But We Haven't Lost Last Years Weight Yet! COMPLETED PAGE 32!

This morning we stayed at the hotel foodcourt again and had some more beignets . . . we just can’t keep away from them! They were just as good as ever! If you have never tried these you really have to go to POFQ for breakfast one day to try them!

We were at AK today and I had been planning my snack for ages – I wanted one of the lovely cornbread muffins from Flame Tree BBQ – well I got there, waited in line, and when I got to the counter they told me they don’t do them anymore!! :scared1:I couldn’t believe it!! I went in to a sulk and refused to have a snack, so Tony got himself a cookie dough ice-cream from the Anandapur Ice-cream Truck (I think, it was the one over near the safari!). When I tasted it, I thought it was absolutely lovely. Really creamy ice-cream, very sweet, and loads of cookie dough lumps. .. so I went back to get myself one. This was about 2 minutes after Tony got his, and by the time I got there they had shut and didn’t reopen all day, so they obviously had some problems, and I obviously wasn’t destined to get a snack that day!!! The ice-cream was great though – 10/10! And yes – I did eat half of Tony’s!!! :lmao:
P1020939.jpg

Lunch and I really wanted to try Yak and Yeti counter service, but Tony just didn’t fancy that, so we went to our back up – and also a new place to us – Pizzafari. I cant stand Disney pizza (too much sauce on the base for me!) so I went for the Hot Italian Style Sandwich with Chips - Turkey, ham, Swiss and Provolone Cheese topped with Caesar salad and pesto marinated tomatoes. Tony had the Pepperoni Pizza – we also ended up with a Caesar salad on the tray which we hadn’t requested, so we’re not sure if that came with one of our meals, or was something to do with the dining plan? :confused3

The sandwich was OK – lots of tasty filling, but I found the bread a little dry. Could eat it again if needs be, but I wouldn’t be keen! The salad was just a bowl of lettuce with dressing – no croutons or anything. Fresh, but that’s all there is to say about that! I would give that part of the meal 7/10.

Tony said his pizza was nice and gave it 8/10 – he thought the one in Riverside foodcourt at POR was a little better though.

My dessert was great!!! I went for the chocolate cake and it was a revelation!! Incredibly thick, sweet chocalately icing! Not much cake part, but it was a sacrifice I was willing to make! This was definitely a 9/10.

Desserts
P1020945.jpg

Tony didn’t eat all his apple pie as it was a bit dry – he thought it needed ice-cream (you may notice he always has to have ice-cream with his desserts!!). Otherwise it was OK. The meal as a whole was OK, but I wouldn’t be desperate to go back!

Dinner was at Boma and we really couldn’t be bothered to go. We were both really tired, couldn’t remember what we had loved so much about it last year, and didn’t fancy going there two days running. However we couldn’t think of anywhere else to go so we reluctantly drove over there. So glad we did!! We had a great night!

We got seated within 5 minutes of our ADR time, and were seated in the same area as breakfast yesterday, and our meal there last year! If we get seated anywhere else another time I will be so disorientated!

We started with a plate of African breads and hummus each – there are three different hummus’s – one sun dried tomato, one olive and white bean (I think) . . . and I don’t remember the 3rd – sorry! I had them all, and Tony didn’t have the olive one. It always amazes me that he eats this here, as he wouldn’t dream of it at home! They were all gorgeous – so much flavour packed in to them, and the vreads were lovely and crispy.

Hummus and breads
P1020972.jpg

P1020975.jpg

I was dying to try the coconut soup I have heard about, but it had seafood in it – yuck!!!!!!! Instead I tried a lamb casserole in a tomato stock, which was good - huge chunks of lamb!
P1020973.jpg

Tony didn't wrote down what his soup was, but I think it was sausage and lentil - I tasted some and it was lovely - nicer than the lamb dish! I woudl have this again another time!
P1020974.jpg

Then it was onto the wood roasted meats area. This is my first plateful – beef with mustard sauce – this was a little gristly to be honest, but I loved that sauce! Besides that you can see some pork – that was really good and tender – and no gristle! That slop on top of it was FuFu – (sweet and white potatoes mashed with coriander and cinnamon) – and one of the most inedible piles of slop ever invented! It was gross!!!!! I had some falafels with yogurt dressing which were excellent, some very tasty rice, potatoes with Afritude which were ok – a little dry, and two mealie breads which was a cornbread muffin by another name and was DIVINE! I cannot get enough of cornbread, and this was really fresh and lovely.
P1020979.jpg

This is Tony’s first plateful – he had some spiced roasted chicken, some bobotie at the front (lamb and beef quiche with onions, raisins and bread), beef, falafel, potatoes, and some of that lovely mealie bread!
P1020980.jpg

This was all so good that we had to squeeze more in!

