they do give deals to existing members depending on how many points you add on. You'll get the same deal whether you add on online or while at a resort or cruise. The biggest savings seem to be when a new resort is launched.GOT it Thank you !! So I guess that means the new POLY probablyugh!!!
anyone know if they give deals for adding on to existing members? Do they still do things like that on the cruises??
So you have two different use years Right? Do you have two different memberships? I'm a bit confused as the kind people who responded earlier seemed to say I couldn't buy resale and use (or possibly merge) those points into my membership. I don't want to have two memberships or deeds. I'm tempted to buy a resale at another resort say Poly with an April Use year but Won't that mean I will have to have two different memberships? I'm so confused!! LOL
Yes, I have two different membership numbers. One is a blue card and the other is not.So you have two different use years Right? Do you have two different memberships? Thank you for that analysis. We have a call into our guide so I will see what he says! Thank you everyone!!Now if you only thought about adding on last month... Disney direct would have given you 2021 points since it would be in the April 2021 UY last month. And they would have banked them for you... But now that you are in April, you are in the April 2022 UY and Disney direct can not give you last use year points. For a small contract of 50 points - on the resale market you will probably pay around $180/point since it is such a small number and smaller contracts are desired. If you bought direct from Disney the cost is $245/pt. Not sure what Disney has in closing fees etc, but to buy direct from Disney it will be about $3,000 more. There is savings in resale, but if you are interested in the new resorts and want they those points to have full benefits, for 50 points I would say just buy direct. Plus you would have the points within days and can get to planning your trip. Now if you said you want around 100+, then resale has a lot of savings... but for a smaller contract I sometimes think direct is the easier way even with the added cost... Also can't hurt to call Disney and see if they have any incentives right now for Bay Lake. The website says contact for "for special offer".....
Thank you Sandisw! I appreciate the thorough explanation. If you buy a different UY, then you can not make one single reservation using points from both unless you transfer.
If you keep the same UY, then you can. If it is BLT which matches what you own, then you can use all at 11 months and combine at 7 months elsewhere.
If you buy BLT in a different UY, you can still use those at the 11 month mark, but can’t combine with your other BLT without doing the transfer. But you can make a few nights at both and ask MS to note on each so you don’t have to change rooms.
Basically, contracts in the same membership can be easily used together while a different UY gives you a new membership which changes things up
The only piece is that resale points can not be used for RIV or future resorts no matter what else you own or what UY they are. Abs that could leave you out of the new Poly tower. Big unknown right now. iMO, if that tower is something you might want access to, I would hold off on any resale purchase until we know…problem is we may not know for few years.
If your goal is to use the new BLT points with your current BLT points for one reservation then they need to be the same UY
As long as you already have a blue card you won't lose it by buying resale, but you will if/when you ever sell that contract.WE heard from our DVC guide who was on vacation so I didn't get full details about closing costs. He says that they have BLT/apr at 245 a point. Now trying to decide if it makes more sense to buy 100 points at another resort on the resale market for less $ per points. Getting double the points for a little more than direct from Disney seems at least something to consider. Anyone know if closing costs are high with Disney. I assume I will have to pay 2022 dues and this would be a no finance purchase.
Im seeing stuff bout VGF2 had been a good price. Wish I had seen that earlier!
And lastly. As long as I own my direct BLT I will continue to get a blue card, correct? Buying resale doesn't negate that in some way does it?
Correct, Membership perks are tied to the contract that qualified you for it.WE heard from our DVC guide who was on vacation so I didn't get full details about closing costs. I agree with this. I have 3 different memberships with 3 different use years. It was fine until they stopped letting us borrow all of the next use year points. It's a pain in the butt now with my one small contract! As someone one that has multiple contacts in two use years, I can tell you will out a doubt unless you have a reason hard fast reason for multiple use years DONT…. I bought the second use year For the sole purpose of having separate accounts. For that it works perfectly….. for everything else it is a PITA!!
Disney tried to talk me out of it.
But I needed to do it this way.
I have also bought direct from Disney.
It is quick and easy. No ROFR
If I were going to to a to buy more points I would either buy RR or wait for the next new resort….
If I were going to buy a small number of points resale…. I would buy at a resort I already own. In a use year I already own.
50 points at any other the resorts doesn’t get you much. So you are always going to be doing spilt stays or wait list.
With the borrow limit even a 100 points doesn’t get you much.
However, add 50 points to a same resort, same use year will give you some flexibility …
Just for two cents…. You got them for free, take it for what it is worth.
Good luck either way
Yes, I got RR at 180 this summer i want to say 20 below new member rate, and then like a 4000 discount incentive. I also got the extra 200 points from the previous year.they do give deals to existing members depending on how many points you add on. You'll get the same deal whether you add on online or while at a resort or cruise. The biggest savings seem to be when a new resort is launched.
While buying a small same-UY resale at an owned resort is indeed wise if you're certain you don't want to do splits, you may find you're not that certain. We did.If I were going to buy a small number of points resale…. I would buy at a resort I already own. In a use year I already own.
