Buying Resale Strategy Help

I am wondering if we are considering purchasing DVC, if it makes sense to buy a pool of points at a cheaper resort and a small contract for the 11 month window booking? Do any of you DVC vets have any strategies for doing something like this? We want to maximize our investment, but also worry about the 11 month window as well. Thanks for the help!

You can only use the small contract for the 11 month window.

Let's say you wanted BLT, so you buy 60 pts BLT and 200 SSR. You can use those 60 BLT points 11 months out, but you can't use your 200 SSR points until the 7 month mark for your BLT stay.

There are so many factors that giving accurate suggestions is difficult without a lot more info in your priorities, travel times etc

When I first bought (resale) my friend told me to make sure I bought where I'd be ok with staying at the 11 month mark and potentially at the 7 month mark if I couldn't get something else. If you are ok with staying at those resorts then go for it.

I have a friend who purchased Vero on the cheap about 12 years ago...He has never stayed at Vero...He always finds something at the 7 month window....Not always 1st choice mind you but somewhere he is happy with...

Depends on what you are trying to book and when you are traveling. A lot of people use SSR points for this strategy, but we have no idea if this is a good idea for you, because we don't know how you travel. There are many bookings that will be impossible at the 7 month mark.
