But We Haven't Lost Last Years Weight Yet! COMPLETED PAGE 32!

That tonga toast looks like something my dh would love, me I'll go for the bunt cake, that looks so yummy. I wish they served the slipper somewhere other than the GF restaurants I would love to get my dd one for her birthday but we won't be eating there this trip. Boo hoo!

I am seriously a fan of your TRs! You're going to have to win the lottery so you can go more often and write more of them! :goodvibes

You've convinced me -- a caramel sundae at Ghirardelli's it is! You and Aussie Angel have a way with the food reports -- I think perhaps Americans don't appreciate the goodness the way our visitors do (or maybe I need to work harder to discover more great TRs!)

Maria :upsidedow

Food does always taste better away from home, but I think if I lived next door to Ghiredellis I would still visit it every day! I wouldn't fit through the door after a while, but I'd try!!!:rotfl:

Sorry to have gone MIA, but I had a trip to Disney and 3night cruise on the Wonder :cool1: Anyways, I am all caught up and loving the reviews!:goodvibes

Ohh hope you had a lovely trip!!! Are you doing food reviews or a trip report?

Your reports are wonderful! I couldn't wait to read your Ohana report. My family of 4 is bringing a another family of 5 to WDW July 4th. And we are all going to Ohana for dinner. Even though I love it, I read more and more bad reports. If you and Tony enjoyed the food, I feel confident my guests will too. My plan was to give them a couple of pineapple drinks so they wouldn't be too annoyed by the ukelele. But I might have to rethink because that didn't work for you!! ;)

I'm sure they will love it! We were so pleasantly surprised!
Thats a good point - maybe if I had finished the pineappe I wouldn't have minded the entertainment! Obviously why they sell them there!

At first we thought the entertainer was a female impersonator, or at least, we weren't entirely sure! At any rate, it seemed as much a spoof as real! :rotfl:

Ha haaaa!!!!! :rotfl: I can see what you mean!!!!!

Another terrific installment - thank you! What, no pictures of the gator?

Have you had the S'mores dessert at LeCellier? If so, how would you say it compares to the one at 50's Prime Time? I love the presentation of the LeCellier s'mores, but I found it very difficult to eat and not all that tasty. However, I love the real deal, made at a campfire! If 50's PT is better I'd consider trying it there.

Looking forward to the next review!

We were too busy running!!!!!!
No 50's PTC is the only place I have ever had s'mores, so I'm not sure how authentic they are!:confused3

I've loved reading your reviews! Good job!:thumbsup2

Thanks!

 Yay! Great update!!!! All these great reviews of 50pt are making me very temped!!!

I would recommend it if you can squeeze it into your schedule! We had such fun!

My son claims that I will never be able to finish the milk shake @50's Primetime. Were you able to down the ginormous shake?

No I let you all down! Not even half of it! It IS ginormous - if you want a chance I would say have it instead of a dessert!

Fried Chicken, Milkshakes, and Smore's...what a perfect and well balanced meal! Can't wait to have almost the same thing this week! :)

Thanks for the great reviews!

I'm sure it includes all the major food groups . . .!!!!:rotfl: And everyone knows chicken is low fat!!!!:rotfl:

I am REALLY enjoying your reviews. I am an old fan (back from Gluttony!)!

I cried real tears when I found out the fried cheese appy was gone. That was one of the best appetizers I had on our last 2 trips!!!! I was so upset we are eating at Sci Fi Dine-In instead of 50's!!!

Thanks for great reviews! I am in awe of you and hubby's ability to put away the food!

Ms. H

Hi again!! It truly was one of the best appetizers, wasn't it? I can't imagine why they would get rid of it :confused3 . Let me know what you think of Sci-Fi, as I have my eye on that for next year!

I just found this thread...I am loving your reviews so far! They are honest, funny and great pics...Keep 'em coming! :cheer2:

Glad you are enjoying!:thumbsup2

Chocolate covered twinkie! I almost fell of my chair!!! OMG:cloud9:

Are they quite a rare find then?!