I was much more restrained this time, just going for my favourite items of mealie bread and pork.
P1020981.jpg

Tony had some more hummus and breads, mealie bread, rice, and I think that meat is some pork.
P1020983.jpg

We loved both these platefuls, but there was a little room left for dessert!!!! Now last year I tried the much recommended zebra domes and didn’t think much of them, so thought I would try them again. Well this was worse than I remembered – it tasted of rancid milk! Tony tried a bit of it and quite liked it so it’s obviously just me, but I won’t be trying them again! I had a coconut tart which wasn’t very coconutty!!! The chocolate tart was lovely and rich, there was a blondie which was OK. I’m not sure what the other items were now, but I remember not being particularly impressed with any of the desserts apart from the choc tart.
P1020984.jpg

This is Tony’s plate – chocolate brownie, fruit tart, a couple of other bits, and the lovely banana bread and vanilla sauce which I loved last year – I ate most of his and it was as good as I remembered!
P1020985.jpg

YES - we had to roll through the door at the end!

We will definitely come back a third year running, and I am so glad we didn’t cancel like we were going to! While I thought the desserts were a little underwhelming (Tony likes all his though) everything else was just lovely. Tony gives it 9.5/10 and says “excellent” and I give it 9/10! Highly recommended for well cooked, really well flavoured foods that you won’t find anywhere else at Disney!

So I don’t like Tonga Toast or Zebra Domes . . . I’m bracing myself to be kicked off the Dis!!!!! Wait until I get to my school bread story soon . . . .!

Ready next for WGP Express breakfast, Chefs De France lunch, and Beaches N Cream dinner. And my boss if off work for the next two weeks so I should be able to get reviews up at a decent pace again!!!

Great update!!!! :thumbsup2

We so need to try Boma in the near future! I wish we could fit it into our schedule for August/September, but I just signed up for two dessert parties AND I have far too many reservations, LOL! I guess I will have a hard time spending my CS credits!

As for not liking Zebra Domes and Tonga Toast - I don't care for Beignets, :lmao:! We have something similar here in Austria, which in my opinion is much nicer than what they sell as Beignets. But I just love Zebra Domes!

As for your trip to DLRP in January - be prepared for it to be COLD!!! I have seen the waterfalls frozen solid more than once. We usually go in December and then again in February and it can be rather chilly. But - bring a scarf, a wolly hat, warm boots and some gloves and you'll be all set!
And if there is NO real snow - they "make" it snow on Main Street - so neat!
Remember they sell Hot Chocolate and sugar cookies there - yum! :goodvibes

Great update! Confession here....I'm not a cornbread fan, and I am actually secretly pleased Flame Tree BBQ don't sell them anymore ..... my DF loves Flame Tree BBQ but we always get stuck with those cornmuffins :lmao: Please dont hate me!

Great update. I had that same sandwich at pizzafari too. I really enjoyed it. But I was so stuffed from it that not until I got back to the hotel did I realize they never gave me my chocolate cake. :scared1: I was so mad, as that would've made a lovely snack that night. I never had any the whole trip and I usually love Disney's chocolate cake for some reason. Any other, I'm not so much a fan.

I'm disappointed to hear the cornbread is no longer being served at the Flame Tree - that's always my favorite part! I'm with you on the zebra domes, too. I tried them last time and they just weren't my kind of thing. I think my DH liked them, though. It's too bad you didn't get to try the coconut curried chicken stew. I must say, it's an absolute favorite of mine. I've actually made it at home a lot, but it's better at Boma. For our next trip, I made sure to get reservations for a Wednesday, since I know it will be served. I can't wait! I'm looking forward to your next reviews!

Awesome updates! DH is really sad though that there won't be cornbread at Flame Tree for him this year! On the bright side we did go to Tony Roma's last weekend and it was sooo good, so thanks so much for inspiring us to go! We'll just have to keep reading to figure out where else we can fit in a cornbread run for DH this year!

So I just want to say I love your posts!!!

Now, what are these zebra domes made of??? I keep hearing about them and how people love em or hate em!

Thanks for the great update Sonya! That sandwich really sounds like it's up my street, and a great review of Boma (but I'm still not sold on it other than for breakfast!)

Eeee, I can't wait for your next review! Beached and Cream!

Another great update!!!! I really want to try Boma, but DH is dead set against it....maybe one day........................

well we are hoping to try a Boma dinner on our first night. I thought it would be nice to try one of our hotel's restaurants but i do have reservations as my DBF is a little fussy. As we are on free dining I thought that if its free it would be enough of an incentive for him to try it!

Do you think it has enough foods in there for someone who is being slightly fussy?

Great updates, Sonya!!! I still have no clue where you manage to put all the food though! :rotfl:

Love love love the report, just like the last one! Keep 'em coming!

