Buzz's Brigade 2009 - Moving to Infinity and Beyond!!!

I am planning on doing Kiawah in December! Wendy posted a great report about the race, and the medal is really cool!

Thanks, Pat! I'll look up Wendy's report. I know a couple of people who have done the 1/2 there. My dental hygienist (boy, that looks like it's spelled wrong!) did the full this past year and thought it was a bit boring. I can see that -- having to do the "out and back" twice. It would definitely be flat, though!

Have a great day, team!

Pat,
That is so cool that you have raced in so many states- you must know someone on an airline???????

Linda

:rotfl: No I don't! But I do vigilantly watch SWA fares and re-book to get credits when the fares drop. Our roundtrip to Nashville cost us $35 due to prior SWA credits. I am really lucky though to have done some really cool races in really cool places.

Today I went for a walk that ended up being 3.6 miles and 1:00:59 long.Went with a friend so alot of chatting going on!

It just feels good to keep moving! It is cooler than the past few days but not in the single digits like it had been.

Have a great day everyone,
Linda

I did my first 13.3miles today 1:30h, and I saw the local cycle race group taking a break so I craned as hard as I could when I went passed them (they usualy leave me behind) and I topped out at 20.06mph. I keeped going just long enough to get past them and then let the chair freewheel while I recovered.
I konw that they will all beat me in the race on sunday, but at least I showed them that I can go fast......if only for a few secounds!!!!!

20.06 mph that is really cranking. My arms got tired just thinking about it!

Linda, I don't usually go out with anyone, but I agree it sure makes the time go by fast.

Some of you have quite the schedule coming up. I am impressed!

I'm behind in my training and am trying to catch up. I should have started a week earlier. I have a half marathon on March 1 but I didn't start running again until last week. I did 8 last night and plan on doing 10 this Sunday. Up until I got the 8 in I wasn't sure the knee would hold up for the half. But it was pretty good last night so I know I can run it. It's just going to be how fast :)

Next week I have a fairly large 5K so I didn't really want to run 10 or 11 miles next weekend. We'll see.

Down here we need to get all our races in during the winter and spring. Once April ends, our season is pretty much over.

My Niece just announced she is getting married on Nov 29 in Las Vegas. If I can swing it I'd love to stay for the next week because the Las Vegas Marathon is on Dec 6. This is on my wish list. I'm scheming right now.

Have a great weekend everyone!
Duane

Wow. Everyone has been so busy here! I still got nuthin'. We had so much snow before Christmas, that there are still no sidewalks to be found. There is no way I'm running on the road, as I don't trust crazy drivers. lol. :D

Today I did 45 mins on the elliptical- 2.99 miles.

Abs=125 Free weights=3 sets of 12 reps- lats, chest and shoulders

Hope tomorrow is nicer so I can run outside- please no wind. That makes it so hard.

Have a good weekend team,
Linda

Hey where is everyone?????????

This morning I ran 6 miles in 1:01:04,a 10:10 pace.

This afternnon walked 3.6 miles with a friend. It took 1 hour.

Unfortunately I did not get my wish about the wind- it is here and needs to go away!

Linda

Just got back from my race against the cyclist, came last as expected, but I was only 1:26 behind the slowest one.
My time was 18:29 for 4.20 miles.

Good job Syko and Linda!

I just got back home from my 10k. My time was 1:01:16. Good enough to earn me a medal! (In case you missed my earlier post, the first 300 finishers received medals.) It was cold but sunny. The course was an out and back. For about two miles out we were running into the wind, but then we got to run with the wind for the same stretch on the way back.

I also did another 2.5 miles afterward, running laps around the parking lot and a road they had closed for the race.

So next weekend I have 10 miles planned for my long run. Then it's time to taper for the Princess 1/2.

Well done Hungrygrnnhippo, thats a great time, and getting a medal too :thumbsup2
I'll see you at the ESPN 5K and Princess.

Hey Welcome to our New Team Members!!!!

I got 6 miles in on Friday and it left me feeling really tired all weekend. Maybe I had something and my body was fighting it off. I have no idea. Feeling a little better today so I may get some more miles in this evening. With nothing to be training for it's a mental game for me.

Anywho how are all the Buzzies doing? I see the Newbies to the group are posting away and that's Awesome!!! Keep it up. :thumbsup2

Where are the old timers? :rolleyes1

Hey fellow Buzzies, lookin' good everyone.
I'm scaling back my miles to focus on getting faster. I've signed up for the Muddy Buddy with my 14yo niece in May. In the Muddy Buddy you are grouped by team age, so my 40ish years + the niece's 14 years means we will be competing against team 20 somethings. So I'm doing weight training as well, don't want to embarrass the kid. I just started P90x a few days ago, what a butt kicker!

Keep up the good work everyone!

Congrats to everyone who has been racing!

I've been sick for over a week now and still can't seem to shake it. No gym for me, but I've been trying to walk instead of drive whenever possible to at least get moving some. I'm hoping to make it to the gym Wednesday if I'm not feeling dizzy anymore:headache:

I did a local 2 mile race yesterday. Did it in 23:26! Last year was 23:25, so I didn't PR, but I was further up in the standings this year. I was 16th out of 25 in my age group, so that was an accomplishment for me.

Got to meet some local WISHERS, so that is always cool! :cool2: Plus I get to double the miles for the month! :yay:

I also think that time was good considering I biked 6.25 miles followed by 2 miles brisk walking on Thursday night, and then ran 5 on Saturday, and then the race on Sunday. I am hoping it is getting me ready for the Country Music Half that I am doing in 10 weeks! :scared1:

Man, you new folks are FAST!!!! :thumbsup2 Congrats to all of you!

Congratulations! You're doing great and you'll be soooo prepared for the fun that I anticipate CMM will be! You rock!:yay:

Jessica,
Sorry to hear you are sick! Feel better soon!

Allie,
Great job on your race! Wish I was doing the CMM with you!

Linda

Awesome job this weekend, Buzzies!

Hope those under the weather  (Chris, Jessica) are feeling better soon.

I am resting a very sore calf from a run on Saturday -- not a long one, but I rarely just run -- usually walk or walk/run. Well, it was cold and rainy, and the Y was so packed. Could not even get into a zumba class or on a treadmill, elliptical, etc. I ended up running laps around the indoor track (12 laps = 1 mile. UGH!!). I ran 2 miles or so before going to do weight machines for upper body. I have no idea why this short distance has made me so sore, but I am using it an an excuse to get new shoes ;)

Congrats on your race Allie! It sounds like you are well on your way to being ready for the half:thumbsup2

Thanks to Linda and Debbie for the well wishes:goodvibes

Debbie - The indoor track is my fallback plan too when the gym is crowded. I find that the banked turns (and you hit them pretty often since the track is only 1/12 of a mile) make my legs feel worse than when I run outside. Maybe that's causing some of your soreness. Hope you feel better soon!

My indoor trainer arrived today :cool1:
Now all I need is for DH to work out how to attaches to my chair and I can get some miles done, without stop signs.