Loved Ohana's review I think that is the one meal i am most looking forward too as well as a little bit of home at Raglan Rd.

My tummy is rumbling yum yum yumpopcorn::

Thank you! Mine is rumbling and I just had lunch!:sad2:

I have eaten at 50's PT before, but we won't be taking our daughter anytime soon. She's very picky and almost never finishes her food. I just couldn't chance getting a server like yours! Back when I was younger, I was brought to tears by a server because I was so embarrassed. I was a shy little thing as a child and would cry at the drop of a hat. Needless to say, I haven't been there since! Maybe when our DD is a bit older we'll go try it out.

They probably sense if you are not in the mood for too much attention, but even so you are probably right not to risk it! Our server was on fire that night!!

Loving your reviews! We loved 50s PT last visit. Our favorites were the pot roast and fried chicken! Gotta love it! Glad you had a great waitress that can make or break the whole meal. :thumbsup2

She was brilliant! As was that chicken . . . mmmmmm

Must. Have. Chocolate. Covered. Twinkie. :worship:

Maria :upsidedow

You have to get along to Celebration then! They had several different varieties, and only 3 miles from Disney!

That pretzel looks sad. No salt, no yellow mustard...no wonder you didn't like it!!!

Oh no, ameuteurs! Were we supposed to have stuff on it?!

I need to get me a chocolate covered Twinkie! Who invented such perfection????

I am sensing this is the wrong place to admit that I dont like Twinkies . . .

A chocolate covered Twinkie is called a chocodile. According to wikipedia, Hostess still sells them on the west coast. I remember them from when I was a kid but had no idea they were still sold anywhere.

They can be ordered online :goodvibes

I can sense a box is already on its way to the Uk if Tony has read this!!

Your DH's reaction to the twinkie was adorable - and I am so happy your finally got to use your viewmaster!

Thanks, again, for taking the time to write this - can't wait for more!

Thank you! Little things please us 2 :rotfl:

I liked the meat at O'hanas, it was some of the best all trip, so moist and tasty!
Shame about the service in there.:scared1: And Sonya didn't mention at the end that the waiter came storming after us as WE had signed the wrong receipts for the bill. I followed his instructions, yet he made us do it all again on the spot! We felt like criminals!

Man I am hungry after looking at this food again. The caramel Ghiradellis - :worship::love:

Oh yes I forgot the waiter, he was really rude at the end. Literally chased us through the restaurant becuase I had taken the wrong copy of the check!

All caught up again! I've been in crazy preparation mode for our trip which we begin driving in 36 HOURS!!!!!!!! Great reviews, especially happy to hear the meat at 'Ohana was good. DH loves his meat!

I'm going to have to catch up again when we get back. I'll look forward to comparing your notes on 1900 to ours.

Woo hoo! Have a great trip!!!!! Can't wait to hear what you think of all the restaurants!

Chocolate covered twinkies. Who knew. I wanted to try 50's PrimeTime but the kids want to try Sci-fi so maybe next year.

I am torn as well. really enjoy 50's, but feel I must try other places as well!!

My last meal at 50's Prime Time was actually at the Tune In Lounge, as I was dining solo. They served me at the bar, and I had the fried chicken and s'mores. Good times. :goodvibes I'm glad it was a winner!

That chicken was so good!!

Wow, that poor slipper really didn't stand a chance :rotfl: So sweet of Tony to order it for you and so not good of the waiter to just drop it off like that

Sorry to hear the tonga toast doesn't agree with you. My DH makes it for me for my birthday every year and I love it but don't think I could eat more often than once a year :goodvibes

I don't like to leave food to suffer . . . I like to get the job done!!!

Ah that is so sweet of your husband! Its our anniversary tomorrow, so I am planning on making Tony cinammon muffins for breakfast!

your review of 50's Prime Time has me a little nervous!!! I'm so excited to try the food, but at the same time, DH & I do not like to be the center of attention. If someone has either one of us do something like stand against a wall or sing I'm a Little Teapot, we're probably going to freak...I hope I get a quiet server...lol

It seems to very much depend on who you get - she was definitely the most "vibrant" server in the place that night!! I'm sure they pick up on it if you want to be left alone though! When we went to WCC last year we really weren't in the mood for it, and they left us alone!

