This morning we stayed at the hotel foodcourt again and had some more beignets . . . we just cant keep away from them! They were just as good as ever! If you have never tried these you really have to go to POFQ for breakfast one day to try them!
We were at AK today and I had been planning my snack for ages I wanted one of the lovely cornbread muffins from Flame Tree BBQ well I got there, waited in line, and when I got to the counter they told me they dont do them anymore!!

I couldnt believe it!! I went in to a sulk and refused to have a snack, so Tony got himself a cookie dough ice-cream from the Anandapur Ice-cream Truck (I think, it was the one over near the safari!). When I tasted it, I thought it was absolutely lovely. Really creamy ice-cream, very sweet, and loads of cookie dough lumps. .. so I went back to get myself one. This was about 2 minutes after Tony got his, and by the time I got there they had shut and didnt reopen all day, so they obviously had some problems, and I obviously wasnt destined to get a snack that day!!! The ice-cream was great though 10/10! And yes I did eat half of Tonys!!!
Lunch and I really wanted to try Yak and Yeti counter service, but Tony just didnt fancy that, so we went to our back up and also a new place to us Pizzafari. I cant stand Disney pizza (too much sauce on the base for me!) so I went for the Hot Italian Style Sandwich with Chips - Turkey, ham, Swiss and Provolone Cheese topped with Caesar salad and pesto marinated tomatoes. Tony had the Pepperoni Pizza we also ended up with a Caesar salad on the tray which we hadnt requested, so were not sure if that came with one of our meals, or was something to do with the dining plan?
The sandwich was OK lots of tasty filling, but I found the bread a little dry. Could eat it again if needs be, but I wouldnt be keen! The salad was just a bowl of lettuce with dressing no croutons or anything. Fresh, but thats all there is to say about that! I would give that part of the meal 7/10.
Sandwich
Tony said his pizza was nice and gave it 8/10 he thought the one in Riverside foodcourt at POR was a little better though.
pizza
My dessert was great!!! I went for the chocolate cake and it was a revelation!! Incredibly thick, sweet chocalately icing! Not much cake part, but it was a sacrifice I was willing to make! This was definitely a 9/10.
Desserts
Tony didnt eat all his apple pie as it was a bit dry he thought it needed ice-cream (you may notice he always has to have ice-cream with his desserts!!). Otherwise it was OK. The meal as a whole was OK, but I wouldnt be desperate to go back!
Dinner was at Boma and we really couldnt be bothered to go. We were both really tired, couldnt remember what we had loved so much about it last year, and didnt fancy going there two days running. However we couldnt think of anywhere else to go so we reluctantly drove over there. So glad we did!! We had a great night!
We got seated within 5 minutes of our ADR time, and were seated in the same area as breakfast yesterday, and our meal there last year! If we get seated anywhere else another time I will be so disorientated!
We started with a plate of African breads and hummus each there are three different hummuss one sun dried tomato, one olive and white bean (I think) . . . and I dont remember the 3rd sorry! I had them all, and Tony didnt have the olive one. It always amazes me that he eats this here, as he wouldnt dream of it at home! They were all gorgeous so much flavour packed in to them, and the vreads were lovely and crispy.
Hummus and breads
I was dying to try the coconut soup I have heard about, but it had seafood in it yuck!!!!!!! Instead I tried a lamb casserole in a tomato stock, which was good - huge chunks of lamb!
Tony didn't wrote down what his soup was, but I think it was sausage and lentil - I tasted some and it was lovely - nicer than the lamb dish! I woudl have this again another time!
Then it was onto the wood roasted meats area. This is my first plateful beef with mustard sauce this was a little gristly to be honest, but I loved that sauce! Besides that you can see some pork that was really good and tender and no gristle! That slop on top of it was FuFu (sweet and white potatoes mashed with coriander and cinnamon) and one of the most inedible piles of slop ever invented! It was gross!!!!! I had some falafels with yogurt dressing which were excellent, some very tasty rice, potatoes with Afritude which were ok a little dry, and two mealie breads which was a cornbread muffin by another name and was DIVINE! I cannot get enough of cornbread, and this was really fresh and lovely.
This is Tonys first plateful he had some spiced roasted chicken, some bobotie at the front (lamb and beef quiche with onions, raisins and bread), beef, falafel, potatoes, and some of that lovely mealie bread!
This was all so good that we had to squeeze more in!
I was much more restrained this time, just going for my favourite items of mealie bread and pork.
Tony had some more hummus and breads, mealie bread, rice, and I think that meat is some pork.
We loved both these platefuls, but there was a little room left for dessert!!!! Now last year I tried the much recommended zebra domes and didnt think much of them, so thought I would try them again. Well this was worse than I remembered it tasted of rancid milk! Tony tried a bit of it and quite liked it so its obviously just me, but I wont be trying them again! I had a coconut tart which wasnt very coconutty!!! The chocolate tart was lovely and rich, there was a blondie which was OK. Im not sure what the other items were now, but I remember not being particularly impressed with any of the desserts apart from the choc tart.
This is Tonys plate chocolate brownie, fruit tart, a couple of other bits, and the lovely banana bread and vanilla sauce which I loved last year I ate most of his and it was as good as I remembered!
YES - we had to roll through the door at the end!
We will definitely come back a third year running, and I am so glad we didnt cancel like we were going to! While I thought the desserts were a little underwhelming (Tony likes all his though) everything else was just lovely. Tony gives it 9.5/10 and says excellent and I give it 9/10! Highly recommended for well cooked, really well flavoured foods that you wont find anywhere else at Disney!
So I dont like Tonga Toast or Zebra Domes . . . Im bracing myself to be kicked off the Dis!!!!! Wait until I get to my school bread story soon . . . .!
Ready next for WGP Express breakfast, Chefs De France lunch, and Beaches N Cream dinner. And my boss if off work for the next two weeks so I should be able to get reviews up at a decent pace again!!!
