But We Haven't Lost Last Years Weight Yet! COMPLETED PAGE 32!

Thanks for the CP dinner review. We always have breakfast there, but I'm thinking of trying dinner next time. That pizza Tony had at House of Blues looked wonderful. Loving the reviews and pictures!

If you want authentic chicken wings, then you need to come visit me in Buffalo. We are the home of the chicken wing! I always think it's so funny that the rest of the country and the world calls them Buffalo wings. No one here does. We do have a few Buffalo Wild Wing restaurants around here, but they don't come close to the real wing places. I hope you don't mind if I take a side trip:

The Anchor Bar is the originator of the chicken wing. I've never been there, but my personal favorite is Duff's. I've heard from people who have had both, and Duff's always wins hands down. I don't know if you can order them and have them shipped out, but they are SO good!

It's like going to Philly...you don't find Philly Cheesesteaks there! Just Steak Sandwiches!!

I've been to the Anchor Bar...pretty good. To be honest, I'm a pretty big fan of Buffalo Wild Wings...I love their boneless wings!!

I don't know where the OP puts all this food!!! You're so tiny!

I'd like to split an order of those ribs with someone. Damn, that's a large order! Everything looked incredible as always. And I haven't tried the Kona pancakes, but I really want to now. :goodvibes

Longtime lurker on the food reports, and I must really say that I love your reviews (they make me VERY hungry!) The "off-site" also adds to it, and almost makes me wish (gasp!) that I didn't have free dining yet again in September! So much more American food out there in Orlando to sample.

Hooray for rebates!!! I am glad the travel agency is making it right and you can go on your Christmas trip!!

I can't believe that your dog ate a sock!! That's hilarious since it turned out ok!! I am always curius about dog behavior, as they can be so bizarre at times!!

Enjoying the reviews and looking forward to more!!

Yeay for off-site! I've only eaten a few meals on disney property, and whilst they've been great I just prefer dining off-site for value/choice. That doesn't mean that I don't love Sci Fi Diner and Beaches and Cream though, lol.

I just added breakfast at both Crystal Palace & Kona Cafe, thanks to your wonderful reviews. You're not very good for my trip budget but, what the heck it's a vacation & another $100 or so won't hurt us.

I can't wait for those macadamia nut pancakes!

Subscribing!!! I LOVE your reviews-- the Ohana one got me so excited for 9:45 on Aug 23 (my ressie!)

I've been following along faithfully, and just wanted to chime in that ESPN at the BWI does flaming hot wings. You can order them by degrees of "hotness". My son ordered them as hot as they come. The server asked him if he was sure he really wanted to do that. He only got through half before declaring himself beat. So, if you're desperate for an on-site place for hot wings, might be worth a try!

They are really good, DH has to make a stop there every trip!:thumbsup2

Ok, I'm a big Dork. I never knew that Buffalo wings had anything to do with the city. I thought it had something to do wit hthe animal, and I never could figure out what. LOL!
Now don't make fun of me. :rolleyes1

I will answer the rest later, just wanted to say I am SO with you!!!!!!!:rotfl: It doesn't help that the logo of Buffalo Wild Wings is a buffalo!!! I thought it was to do with hot wings, and buffalo's having a hot, wild temper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:lmao:
And have you ever tasted Buffalo? Yuck! Around here, buffalo wings has to do with the sauce. I did know that the ORIGINAL wings were from Buffalo, but we have adopted the buffalo wings as chicken wings with hot sauce. Kudos to Buffalo. :goodvibes

We love the Crystal Palace too! We have only gone for breakfast so we might have to try dinner after seeing all your yummy pictures!!

Well if you do could you post me some of the coconut flan home please?!!:)

Great post! Weve just booked our first 10 ADRS and have booked a Crystal Palace breakfast (as well as a few of the others you went too :thumbsup2). Can't wait! Great tip for pacing yourself for meeting the characters :)

You will love breakfast there! make sure you try the breakfast lasagna!