Wow!!
I just spent a long weekend in London and one in Paris (DLRP that is, :lmao:) and your trip report has grown big time!!!!
Thank you so much for your wonderful reviews - we want to try Cookes of Dublin and I will stay away from the sausages - don't think I want to repeat your experience. :scared1:
Did you get to try WPE Creme Brulee in the end? Their cookies are nice but nothing special, but the Creme Brulee never disappointed me! Well, if you didn't try it there is always next time! ;)
Your choices at CG are a lot like mine - it is such a shame the flatbreads weren't back when you visited - these are devine too, another reason to go back?
And I can SO second your comments about Ohana's breadpudding. I hated the one at Raglan Road but Ohana's is to die for!!!
Can't wait for more reviews, especially because we are going to some of the same restaurants during our summer trip! :goodvibes

Oh we are loking at going to DLP for my birthday - its January though so I am really worried about rubbish weather! What di you think of it?

We didn't get back to WGP sadly, so next time I will definitelyhave to try it!

Great update! The food at 1900 PF looks great, very pretty slipper even if it was early. :(

How much did you have to pay for it? I really want to order it in advance for our GF Cafe lunch on our wedding planning day.

I CANNOT wait for the next update!! Boma AND Earl - MMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmm! They are two of hte meals I'm most excited for on my trip! (Yes, I love sandwiches THAT much!)

You are going to LOVE the Earl!!!! So good!!

I think the slipper was $15, and the castle one is $25.

We have Boma breakfast AND dinner coming!

That oatmeal ice cream sandwich looks sooo GOOD! I had the one with the chocolate chip cookies but YUM oatmeal!

I am so sorry your suprise dessert was delivered in such a way! But how fun that your sweet DH took your hint and ran with it and that it was so yummy!!

Sometimes being subtle pays off . . .!!

I've never tried one of those oatmeal cookie ice cream sandwiches!! They look awesome! Something new to look forward to on our next trip!! Yay! The bundt cake looked good too! Oh great, now I think I'll have to have one of each!

I agree with you about the Tonga Toast. It's a little rough on the stomach!

Oh you would both LOVE the cookie sandwiches! Make sure you put them on your plans next time!!

Those Peco's Bills burgers looked fabulous.:lovestruc

The slipper cake was beautiful. I'm glad you enjoyed it in spite of the waiter's lack of consideration.

They were so good! Pretty hard to see where the burger ends and the fixings bar begins in our pictures though!! We were a little out of control with the cheese!

Wow, that ice cream cookie sandwich looked fantastic! Loving your reviews....keep 'em coming!

It was so good!:thumbsup2

That tonga toast looks like something my dh would love, me I'll go for the bunt cake, that looks so yummy. I wish they served the slipper somewhere other than the GF restaurants I would love to get my dd one for her birthday but we won't be eating there this trip. Boo hoo!

I don't see why they can't do them at all the other monorail resorts! Would make planning so much easier!

I am seriously a fan of your TRs! You're going to have to win the lottery so you can go more often and write more of them! :goodvibes

Ah thank you!! And I wish I could!! i woul;d buy me a nice room at the Contemporary and eat my way around the World!

Great job, love the reviews :thumbsup2

Thanks!!!!:goodvibes

Should get another update up tomorrow!

We were too busy running!!!!!!
No 50's PTC is the only place I have ever had s'mores, so I'm not sure how authentic they are!:confused3

For the most authentic S'Mores in Walt Disney World you should go to Chip 'n Dales Campfire Sing along in the Fort Wilderness Campground.

They have a couple campfires, Chip 'n Dale come around and they sing some songs and then when it gets dark they show a movie. They sell everything you need, graham crackers, marshmallows, Hershey's chocolate bars and even the sticks.

Here is a picture of my kids roasting their marshmallows.

Sorry to Hijack your thread. . .