So glad you kept your Boma ressie! I love Boma, breakfast & dinner :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I happen to love zebra domes and the cocoamisu is to die for! I actually ran back into AKL and down to Mara after my cruise just to get zebra domes to bring home. Unfortunately the long drive & heat turned them into zebra flats :sad2:

What's up with no corn muffins at Flame Tree? I might not need to go back to Flame Tree.

Looking forward to the next update :goodvibes

Yum the tuna is my favorite Earl sandwich and those pictures have me wanting one sooooo bad.

I hope you get one soon!!

I am so bummed we missed Boma the last few trips, looks like they have some new things and the goat cheese eggs sound great!

Where did you get the magic cookie bar?

I don't usually go for scrambled egg, but with the goats cheese and chives it was really good!

The magic cookie bars are from Port Orleans Riverside . . . I have seen them on another review in another foodcourt though - I think it was Wilderness Lodge!

Yummy. Thanks for these reports and great pictures.

Thanks for reading!

All that food looks wonderful. I've been starving myself all day as our oldest DS is taking us to dinner with his girlfriend (belated Father's Day dinner for his dad) to Fogo de Chao...where it is all you can eat meat, etc. But now I'm drooling and dinner's not for another three hours yet.

Can't wait for more. :surfweb:

Hope you had a great meal out!! These boards are terrible for making you hungry, aren't they? :rotfl:

Loving your food review and seems like you have had some great food. Can't wait to hear about Boma because we are going there in August.

It was GOOD!!! Your trip is so soon!!!:yay:

Another wonderful update! I always have to get myself a snack after reading your reports. I can't wait to have that amazing Disney food again in just 2 more days.

 Hope you are having a great trip! Post a link if you start a food / trip report!

ew (re The Wave Desserts) dont mix fruit with my chocolate!! :rotfl2: Great reviews! LOVED the pictures, you are looking mahvelous (and that girl behind you is too funny!)

I know!!! It looked like chocolate . . . it needed to taste like it too!!:rotfl2:

Yumm-o!!!
Looks like I may have to switch plans up and get back to Boma for breakfast. I thought I'd be okay without it this time, but after seeing your pictures....I got to get some Boma breakfast.
Dessert at the Wave looks lovely.
Thanks for sharing!

I think you may have to!!!:goodvibes

MMMMMMM, love Boma breakfast :thumbsup2

Really excited to try the Wave in a few weeks! :goodvibes

Ohh have a great time there - its a really nice, new place, with a lovely calm atmosphere.

DW and I love Earl of Sandwich! I haven't tried a cannonball yet but I'm definitely going to in about 2 weeks! :goodvibes

Whoa - less than two weeks now!!! Have a sandwich for me!!

Everything looks delicious, thanks for the great reviews!

Glad you are enjoying it!:goodvibes

I love that tomato salad too. Yum, I'm hungry thinking about it.

I'm with you on the pretzel. First it has to have salt (I wonder why it didn't) and then forget mustard. I'll eat it plain any day, but cheese (the good 'ol fake stuff) is really good too.

I love the tuna at Earl. That is what I usually get. Much better than anything I can make. LOL!

Thats true, even Tuna at Disney is a lot better than at home!!! I am definitely going to try a pretzel with salt next year! Whar are churros like by the way - I still ahven't tried one of those either! :confused3

Oooh fantastic Wave review - can't wait to try there on this trip (I'm hoping this is where we will have our wedding meal :goodvibes)

Oh my goodness that will be so lovely! Its really nice inside, perfect for a wedding meal!!

We are booking boma breakfast for october :cool1: can't wait !

Yey!!!

Love your reviews! Ever since I first hear about The Wave I have wanted to go - definitely on my next trip! I also love lamb, but have never even tried to cook it at home - it's so expensive and I'm afraid of ruining it!

!

I know what you mean - I cooked lamb for our anniversary and it didn't come out so well! Leave it to the pro's in future!!!

I'm so glad you like The Wave...a new restaruant for us to try on our next trip and the Lamb Shank is what I want to order. Thank you so much for your review.

You won't regret trying it!!

I really enjoyed your first dining review and I am happy to see that you are doing a second one. Ignore those people that stare when you take photos. They are the ones that are missing out!

Are you planning on doing any reviews or trip reports for the cruise part of your trip?

Exactly! These people don't know what they're missing on the Dis!

I do keep thinking of doing a cruise trip report, once I am finished this!

Sonya:

I love your reviews...can't wait for more;)

Thanks!!:goodvibes

Glad you are here!

Great update!!!! :thumbsup2

TWO dessert parties?! Wow! Where are they? I know there is one for Wishes now, but is there another? I can't wait to read your next reviews to see how they turn out!