I'm glad to hear that the travel agency has refunded you money! Can't wait to read your Christmas food report lol! We've added yet another place to eat because of your report - DH and I think Wolf Gang Puck express breakfast looks amazing! Crystal palace looks pretty yummy too... I haven't been there in YEARS though

I am already planning where to eat next year!! Tony is horrified! I may branch out in to a trip report as well, as other peoples always lok so lovely with all the parks decorated!

I hope you enjoy the breakfast pizza - I find there is never a wrong time of day to enjoy pizza!!!!!

Thanks for the update!

Thanks!! :goodvibes

Loved the CP dinner report. I was getting a tad nervous as other boards had mentioned to avoid dinner and do bfast instead but we have already done bfast on a past visit and we were not impressed.

Hopefully we will not be held up for 30 mins. did they give a reason or were people staying at tables long

We prefer dinner there as well - I'm sure you will like it, and they are the best characters!!
No they didn't give a reason - I expect it was because of the rain - people were holding onto their tables for as long as possible rather than coming outside to wait for Wishes in the down pour!

Dh and I are lovin' your dining reports.

We keep looking forward to the next one. Dh is lovin' Tony's plates and all the desserts, lol.

We leave in 48 days, for 2 weeks, and dh just keeps saying, he's going to come home so fat, lol.

HAVE A GREAT TRIP!!!!!!!:cool1: 5 weeks later we are still trying to lose our weight, if that gives your DH an indication of how much we ate!!!

I was SO disappointed when I found out the school bread had been changed! I thought it was perfect just the way it was - it's been my favorite treat to get at Disney. I'll probably try it on our next trip, but I don't really have high hopes for it.

I thought it was perfect last year as well - I was so lookign forward to another. I don't know why they felt the need to mess with it! Hopefully the dryness was just a one-off and iot will be back to good standards for you!

Was the earl your best meal???

Can't wait t hear all about it! Those ribs look lush and the pancakae photos are making me sad Kona breakfast isn't in my ADR list!!

Nope, not the Earl!!! Don't feel sad - you get to pick a whole load more ADR's soon for your wedding trip!!!!:dance3:

I caught up! Love your reviews! I have to get breakfast at Kona in somewhere...always wanted to try it and it looks really good!

Those pancakes were divine. Definitely the best breakfast of the trip!

I realize this is a dining review (a great one!), but do you go on rides at all? When would you have the time and don't you get sick? Just wondering. ;)

We like to try and squeeze in one between each snack!!! Dumbo . . . snack . . Peter Pan . . lunch . .. that sort of routine!!!!!:rotfl: All rides that don't shake the stomach you wwill note!!!!!! Tony finally got me on ToT this year, and we had to go on it very first thing before I had eaten anything!!! :rotfl2:

We did Akershus for dinner, and I enjoyed it alot. It had some different foods, but we left full and enjoyed what we had. The desserts were a little strange though, and I only enjoyed the skool bread, minus the coconut. There is lots to chose from on the buffet part, and you can make a meal out of that alone.

Thanks - we might try that next year. I like to add a few new places on each trip!

!

I am in the minority of people who had no idea buffalo wings came from Buffalo, so thanks!!!!!:goodvibes I don't know if its my geography or my "food-history" I need to work on!!!!! Tony and I really want to do an American road-trip one day, so that will definitely be on our list of spots to hit! :thumbsup2

I've been trying to avoid your Dining TR as it's making me soooo hungry when I'm on a diet - but I'm so glad you enjoyed Buffalo Wild Wings! You went to 'our' BWW too - the top one on I Drive nearish to Wet'n'Wild?! We went there 3 or 4 times this trip to last us until next year and stocked up on the sauce bottles they sell. I'm not as brave as you two and prefer the Honey BBQ or Parmesan Garlic. If you ever go again, their onion rings are TDF and I'm not really an OR person - I think it's the southwestern ranch! Mmmm!! We've had some 'buffalo wild wings' since we got back and it tastes of Orlando, heehee! On our last lunchtime I made a total pig of myself as we shared the onion rings, but I had 16 wings to myself

Great Kona pics, I LOVE Kona for breakfast especially the pancakes! Ooooh and the No Way Jose! Every year I say I want one of those and never make it! It looks sooo delicious!