Those burgers look delicious, and I LOVE that you put cheese on the fries. I might have to do that when I go down...

:thumbsup2

I think that was so nice of your DH to order the slipper for you... Too bad the waiter ruined it. It looks so nice and yummy... Keep up the excellent report. I love all the pictures.

Thanks again for your time, I love it

Thursday 7th May

I fear I may have built your hopes up and promised you a non-POFQ breakfast today?! Well I was wrong! BUT, it is our last one for a few days! So hold on, there is hope!:goodvibes

However on this day we did yet again stick with the food court, this time sampling Special K and sharing a blueberry muffin. I don’t remember the muffin very well at all, but I have given it 9/10 and a “very moist” comment, and Tony gave it 8/10, so must have been OK!!

P1020572.jpg

Mid-morning we were in MK, and decided to have a pretzel – we have NEVER had a fresh pretzel before! Hmmmm, kind of like eating a lump of bread! Filling and stodgy, but not exactly exciting!!!!! We both gave it 5/10.

P1020607.jpg

Now we decided to spend the afternoon in the town of Celebration as we had never been there, and after reading a couple of good food comments on a UK trip report we knew we wanted lunch at Market St Café. The menu is huge and full of things we like! We had to wait about 15 mins for a table then in we went! It’s pretty large inside, and the service was OK – a little slow, but she was friendly enough!

Now for some reason, after months of eyeballing all the lovely sandwiches on the online menu, I decided to go for the Greek salad?! Sometime the crazy just strikes me. :crazy2:This was OK – huge portion (though a little bit mean on the feta cheese I thought) and the dressing was a bit on the sharp side for me. I’d give it 7/10. Tony went for a chicken salad sandwich – he didn’t enjoy it very much, mainly because there was fruit (craisins) mashed in with the chicken!!!. He only gave it 6/10. It was a little like that scene out of Friends, when Joey asks what all that “red fruit cr*p” is doing on his cheesecake – Tony was not happy! :rotfl:

Dessert was VERY good! We went for the coconut cream pie, and really regretted sharing! The pastry was lovely and crumbly, and there was absolutely loads of coconut cream which was really thick and yummy. We both give this 9/10. I would go here again, as there is so much on the menu I want to try. Maybe if we go next Christmas we could have dinner here before watching the “snow” fall!

Coconut cream pie
P1020622.jpg

On the way back to the car Tony stopped at Kilwins Chocolate and Ice-cream shop – there was loads of really good looking ice-cream which almost made me regret the dessert we had just had! Tony just got a chocolate covered twinkie, and ate it the next day – “well it was refrigerated so not the best, but I will give it 9/10 as it was a stunning idea! Will buy another one when we go back, and have it at room temperature!”
P1020834.jpg

And this is nothing to do with food, but we were having a little after-lunch nap in the big rocking chairs around the lake, and we saw a ‘gator!!!!!! No one believes us, but we did!!! :scared1:

So, on to one we had really been looking forward to this evening – 50’s Prime Time Café – one of our absolute favourite meals last year.
P1020632.jpg

We only had to wait a couple of minutes for our table (a VAST improvement on last years 30 minutes), and got taken to a room at the back of the restaurant with just 3 other tables. Our sever was already in there . . . well right away we knew we were in for a night of it as she was busy telling someone off! Once she had finished we had to introduce ourselves to the rest of the room, after we had done this she then went back to this poor man! I can’t remember what he did but she made him stand against the wall for a while. Then before he was allowed to sit down again he was made to do the “I’m a teapot” song, with actions. Honestly she terrorised this man all night! It was SO funny! She was hilarious with all of us, but this poor man got most of the flack. It was most enjoyable!!!! She really made the meal to be honest – I thought last years server was good but she knocked her out of the park! Never have I been so terrified in case an elbow inadvertently touched the table though!

So onto the meal. Utter devastation ripped through my body when I discovered the fried herb cheese had been removed from the menu (why would they do that, why WHY?? :confused3), as I result I sulked and refused to have an appetiser!

