool. My least favorite part was the first water stop. They made it very narrow and everyone had to come to a complete stop to get through. They just should have made it wider. That was when I lost the 2:00 pacer and never caught him again. I was aiming for under 2:00 but ended up finishing in 2:04:10. Still a great time for me and the main this is that I had fun. I enjoyed talking to some members of the WISH team afterwards. Here's a few photos:

Great photos, Casey! The winners' awards are really neat with the Mickey on top. The first photo from the Expo... was that taken by the photographer who was there, or on your own camera? I thought my photo would show up with the rest of the ASI photos, but I haven't seen it yet.

Yes, one of these days we'll finally meet... maybe December in Las Vegas?

I got to my corral at 6:00 on the dot. Race started at 6:00 am. Whoops.

Are you kidding? That is perfect! Walk up and run! But I would be too nervous. I get everywhere early, even going to the the dentist :rotfl:

Great report, thanks for posting. Disney races are not about a PR, there is too much going on. Glad you had fun.

How did DH do? He is pretty fast if I remember. DId he go for it or did he stay with you?

enjoy,
Duane

I can finally post some miles:cool1:

I am fixed enough to train, but not race as a part could fail at any time. So a new part is on order.

We did 28 miles yesterday, the temp was 100, in 2:52.
I am so out of shape, I almost didn't make it.

Just going to go around town tonight, and then back out on the trail the weekend.

My DH has nominated me for the spirit award at columbus marathon.
I know I wont win one (they give out 10) but I thought it was really sweet of him to put me forward.

Hi all,

I'm a bit late getting back in touch, as I returned last week from WDW after a 10 day DDP fueled eating fest!

I got a total of 211 miles in August.

Though we are halfway through September, and though I still put in a few great runs all over the Mouses' property, my mileage so far is below my normal par, currently sitting on 73.

Hope everyone is staying injury free and having fun!!!

Is there a new thread for Sept. that I have not found?

Here are my August totals. Sorry they are late. They include extra miles for a race and include hours for weight training. No swimming or biking lately. I need to get back to those but running is always my first love

183.10 miles
29.5 hours

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lisa - Yes, I'll be a the LV RNR marathon. I hope to see you there at the race or expo! Duane, you too!

Duane - DH stayed with me through the Disneyland 1/2. He insisted on stayin but I told him to go. He still stayed. This is the one race where we just run for fun and stay together. (other than the ET one, we stayed together for that because it was dark) All other races we do together, will be fair game. We are splitting up for the Hoover Dam 1/2 and LV marathon. He will finish way before me.

Kirsty Leigh - Sounds like you got in good amount of miles yesterday despite the heat. Good job! I hope you win that spirit award at the marathon.

James - Good to see you. Nice mileage for August! I hope your 10 days away to WDW was a great time.

See, I told you I wanted to post before Casey :) I'd love to make it next year for the Coast to Coast - we'll see.

Had a tough 2 days. Last night was the first hill run. I use a bridge in town because everything is so flat. It is about 2 miles over and back. Going over is real steep, coming back is a longer rise but not as steep. Problem is I went at 5:30 pm. Brutally hot and humid with no shade.

Went out late today. Didn't get out until 7:45 am. My legs were jelly. Not used to running hills I guess At 2 miles I was ready to quit. REALLY ready at 5 miles as I ran past my car. Stopped and had some G2 and really thought about bagging the run. Couldn't do it. Yea I was hot, but it was not a dangerous hot. I have stopped running because it felt medically dangerous. Those in the hotter climates know what i am talking about.

Anyway I made it. Walked a bit and I never do that but I was going to finish. Even used the kids area at the park where they have all those water toys. Just stuck my head under there for a few minutes. What a difference that made.

Anyway, glad I finished. Not a run to be proud of time wise but I am glad I finished.

enjoy,
Duane

Duane I know have you are saying about the heat, but if you can do it now just think how easy it will be in the winter. So it was a good run!!!!!!

Casey I will find out the begining of Oct. if I win one or not.

I went out today and was doing well until my DD's trailer got a flat, to get home i had to put that side of the trailer up on my foot and push, that was a long 9 miles back!

Hey Everyone,

I think I'm updated to here on numbers and I put our total numbers on the front page for August. If everyone could just post their numbers here for September that would be great. I'll be at the World for a bit in October so I won't be around much. Hope to meet some of you at RFTT or TOT.

Take Care
Chris

Duane - You are funny. :) Good job getting your bridge run in. I don't know how you guys in FL and other humid climates run in the humidity. It is so dry here that even when over 100, it seems less brutal than cooler temps + humidity. Hopefully some cooler weather is around the corner for you guys. What are your winters like?

Kirsty Leigh - You sure are a trooper making it back 9 miles with the flat!

Chris - Saw your recent race photos on Facebook. Congrats to you and your wife! It's always fun getting out and completing a race with your spouse! I'll post my Sept #'s on here.

Next up for me is the Denver Marathon on Oct 18. I am excited and nervous as it will be my first 26.2. I'm flying out just for the race and will be in CO about 24 hours, then fly back home. Found a great deal on airfare on hotel. I hope you all are doing well with your training and enjoying some Fall weather. It's still in the 100's here!

Casey Oct 18th is my fast marathon too!!!!
It's does not bother me, but i thuoght I'd let you know Kirstie Ligh is a Rebble, i'm Kirstie~Louise or Kirstie or plain old Syko.

I'm not having my fun at the moment, I have not been able to train for the last couple of days as I have not felt right, so I am having to test my blood sugar 8 times a day to see if anything is going on......I feel like a pin cushion. I don't know how people with Diabites do this all the time.:worship: I'm too much of a wimp.

My miles for Sept are: 187.
Time: 16:03.

I was a bit upset that I didn't get mor in, but I nailed down 141 miles this month. I had one week where I was at the ranges the whole time, killing any training value!

Glad to help contribute what I do have.

Are we gong to start an October thread?

See you Buzzies at the RFTT in 10 days!
