Buzz's Brigade Come Flying into Aug-Dec Totals

Yes, Duane, I am doing the half. DH and I did it last year and only the first couple of miles were down the strip, the rest of it was off in the industrial area. This year's course looks a whole lot better, plus it's an inaugural, plus it will get me the Grand Slam bonus medal for doing 4 RnR events in one calendar year. A real win-win situation all around and a good way to guarantee that I get in some quality steps leading up to Goofy.

Las Vegas Rock N Roll racers - Today is the last day before the race fees go up another $15. Today is also the last day to use code VEGASROCKS at checkout for $10 off registration.

Duane, I can definitely understand not wanting to run the full on a long vacation! I know I would stress out in the same situation. I'm just glad that you will get to run the strip as you wanted to. I'm so glad they changed the course this year. Last year, only 6 miles were on the strip. You are right about my husband and his running. He is a much faster runner than I. For ET, he stayed with me the whole time, eventhough I told him to go ahead. He held back for me. We will do the same for the Disneyland half. All other races we do, we run on our own and aim for new personal bests.

Pat - Congrats on all your Rock N Roll events completed this year. That is a big accomplisment! You'll have to show us your cool grand slam bonus medal!

Caseydilla: I do have a blog, but I haven't wrote much on it lately. I seem to have gotten away from blogs, and post most of my workouts on Dailymile.com; which then feeds it into my FB.

I'll admit to the sin of copy and paste most of my posts, but the info does get around!

As for my run ... it's on FB!

LOL. 18.3 miles in 2:28:50.

My Dailymile or My Face Book

Happy Running!

Lisa - I hope you can still do a Calico race sometime eventhough it's a bit far for you. They do some really neat events. The next 1/2 they are doing is on Halloween at Hoover Dam. You run through the 6 tunnels(formerly railroad tunnels). It's a cool run! How far from Vegas are you? If I remember correctly, are you in AZ?

Yep, I'm in Phoenix. DL and Vegas are within driving distance but just far enough away that it's not an "easy" drive. I'm lucky that my boyfriend is willing to act as chauffeur and accompany me to my races. :goodvibes

Yesterday I tried using a run/walk plan for my long run and it seemed to work well. My time was comparable to what I can do when just running and I wasn't as tired at the end. I did 5 min run, 1 min walk. I think I'm going to stick with this plan for awhile.

What's going on Buzzies?

Casey - You can get the Monte Cristo at the Blue Bayou or Cafe Orleans in Disneyland. Pretty much the same sandwich, but it costs less at Cafe Orleans and it's only available at lunch at the Blue Bayou. The setting at the Blue Bayou is awesome and you get additional sides there. It is ham, turkey, cheese, bread and it's deep fried. So good!

Need to find Pat on Facebook now. :thumbsup2

Duane - good to know I inspired you. :rotfl2: I mean I do owe you and Charles for all your help last year during Goofy training.

Nothing much to report on my end. I signed up for the Columbus Half although I may have already said that. I have a 10k, 13k and a half all in October after no races all summer. :woohoo:

Ready to get some new bling.....

Hi all - it's good to be back home again (until I leave for Disneyland in 2+ weeks.....)

Since the beginning of the month, I ran 2 half marathons and have been travelling. I ran RNR Chicago Aug 2 and left for London that night. Even though I went for work, I had some time the day I arrived and evenings after work to walk/run and go sightseeing. Such a great city!

I returned home for a few days and then was off to NYC to visit some old friends and run the NYC 1/2 marathon. Another city I just love!

Weather for Chicago 1/2 was perfect. I ran about 10 minutes slower than usual because I did not want to be stuck on an airplane with sore legs. Weather for NYC 1/2 was hot! 77 degrees and 80% humidity at the start. Plus a 7am start in August is tough. Running through Times Square was a blast! Plus my friends came out to cheer for me - that was cool since I've never had a cheering section before. I brought my camera and took lots of pictures. Another slow 1/2 but I don't care!

Now I need to seriously decide if I want to run the NYC marathon this year or defer until 2010.
Pros - run in NYC, visit w/ friends, travel costs could be minimal (if I stay with friends), personal cheering section, course is open for long time (8 hrs?) so I can walk a lot if needed.
Cons - travel costs could be excessive (if I stay in Manhattan), have to take vacation time (can't run Sunday and get on a plane Monday AM), going to WDW 2 weeks before the race so training would be lacking towards the end.
My biggest concern is the mileage. I haven't run more than 13.1 miles since the Chicago marathon last October. Could I get from 13.1 to 26.2 in 11 weeks? Has anyone trained for a marathon in such a short timeframe? Is it worth it or should I wait until next year and follow a proper training plan?