Instead I ordered Mums Old Fashioned Pot Roast (slow cooked til fork tender, served with mashed potatoes, celery and onions), which Tony had last year and highly recommended to me.

Pot roast
P1020636.jpg

Tony went for Aunt Liz’s Golden Fried Chicken (served with mask potato, chicken gravy and southern greens).

Chicken
P1020637.jpg

Mine was pretty good – absolutely loads of meat, and the mash was good and creamy. What let it down was the veg - they were really over cooked and dry – they were like paper. However I ate them all as I had one thing on my mind this year – a clean plate sticker.

And lookey what we have here!!!! You knew I could do it!
P1020640.jpg

While this wasn’t quite as good as Tony’s Pot Roast last year, that is only due to the wrinkled up veg, so I would still recommend it for the rest of the meal – it gets 8/10. Yet again though, I ended up for the 2nd year running drooling over Tony’s plate! He gave me a piece of his chicken and I LOVED it. I should say that I love friend chicken at home, but my only experience of it in the US was a vile KFC last year, so I didn’t order it based on that. Well I wish I had! Really hot, fresh and crunchy! Tony gave it 8/10 and said it was good but a little greasy.

I was very excited to get to "use" the dessert menu this year, unlike last year!
P1020638.jpg

On to desserts – I knew what I was having – the S’mores. Ohh perfection on a plate. Sickly perfection, but perfection all the same. These were excellent and get 9/10 – what more do you need than cracker, chocolate and marshmallow all melted together?! Why we don’t make these in the UK is beyond me!

P1020644.jpg

Now I had a moment of greediness here (just the one Sonya?!) – I also ordered the peanut butter and jelly milkshake I had heard about . . . then I remembered Eeyore’s Tailfinders reviews from a couple of months ago, where she also ordered this and it sent her over the edge and she had to rush out of the restaurant or risk being unwell . . . well the s’mores were really sickly and I got a bit panicky about also being unwell. So I must confess I hardly drunk any of this – what I tried was good, just like drinking a snickers, which can never be wrong!

PB& Jelly - very thick!
P1020643.jpg

Tony went for a strawberry milkshake, which was really good and fresh. He also ordered the Dads Brownie Sundae – brownie with vanilla ice-cream, hot fudge, and caramel topping – he loved it and gave it 9/10. I would like to comment but he didn’t let me have any of it!!!! Our server didn’t charge us for the milkshakes, bless her, she was so nice (though a tad scary!). She did bring the check with the desserts which annoys me a bit (makes me feel very rushed!) but I forgive her!

Dads brownie
P1020641.jpg

All in all it was a very enjoyable night, with consistently good food. I would eat here again definitely, however want to try Sci-Fi or Brown Derby next year, so will probably give it a miss for a year.

Coming up is Captain Cookes, Peco Bills, 1900 Park Faire, and Main St bakery!

Hey! I'm sorry to admit that none of us liked twinkies!!! So I dont think I would go for a choccie one!!!:rotfl: everything else looks fabby though!:thumbsup2

Starting to catch up again. I had to tell you that we enjoy 1900 PF too and ordered the slippe as well. We were there celebrating my b-day a month after it passed, but I ordered it with my DD's name on it (like you said you can;t order it for yourself LOL) since she had her hair done that day at BBB and it was a special day for her (well all the days were really, LOL). They brought it to our table while she was out dancing with the stepsisters and I was taking photos of her, and DH was at the buffet, and they placed it in front of my chair, and not hers. So the surprise and thrill was totally gone. I was really dissapointed as well. I guess someone needs to teach the waiters there about presentaion. It was so good though. I ate one rasberry and then Claire tried one and took the rest before we could blink. LOL! She really didn't care too much about the rest as she was full, but DH and I were practically knocking each others hands away to eat it all. And we used bad manners and even used our fingers to get the sauce off the plate. :rotfl2: Then I went up to the buffet and got dessert too. ;)

I forgot to add no wonder you didn't like that nasty pretzel it doesn't have salt or yellow mustard. :confused3 Without those it isn't really a hot pretzel.