OK defeated the object - I am hungry

Oh, I forgot to mention! I had proper wings just for you at Margaritaville! The wings were lovely but wasn't keen on the sauce, but as least we had it on the side :)

Hey you! I am so glad you recommended BWW - we just LOVED it! I will taake your further recommendations next time and have the onion rings! May also try a cooler sauce next time :scared:! We didn't think to stock up on sauce while we were there :sad2:

Well done on the proper wings!!!! Don't they just taste better?!!!!:goodvibes

All I think about when i think of the holiday is those divine pancakes! They can't be that hard to make actually . . .?!

I LOVE the Pineapple Macadamia Pancakes from Kona:worship: I might try the Kona Pressed Coffee next trip (I'm always afraid it might be too strong:confused3

Yes the coffee is really good. I'm not a fan of strong coffee either - it does have a fairly strong flavor but not overpowering, and its lovely and rich.

I have really enjoyed reading your TR and seeing your pictures. I also love the wings at Buffalo Wild Wings. You mentioned seeing the ribs on the menu. I really wouldn't recommend them if your looking for really good ribs. Their ribs are just OK at best. Stick to the wings and you'll always leave satisfied. Save the ribs for a BBQ or steak house where they do them better.

Thanks for the tip! I will happily stick with the wings now!! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the CP dinner review. We always have breakfast there, but I'm thinking of trying dinner next time. That pizza Tony had at House of Blues looked wonderful. Loving the reviews and pictures!

He really loved that pizza! It looked good but i never get to try it as I always have to have the ribs there!

I've been to the Anchor Bar...pretty good. To be honest, I'm a pretty big fan of Buffalo Wild Wings...I love their boneless wings!!

I don't know where the OP puts all this food!!! You're so tiny!

Somehow I absorb it all on holiday, then the second I get home it seems to hit me (I swear its to do with the air pressure on the plane) and I go up about two sizes over night! Thats completely true!

I'd like to split an order of those ribs with someone. Damn, that's a large order! Everything looked incredible as always. And I haven't tried the Kona pancakes, but I really want to now. :goodvibes

Oh yes you must put them on your next gastro - journey plan!!! :goodvibes

Longtime lurker on the food reports, and I must really say that I love your reviews (they make me VERY hungry!) The "off-site" also adds to it, and almost makes me wish (gasp!) that I didn't have free dining yet again in September! So much more American food out there in Orlando to sample.

Thanks for yoru kind words!:goodvibes
That was our only regret about the dining plan this year, we didn't go off-site quite as much as usual.

He is such a pig of a dog! He once ate a whole (dead) bird on the field when we were walking him - it was bigger than him. I think he gets it from us . . .!!!!!

Yeay for off-site! I've only eaten a few meals on disney property, and whilst they've been great I just prefer dining off-site for value/choice. That doesn't mean that I don't love Sci Fi Diner and Beaches and Cream though, lol.

I am dying to try Sci-Fi next year - have you had some good meals there?

I just added breakfast at both Crystal Palace & Kona Cafe, thanks to your wonderful reviews. You're not very good for my trip budget but, what the heck it's a vacation & another $100 or so won't hurt us.

I can't wait for those macadamia nut pancakes!

I am sorry about your budget :) but it will be so worth it!!!!! You have to be able to eat exactly what you fancy on vacation!!!

Subscribing!!! I LOVE your reviews-- the Ohana one got me so excited for 9:45 on Aug 23 (my ressie!)

Ohh have a great time there!!

Thats a really good tip, thanks!! I will try that next year definitely.:thumbsup2

They are really good, DH has to make a stop there every trip!:thumbsup2

Great news, I didn't think of trying there!

