Buzz's Brigade 2009 - Moving to Infinity and Beyond!!!

Alright I got me 4 miles in outside at a good pace for me. Really glad to have a good run. I was doubting everything. Happens every so often.

Keep it up team!!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Where are the old timers? :rolleyes1
Hey Y'all (as we say here in the South),
Welcome to all the New Buzzzzzzz..... I'm still trying to get motivated. I keep stopping by and reading all the new team post. All these races you guys are doing are amazing. You don't know how much that has kept me going. So that being said and going back to what Duane said last week about I need to sign up for something. I'm going to let this be the first place I say this. And once I say it, no take backs.

I'm signing up for the Disney full. Whew. There. I said it. And if I say it to my teammates I mean it. Never in my life did I think I would ever attempt anything like this but here we go. So off to train.......:wishgoal

:scared1: :scared1: :cool1: :yay:  :woohoo: :cheer2:

Alright!!! Congrats. Now we will do our best to hold you to that. :thumbsup2 I'm so excited for you!

Hey just a heads up the WDW half is now 50% Full and Goofy is now at 85%. So if any of you are still on the fence....Cough, Cough Duane (I need my Pop Buddy) you better get moving!

Lets go Buzzies.

Hey Buzzies! I've been getting my steps in on the TM, nothing fantastic, just plugging away. I have been bumping up the incline though in anticipation of the hills in Nashville. I'm going really slow, but get the incline up to 7% for at least a couple of minutes at a time.

Well, Mike, to use another southern expression, Bless Your Heart! I'm a S.C. native myself but live over the border these days.

It's awesome that you signed up for the full. That Mickey medal is a mighty powerful lure, isn't it?

My calf is still sore but definitely better. I think you're right, Jessica, that my body did not like those banked turns. My plan is to walk 3.5 miles after it warms up a little more today. I'm sure 36 degrees gets no sympathy from you all up north!

Hello team-

Nothing exciting for me to report. 6 mile LR at the indoor track on Sat and 1 hour weight training (lots of arms and abs) yesterday. Tonight will be 4 miles on the TM after work.

The track I go to is 11 laps per mile. I don't notice any problems with the banked turns but I do notice that I run much slower at the track than I do outside.

Congrats to all on your events - whether it's running, training, or signing up for one!

Have a great Tuesday...

I just set a new PR 13.2miles in 1:22:58, and I was going the hard way around the course.
Yesterday, I was a lot slower so I did 16miles the easy way, I think that extra distance helped a lot today.
Hoping to get the indoor trainer working tonight for a few extra miles. (not going to happen as they have sent me two left adaptors instead of a left and right!!!!!!)

Debbie and Jessica, I'm a sensitive guy :) so those banked turns would kill my knees. Don't know how you guys do it.

And Pat 7% incline??? Isn't that like straight up!

Mike, you won't regret it. My first marathon was my first race over 8 miles. It was an experience to remember forever.

Syko, a new PR - that is awesome. Don't you hate it when they don't send you the right parts. Ugh!

Chris, way to go on the runs. I know how you feel, until I got 18 miles in this weekend I was doubting the half next week. Still have my doubts because of my knee. Sure hurt at the end of my 10 miler on Sunday.

I sent my Goofy registration in today. I'll let fate decide: If it gets there in time, I was meant to run Goofy again. If it doesn't then it is just the 5K and the marathon. And now I have to also run the 5K so it will probably be another Dopey this year.

I am training everyday, just haven't posted that regularly. I have a 5K this weekend, then a half marathon the next weekend, then 2 weeks later another 5K. But, there really isn't much after that but some local small 5Ks so I might take a break for awhile and rest my knees. I don't run a lot of 5K races because I really don't like getting up at 5:00 a.m for just a 3 mile run.

My goal this year is to get in the best shape of my life. OK, my over 40 life. Last year for the Goofy I was in great running shape. This year I am going to spend the middle of the year on cross training and then focus on running again starting in September. Maybe throw a Tri in there, who knows.