I was ready for a virtual antacid after I saw what you ate on the day beginning with Tonga Toast! :scared1: Seriously, if I had the Tonga Toast, the gut busting burger at Pecos Bill's, the ice cream sandwich (mine would be chocolate chip btw), and the dinner at 1900 Park Fair, I'd be groaning with discomfort. I don't know how you do it!

As for Pecos Bill's, I always put the liquid fake cheese in those little convenience cups (usually used for ketchup or other condiments) in order to dip the fries. I couldn't order a double cheeseburger, though. I am a big girl, but I can't put that away!

And I'm with you on those mashed potatoes, doll. Those are one of my downfalls. That and chocolate. :)

Yeah the pretzel you didn't have any salt! that wouldn't have tasted that nice!

At MGM/whatever studios they sell a spicy cheese filled pretzel! Now that is something I definitiely have my eye on!

I love your reports, really enjoyed the last one too! The amount of food you eat is truly amazing! I'm on a mega holiday diet and so when sept comes disney won't know whats hit em! I may take your gluttony crown!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: You should have, it would have been HILARIOUS:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I was picturing that in my head as well when I read that. :rotfl2:

oh goodness ... so sorry to hear that Goofy's has lost some of its magic without the Reeces Cups. That's a shame.

Thanks for the great review of TRex. We are trying to sneak that into our upcoming trip. I think it's a *must do* now that I've seen your fab drinks/meals. That burger is insanely huge! :scared1:

I think I'm spoiled for all other Key Lime Pies now that I've had the Blonde Giraffe Frozen KLP on a stick! LOL! That stuff was heavenly! Sorry yours didn't measure up... Key Lime Mousse does not sound *right*

Looking forward to your next installments. I love reading your foodie reports!

Hmmm where do you find a blonde giraffe frozen? I never heard of this before and it's my mission to find out every possible desert beforehand. :woohoo:

On to dinner – and I had been waiting for this one!! Our first trip to California Grill! We had a 7.30 ADR which I was hoping we could stretch out to Wishes at 9pm! Arrived at 7.30 and were told there would be a bit of a wait, so we went to the bar. I was pleased about the wait as it would help us get nearer to Wishes. Well no sooner had the drinks arrived than our buzzer went! Now I was praying for a table that overlooked MK but I hadn’t requested anything in particular – I like to leave it to fate. So we are walking through the restaurant and there was a table for 4 free, overlooking MK . . . well no way would we be lucky enough for a large table and a view I thought . . . well DING DONG that’s where she led us! I was so excited! I spent about 10 minutes explaining in great detail to poor Tony how incredibly lucky we were :rotfl2:! I was a little surprised by the inside of the restaurant – I had thought this would be a quiet, intimate place – instead it was massive, brightly lit, and as loud as any other Disney restaurant! This didn’t affect us though, and my photo taking was definitely less obvious than I had thought it was going to be!

This was our view!
[
We had a very nice server – not overly chatty, but very efficient and polite. First she brought out some soda bread which was gorgeous – really soft and warm. Loved it!

Now believe it or not I really had to force Tony into an appetiser; there was nothing he liked the sound of, but I really wanted a long, relaxing night here so in the end he said he would try something. He went for the duck confit and he LOVED it – he said it was really tender and tasty. I tried a bit and it was good. He gives it 9/10. I can't find a description for it online, but I know it had pasta with it as well. I went for the spring vegetable salad as it included goat’s cheese and asparagus – two of my favourite things. That was also very nice; - the dressing was superb - though I could have done with a tiny bit more goat’s cheese – another 9/10.

For entrée Tony went for the filet steak, with mash and asparagus (I mentioned before we are not that much into steak, but my one at Le Cellier yesterday, which he had deemed the world’s best steak, had wetted his appetite for it). Well, move over Le Cellier, because he now rates THIS as the “world best steak ever! Moist, tender and tasty”, and a resounding 10/10! He even loved the asparagus, and he will never eat that at home :sad2:
[
I went for the pork tenderloin, served with mash and button mushrooms. To be honest when it first came the portion looked a bit small – but there was loads of meat once I got going and I couldn’t even finish it all! The pork was really moist and tasty, and the mash was excellent. I give this 9/10.