Sci Fi is grrreat for lunch. It's standard Burger/diner faire obviously but the setting just makes it for me (I'm a massive geek). Last time I was there had an awesome waiter too, which made it for us.

We started today with breakfast at Chef Mickey’s. We had dinner here last year and just loved it, so building up to the trip we were really looking forward to this meal. Come the morning itself and we didn’t really fancy going – neither of us were hungry to be honest, having eaten a years worth of food in 12 days already! But we headed off. When we got there I especially asked not to be in a side room as last year we missed all the action, I was told the side room was now the quick service area (which it was) so settled down to wait, confident we would be in a nice central area.

It was packed in the waiting area, and I think we waited about 15 minutes to be seated. We got taken to our seat, and we weren’t very happy to be honest! It was another side area, to the far left of the room, only about 12 tables in there, very squished up, and I was very next to the door where the cast members were taking used plates etc, so had a constant stream of people bustling in and out. It drove me mad!

To be honest I don’t have a very good report to give of this place – whether it was as bad as I felt, or whether it felt extra bad because I was a bit grumpy about the location I don’t know, but I wouldn’t come for breakfast again, and it has tainted the memory of the dinner we had a little! First the location, which I have already said was rubbish. I thought the character interaction was quite poor. It took FORVEVER for them all to come round – to the stage when we were sitting there just with drinks for the last 10 minutes waiting for the last character because we couldn’t stretch the food out any longer. Interaction was also very rushed I thought, literally a photo and then they left – they didn’t play around at all. Our server – considering where we were sitting she had to keep passing us – was extremely poor at clearing the table of our plates. She also brought the bill out way before we had finished – a pet peeve of mine!

Food – because I wasn’t very hungry I was just going to have some cakes and Danishes for breakfast – I really fancied those. SO disappointed to get to the counter and discover there were no muffins as I had really wanted those. I had a croissant and a chocolate croissant which were both really nice, a Krispy Kreme donut which was good, and some fresh fruit

P1030284.jpg

Tony had fruit, a krispy Krème, and a cherry Danish – he really liked them.

P1030285.jpg

Cereal was lovely. You probably don’t want to see a cereal picture, but here goes!!! Yummy granola!

P1030297.jpg

He then had cereal (cornflakes) a choc croissant, and a brownie. Again, he enjoyed them.

P1030288.jpg

P1030289.jpg

I tried a hot plate but didn’t like anything very much, apart from the cinnamon roll which was lovely. The cheesy potatoes were nasty – it was the fake cheese. The pizza was egg and bacon – I was so disappointed. Last year when we were here I checked the menu and they did the peanut butter and jelly pizza that I had tried in DLR – I had been looking forward to that for a year, but it wasn’t to be! The potatoes and biscuit and gravy were OK, nothing special.

P1030290.jpg

Tony finished with one of the cinnamon rolls I recommended, some mini pancakes, and another brownie (looking back I must have been really moody, not to have tried one of them!!!).

P1030296.jpg

Tony gives it 8.5/10 – he also didn’t like the location but thought the food was good. I am only a 6/10. Sorry - Bit of a negative review there from me! I will try dinner there again, but not breakfast.

Lunch we were torn between the Earl or WGP express again, eventually deciding upon the Earl of Sandwich for a last visit (or so we thought at the time!). I went for my favourite – The Original (fresh roasted beef, cheddar and creamy horseradish sauce). Tony tried something different – the Italian (salami, capicola, roasted ham, mortadella, mozzarella cheese, roma tomato and Zesty Italian dressing). Mine was excellent as always – I just cannot get enough of this sandwich 10/10. Tony’s was very good as well – I tried some and it tasted like a meat feast pizza – yummy!!! Tony gave it 8.5/10, and I would definitely order it for me in future. Today’s brownie was super-moist! I will never tire of the Earl!