Syko - congrats on getting into NYC! I may or may not be joining you this year.....

Casey - you really have some neat races in LV! I just try to find races in different states/cities to visit. I am looking forward to running on the Vegas strip!

Pat - I didn't know there was a FB page but I found it last night so thanks for the info!

Duane - Happy belated birthday. Sounds like you had a fun trip!

Hello to everyone else!

Lisa You know you what to join the fun in NYC!!!!

Have you found out you bib number yet? mine is 431.

I have asked if they want me to return the shorts and T, if not then my DH will wear them!!!!!

James - I too, am bad about updating my blog. I need to write a new entry about my last 1/2 but for some reason am dragging. My family in CA likes to read it to keep up on me. I am on daily mile too! I also like runlogger on Facebook.

Lisa - (HGH) It's nice to have a driver for events. My husband acts as mine too. :lmao: We have never been to Phoenix eventhough it's not that far but like you said, it's just a bit farther than we'd like for a drive. One of these days, I want to do a race in AZ. Are you running the RNR Arizona in Jan?

Chris - I love Blue Bayou! DH and I ate there in June for the first time but I completely missed the Monte Cristo on the menu. Congrats on getting all signed up for the Columbus half. It looks like you've got a good racing schedule lining up for fall.

Lisa(MM) - Wow, what a seriously busy month you've had. Congrats on your Chicago and NYC 1/2's. I can only imagine how amazing it must have been to run through Times Square. It sounds like you had a nice trip to London. Good luck on your decision on whether to run NYC in 2010 or wait.

Kirstie-Lousie - Look at all those fun new toys! Lucky you.

I think that I must be the only person who is not on Facebook or Twitter!!!!!!

I am going to send the shorts and T back of bigger ones.....I just hope they fit. I don't think they have any runners my size.

I had so fantastic news yesterday....I have been invited to stay with the "team":worship: for the MCM.

I hoping if I can do a good enough time I will be given a place, even as an alternative, its all part of the ride to 2012 / 2016 (in my dreams):lmao:

I am about 8 shirts short of putting in an AlertShirt order. So, if anyone wants one, please let me knoo ASAP.

Ordering site is here.

Thanks!
Carrie

I'm only on Facebook and am protesting Twitter. I don't know why but I refuse to sign up for Twitter. :rolleyes1

Congrats on the news you received about staying on with your team. I've been wondering, did you ever locate the missing parts/screws you were still needing?

Syko, that's some nice Spira gear. Is it the Spira team that you'll be staying with for MCM?

Casey, I did the RnR AZ 1/2 last year. But I'm planning to do the Disney marathon in January so I'll skip RnR AZ this year. Although... I think two marathons in two weeks would qualify me for Marathon Manics. But I'm not quite that crazy yet.

I'll be staying with the disabled team, Achilles, nothing to do with Spira.
I have 3 marathons in 3 weekends.....so what does that make me????

 two more parts turned up....a truing tool and my hand strap webbing.
Now I just need my DH to make the straps, wheels to true and those stupid screws!!!!!!!!!

OMG I need to SCREAM...:scared1:...I have been talking to the wheel company and had set up what I needed to give the fastest set up, so I told this info to the company making my hubs......guess what, now the wheel company say they can't do it and I need a different size hub!!!!:scared1:

The problem is that my hub has been custom made this week!!!!!
I am trying ot get hold of the hub contact to see if there is anything they can do as I can't afford to buy two hubs thats around $1,000:scared1:

My Dh :love1: has spent the entire morning on the phone to try to sort out this mess.
After several calls to each company I think he finally did it. (I hope)

My new hub will be made on monday and then shiped to Hed so that they can make my wheels. I should have them by the end of september.

:yay::cheer2::cool1::yay::cheer2::cool1:

Glad your DH was able to straighten everyone out, and you didn't end up with a hub that was going to be useless.

How are you feeling?

Allie I'm fine thanks, just stressing out that I will not have enough time to train.
If my wheels dont get here until the end of Sept, I only have a couple of weeks before my racing season starts!!!

My races leading up to the Goofy are:

Oct 11th RFTT
Oct 18th Columbus marathon
Oct 25th MCM
Nov 1st NYC marathon
Nov 15th Celebration 10K
Nov 29th Space Coast marathon
Dec 6th West Palm Beach marathon.