No beignets?? :faint:

Thanks for the DLP tips! We are actually going in March now - I got worried that booking on my birthday might mean there was so much snow on the road that we couldn't get to London to catch the Eurostar (we live in the middle of nowhere!!). I like the sound of the sugar cookies!!:thumbsup2

Great update! Confession here....I'm not a cornbread fan, and I am actually secretly pleased Flame Tree BBQ don't sell them anymore ..... my DF loves Flame Tree BBQ but we always get stuck with those cornmuffins :lmao: Please dont hate me!

Well as long as you forgive me for hating zebra domes!!!:rotfl:

I will remember that for next year and try book Boma on a Wednesday - reviews of that soup was one of the reasons I booked to go again this year, so I was really disappointed!

I know, I was so looking forward to that as my snack :sad1: I can't figure why they would get rid of them?! Not sure what they serve the ribs with now!

Ohh I'm glad - and jealous - that you tried Tony Romas! :thumbsup2

So I just want to say I love your posts!!!

Now, what are these zebra domes made of??? I keep hearing about them and how people love em or hate em!

Thank you!
They are white chocolate, with squishy chocolate inside laced with alcohol. I usually love anything chocolate, but these just don't do it for me!!!

Thanks for the great update Sonya! That sandwich really sounds like it's up my street, and a great review of Boma (but I'm still not sold on it other than for breakfast!)

Eeee, I can't wait for your next review! Beached and Cream!

Hey Torsie!! Ohh Beaches n cream . . my favourite!!!

Another great update!!!! I really want to try Boma, but DH is dead set against it....maybe one day........................

Tony never wanted to try it, and now he loves it, so keep pushing it!!! Or, just do what I did with Ohana - book it and then tell him later!!:rotfl:

well we are hoping to try a Boma dinner on our first night. I thought it would be nice to try one of our hotel's restaurants but i do have reservations as my DBF is a little fussy. As we are on free dining I thought that if its free it would be enough of an incentive for him to try it!

Do you think it has enough foods in there for someone who is being slightly fussy?

I would definitely recommend it if you are on free dining - nothing to lose!!

I have to say Tony can be quite fussy with trying new things, but he loves it here! A lot of the stuff is "normal" food - so pork, beef, chicken, just flavoured slightly differently to normal - none of the flavors are too overwhelming though. There are some "different" things, like the fufu, but definitely enough normal ones to get him through one meal, so you can try it!! And if he's really desperate the childrens buffet had pasta, meatballs and chicken tenders!!

Great updates, Sonya!!! I still have no clue where you manage to put all the food though! :rotfl:

Love love love the report, just like the last one! Keep 'em coming!

Its all stored up in my thighs at the minute!!! :rotfl: Thanks!

So glad you kept your Boma ressie! I love Boma, breakfast & dinner :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Looking forward to the next update :goodvibes

Boma is now definitely one of our faves! This year firmly established it!!

Oh no!!! I bet that was disappointing when you got home! I bought myself some reeses cups to bring home, and they were all completely flat as well!!!

I'm with you - Flame Tree is off my list now as well :sad1:

Shall get a new update up tomorrow!!!!! Just watching Wimbledon . . . there is a very small chance that the UK may actually win a match!!!:rotfl:

Hey there Sonya :wave2:

I read your last food report but can't remember if I posted or not so I thought I should post on this one :)

I really love the way you write these and it's great to hear things from a Brit perspective. In fact your last report has made me want to try Cheesecake Factory when we go in September - I may even do a food trip report (we'll catch a few days of Food and Wine :thumbsup2)

Your dinner at Ohana was interesting as I didn't know you got more than just the meat. We have had 3 ADR's in consecutive years and for one reason or another have not made it :rotfl2: We're going to WDW in Sept with friends and couldn't squeeze it in - we've only got 10 nights to show them as much as possible and we have to go to a Mall and have a couple of relaxed days in there too. But hopefully one day we'll get there :goodvibes

I have to agree with you on the zebra domes, we're going to Boma again in Sept and like you I will try them again but I just didn't get the love :confused3 Boma is fab tho and we also really enjoyed Sanaa (we're doing both in Sept)

We'll also be going back to the World in Dec next year  we're doing the cruise arranged by the Podcast team (the one in May was the best) and are also going to spend Christmas there too :woohoo: When we went in Dec last year we mostly had t-shirt weather, some nights were a little chilly but the day we got there and the day we left were really cold (by Florida standards) I was shivering and even DH was cold :scared1: (he doesn't get cold :lmao:) So be prepared for chilly and warm. A few pairs of trousers and jumpers just in case and a coat (esp as you'll need it for this country :rotfl:)

Can't wait to read more and sorry for the longish post but I've literally read all your posts this eveing :surfweb: and I wanted to add my thoughts.

I am not caught up with this thread yet (I just found it today) but I am loving it so far! I wanted to stop and say THANK YOU for posting your reviews.

We are going to Disney in October. I can't wait! We are renting a house offsite so we aren't doing the DDP but we will still do some Disney meals!