We went to Ghirardelli’s for deserts and shared a “Strike it Rich” (Butterscotch Hot Fudge Sundae - butter pecan ice cream with butterscotch and golden almond nuggets under a layer of vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream, chopped almonds and a cherry). This was blooming excellent! We both give it 10/10 and think it was the best of the trip. There was so much butterscotch sauce - it was unbelievable!

P1030320.jpg

Dinner was meant to be the Cheesecake Factory (off-site). However as I had cancelled Trails End a few nights earlier we had some spare table credits to use up and decided to spend the night in Epcot. Everywhere was fully booked apart from Nine Dragons, which could fit us in an “any time” according to Disney Dining – very ominous!!!!! We decided to go there and have a look at the menu, and if we didn’t like the look of it head to Beaches n Cream again.

Well on the walk there the heavens literally opened. I have never seen such rain. I was quite literally, without any exaggeration, soaked through to my skin when we arrived. Well, whatever the menu at Nine Dragons was like there was no way I was going out in that again. I was in a vile mood as there were no electric hand dryers to try dry my clothes with, I was cold, and I was in a restaurant I didn’t want to be in, and so was not in a receptive mood to try and enjoy a meal.

Which makes this more of a surprise – despite my wet underwear, my running mascara, and my soggy, ruined hair, this turned out to be my favourite meal of the trip! We got there about 20 minutes early, and were seated straight away. The restaurant was half empty the entire time we were there, which is such a shame for them as it is so good. Service was impeccable the whole way through – fast, attentive, friendly and accurate. The theming in the restaurant was very good.

We both decided to go for the set dinner – a four course meal that is included on the dining plan.

P1030322.jpg

It started with Dim Sum – pot stickers and vegetable sprint rolls with dipping sauces. We got one of these each which was very generous for a set menu we thought! These were really good and fresh, and the dipping sauces were lovely and tasty.

P1030326.jpg

Next we both choose Chicken Consommé with Pork Dumplings. I loved this – I adore clear soups and this was really nice. Very light.

P1030325.jpg

We were told we could pick anything from the menu for our entrée, rather than sticking to the options on the special menu. I ordered the sweet and sour pork, and Tony ordered the pepper beef. Tony's came with rice - mine came with noodles but I asked for rice instead. We asked for an extra plate so that we could share these – the manager himself brought us that over, and he was very charming and polite.

These were absolutely lovely and tasty. I think I have thought about the pork every day since we have got home, and drooled just a little bit. It was so fresh, and the batter was so crispy. And loads of sweet and sour sauce. The portions were massive – neither of us could finish. The beef was really good – loads of pepper.

P1030328.jpg

For dessert I had ginger ice-cream, and Tony had ginger cake. I often go to our local theatre at home just to get ginger ice-cream, as I don’t know anywhere else locally to get it, so this was a real treat! Very nice – creamy and loads of ginger, but again I couldn’t finish it! Tony liked his cake.

P1030335.jpg

P1030336.jpg

This was my best meal of the trip and we will eat here again; service, food, menu choices and ambiance were all perfect and it’s a 10/10. Everything tasted so freshly prepared. I can’t understand how it was half empty?! Tony also gives it 10/10 and says “Excellent service and food. Fresh food and very tasty. Recommended” which says it for both of us! If you like Chinese food book here!!!!

We were also given these to do while we were waiting for dessert . . . we marked each other. Mine is the top one so I will leave you this to judge . . . I think I was a bit of a harsh marker on poor Tony’s!!!!!

Up soon . . . POR breakfast, Grand Floridian Café lunch, and Raglan Road dinner.

I never tire of your updated reviews!!!! I'm sorry your Chef Mickeys breakfast wasn't so good...but i'm glad Earl made up for it! As far as Nine Dragons, that place has been hit or miss for us. We went on our honeymoon and loved it so much that we went back during our trip. We went again in our 2005 and 2006 trips and the food was terrible. I'm glad you had a great meal there...maybe we'll try it out while we're there this year. Those eggrolls and dumplings look fantastic!
