We started today with breakfast at Chef Mickeys. We had dinner here last year and just loved it, so building up to the trip we were really looking forward to this meal. Come the morning itself and we didnt really fancy going neither of us were hungry to be honest, having eaten a years worth of food in 12 days already! But we headed off. When we got there I especially asked not to be in a side room as last year we missed all the action, I was told the side room was now the quick service area (which it was) so settled down to wait, confident we would be in a nice central area.
It was packed in the waiting area, and I think we waited about 15 minutes to be seated. We got taken to our seat, and we werent very happy to be honest! It was another side area, to the far left of the room, only about 12 tables in there, very squished up, and I was very next to the door where the cast members were taking used plates etc, so had a constant stream of people bustling in and out. It drove me mad!
To be honest I dont have a very good report to give of this place whether it was as bad as I felt, or whether it felt extra bad because I was a bit grumpy about the location I dont know, but I wouldnt come for breakfast again, and it has tainted the memory of the dinner we had a little! First the location, which I have already said was rubbish. I thought the character interaction was quite poor. It took FORVEVER for them all to come round to the stage when we were sitting there just with drinks for the last 10 minutes waiting for the last character because we couldnt stretch the food out any longer. Interaction was also very rushed I thought, literally a photo and then they left they didnt play around at all. Our server considering where we were sitting she had to keep passing us was extremely poor at clearing the table of our plates. She also brought the bill out way before we had finished a pet peeve of mine!
Food because I wasnt very hungry I was just going to have some cakes and Danishes for breakfast I really fancied those. SO disappointed to get to the counter and discover there were no muffins as I had really wanted those. I had a croissant and a chocolate croissant which were both really nice, a Krispy Kreme donut which was good, and some fresh fruit
Tony had fruit, a krispy Krème, and a cherry Danish he really liked them.
Cereal was lovely. You probably dont want to see a cereal picture, but here goes!!! Yummy granola!
He then had cereal (cornflakes) a choc croissant, and a brownie. Again, he enjoyed them.
I tried a hot plate but didnt like anything very much, apart from the cinnamon roll which was lovely. The cheesy potatoes were nasty it was the fake cheese. The pizza was egg and bacon I was so disappointed. Last year when we were here I checked the menu and they did the peanut butter and jelly pizza that I had tried in DLR I had been looking forward to that for a year, but it wasnt to be! The potatoes and biscuit and gravy were OK, nothing special.
Tony finished with one of the cinnamon rolls I recommended, some mini pancakes, and another brownie (looking back I must have been really moody, not to have tried one of them!!!).
Tony gives it 8.5/10 he also didnt like the location but thought the food was good. I am only a 6/10. Sorry - Bit of a negative review there from me! I will try dinner there again, but not breakfast.
Lunch we were torn between the Earl or WGP express again, eventually deciding upon the Earl of Sandwich for a last visit (or so we thought at the time!). I went for my favourite The Original (fresh roasted beef, cheddar and creamy horseradish sauce). Tony tried something different the Italian (salami, capicola, roasted ham, mortadella, mozzarella cheese, roma tomato and Zesty Italian dressing). Mine was excellent as always I just cannot get enough of this sandwich 10/10. Tonys was very good as well I tried some and it tasted like a meat feast pizza yummy!!! Tony gave it 8.5/10, and I would definitely order it for me in future. Todays brownie was super-moist! I will never tire of the Earl!

We went to Ghirardellis for deserts and shared a Strike it Rich (Butterscotch Hot Fudge Sundae - butter pecan ice cream with butterscotch and golden almond nuggets under a layer of vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream, chopped almonds and a cherry). This was blooming excellent! We both give it 10/10 and think it was the best of the trip. There was so much butterscotch sauce - it was unbelievable!
Dinner was meant to be the Cheesecake Factory (off-site). However as I had cancelled Trails End a few nights earlier we had some spare table credits to use up and decided to spend the night in Epcot. Everywhere was fully booked apart from Nine Dragons, which could fit us in an any time according to Disney Dining very ominous!!!!! We decided to go there and have a look at the menu, and if we didnt like the look of it head to Beaches n Cream again.
Well on the walk there the heavens literally opened. I have never seen such rain. I was quite literally, without any exaggeration, soaked through to my skin when we arrived. Well, whatever the menu at Nine Dragons was like there was no way I was going out in that again. I was in a vile mood as there were no electric hand dryers to try dry my clothes with, I was cold, and I was in a restaurant I didnt want to be in, and so was not in a receptive mood to try and enjoy a meal.
Which makes this more of a surprise despite my wet underwear, my running mascara, and my soggy, ruined hair, this turned out to be my favourite meal of the trip! We got there about 20 minutes early, and were seated straight away. The restaurant was half empty the entire time we were there, which is such a shame for them as it is so good. Service was impeccable the whole way through fast, attentive, friendly and accurate. The theming in the restaurant was very good.
We both decided to go for the set dinner a four course meal that is included on the dining plan.
It started with Dim Sum pot stickers and vegetable sprint rolls with dipping sauces. We got one of these each which was very generous for a set menu we thought! These were really good and fresh, and the dipping sauces were lovely and tasty.
Next we both choose Chicken Consommé with Pork Dumplings. I loved this I adore clear soups and this was really nice. Very light.
We were told we could pick anything from the menu for our entrée, rather than sticking to the options on the special menu. I ordered the sweet and sour pork, and Tony ordered the pepper beef. Tony's came with rice - mine came with noodles but I asked for rice instead. We asked for an extra plate so that we could share these the manager himself brought us that over, and he was very charming and polite.
These were absolutely lovely and tasty. I think I have thought about the pork every day since we have got home, and drooled just a little bit. It was so fresh, and the batter was so crispy. And loads of sweet and sour sauce. The portions were massive neither of us could finish. The beef was really good loads of pepper.

For dessert I had ginger ice-cream, and Tony had ginger cake. I often go to our local theatre at home just to get ginger ice-cream, as I dont know anywhere else locally to get it, so this was a real treat! Very nice creamy and loads of ginger, but again I couldnt finish it! Tony liked his cake.
This was my best meal of the trip and we will eat here again; service, food, menu choices and ambiance were all perfect and its a 10/10. Everything tasted so freshly prepared. I cant understand how it was half empty?! Tony also gives it 10/10 and says Excellent service and food. Fresh food and very tasty. Recommended which says it for both of us! If you like Chinese food book here!!!!
We were also given these to do while we were waiting for dessert . . . we marked each other. Mine is the top one so I will leave you this to judge . . . I think I was a bit of a harsh marker on poor Tonys!!!!!
Up soon . . . POR breakfast, Grand Floridian Café lunch, and Raglan Road dinner.