Let's go get em!
Duane

Glad to hear so many are doing well with training!

Mike - way to go on aiming for the FULL. You are strong and I am confident you will meet your goal.

Allie - congrats on your 2 mile race. You did great!

Debbie - glad to hear your calf is better. :)

Duane - Congrats on signing up for the Goofy. I like your goal to get in the best shape ever. I can see that you're considering the tri thing. I think you would be very pleased with the results from cross training with swimming and biking on top of the running. Good luck! Oh and the Red Rock Marathon is coming up March 7th....it's never too late to fly out. :rolleyes1

I am still cross training several days a week for the Iron Girl tri in May. It is sure hard to find the time to get in run/bike/swim time. I signed up for a 6 week class with a tri swim coach to work on my swimming - my weakest area. I've gone to two classes so far and have felt a huge improvement with my swimming already.

I got in my longest run yet this past Sunday. I did a 15 1/4 mile run. I'm trying to build my distance up to do a full.

Hey Casey,

I hear that is the area most people need the most help on - swimming. Luckily for me, when I decide to start swimming I have a friend here at the office that goes swimming most days at lunch. He also swims in open water events. So, I kind of have a built in coach. We'll see. Good luck on the Tri - not sure when it is.

My Niece is getting married on November 29 in Vegas so we'll be back out there again this year. Trying to see if I can stay out there long enough for the LV half. It is on Dec 6 this year I think. Can't find much on line except that it won't be sponsored by Zappo's anymore. Red Rock would still be nice though. Actually she is going to get married at Red Rock. Go figure.

Can you verify that it will be run on Dec 6?

Boy was LV cold when we were there a few weeks ago. I wore gloves and earmuffs at night!

enjoy,
Duane

Duane - how lucky you are to have a swimming buddy that knows the ropes! That will definitely be an asset for your training. My coach says the swim is usually the hardest/weakest area for most tri athletes. Biking is all new to me but I am not as scared of it. I just got my road bike about a month ago.

The Las Vegas Marathon changed their web address since it's a rock n roll event from now on. (no longer Devine Racing, there was a lot of issues with Devine) Here is the new site link below, I just came across it a few weeks ago. It is scheduled for sure to be Dec 6th. Would be great if that worked out timing wise with the wedding you'll be out for. Red Rock would make a pretty wedding settting. It has been pretty chilly for us lately. We had some 70 degree days but then it started to get cold again. We just went snowboarding last week at the Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard resort, they got a nice amount of snowfall. It's just North of Red Rock.

Good Morning Everyone. Haven't got any sleep the last couple nights because the 20 month old is sick and not sleeping. Got in another 4 miler last night because it was decent out, but I should have rested. I'm not so smart sometimes. :lmao:

Congrats everyone on your runs.

Duane you will get in.......

Everyone's doing great with there training, every steap counts, I'm looking forward to see what team has the most miles......I'm not too compeitive am I :rolleyes1
I took the day off training yesterday as it was raining and my breaks don't work when wet!!!!!:rotfl: And my indoor trainer is still waiting on parts, I have just been told that they have shipped out the same part that I am sending back, not the correct one.
I did get my new glasses form Oakley though :cheer2: I need RX and my lenses where out of their pramiters, but thanks to a few phone calls to the right person a special order was done for me.....thanks Oakley :thumbsup2. So if anyone wants RX oakley and can't get them done let me know and I'll tell you who you need to speak too.

Kirsite~Louise, don't you just loooooooove good customer service. Sounds liked you did OK with Oakley though. Hang in there and when you get the trainer up and running it will be worth it.

HA -- I am so curious, too, and I keep peeking at the other teams' threads:magnify:

You all with races coming up are doing a lot more to boost our team totals, while I just try to maintain some fitness.

Good w/r today of 3 miles. Once I can get myself out the door, I don't mind the cool temps. But in the rain, NO. I'll do it during race training b/c it makes me feel mentally tougher. Right now, I'm content to be wimpy!

Have a good weekend everyone --