Now before we went away I had decided I wanted to arrange a surprise for Tony . . . and with us two it had to be food! So I arranged a cake to be brought out (chocolate frosting and chocolate filling!!). I couldn’t think of a message, so I just signed it from our dogs (I thought this might reduce him to a flood of tears, but no such luck!!). At this point the server brought it out! We just shared a slice and asked for the rest to be boxed up. It was nice enough – I was hoping it would be like our wedding cake which was the moistest cake EVER! It wasn’t quite that good, but was OK, and Tony tucked in to it in the room over the next couple of days.

The server probably thought we wouldn’t want dessert after that :rolleyes1but we soon explained we weren’t amateur eaters and so the menus appeared! I knew what I was going for “The Original” – (Butterscotch crème brulee with a duo of banana cakes and caramelised bananas). Tony had “Sweet Celebration” – Cashew nut dacquoise cake with roasted with poached pears, berries, lychee cream and ginger caramel ice cream

Sweet Celebration
Mine came with two banana breads which were good – very moist and bananary! One was chocolately which was good, but I actually preferred the plainer one. The crème brulee was Ok . . . whilst there was nothing wrong with it, it didn’t knock me off my feet with joy. I gave this 8/10 as there was nothing wrong with it, but I probably wouldn’t order it again to be honest. Tony gave his 8/10, and again said it was good, but he wouldn’t have it again. As we were eating them, Wishes came on, so it was perfect!

We both give the meal 9/10 as a whole. This was our first “signature” meal, and we were very impressed. I would happily come here again, but equally may try one of the other signature restaurants instead next year instead!

Up next . . . Port Orleans breakfast AGAIN, Wolf Gang Puck Express lunch, Ohanas dinner, and a few snacks!

Everything looks delicious at Cali Grill. I've never eaten there before. We made our signature restaurant at Yachtsman, but I adore Pork and your meal looks fantastic.

Sorry again about the delays, this has just been a manic week at work! Will answer all your kind posts tomorrow! For now, on with the show!!

Well here we were, awake, and would you believe hungry again?!!!! :lmao:

We were going to try Earl of Sandwiches breakfast this morning, but, well to be honest, couldn't be bothered – a sandwich just never feels that appealing first thing in the morning! So food court at POFQ it was again!!! Tony had pancakes which he gives 9/10 to as they were very fresh. I had waffles with raspberries, which again was very light and fresh - another 9/10! I just love these things -can't believe I had never had one before this visit!

Mid-morning was one of our favourite treats in the universe! Water park mini-donuts (Blizzard Beach this year)! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm-liscious! We got 6 to share, and the best news of all was the cinnamon sugar was back on the menu this year. These are SO good. Is anything better when you are starving than hot, fresh donuts?! I give these 10/10, Tony gives them 8 (he was really grumpy at this point which I feel affected his judgment!).

Off to a new place to us for lunch – Wolfgang Puck Express. I have been dying to go here after seeing several excellent reviews. Huge menu to pick from which was good! I was surprised by how empty the place was – it was about 1.30pm and there were only two other tables occupied! The staff here were all really friendly and helpful. You order at the counter, and then (although it’s counter-service) someone else brings you cutlery, your meal, and re-fills your drinks.

We decided to share two pizzas - Pepperoni and Mushroom (mozzarella and Grana Padano Paremesan with tomato-basil garlic sauce) and Four Cheese Pesto (creamy goat cheese, mozzarella, fontina and Parmesan with Roma tomatoes, fresh basil, garlic-basil pesto sauce and sun dried tomatoes). Tony picked a cookie for dessert, and I went for a brownie (I had been planning on trying one of their famous – thanks to Dizneeat! – crème brulees, but I couldn’t face it after the two not-so-good ones I had already had this trip.

I really, really enjoyed these pizzas. They were good sizes, and the ingredients were really fresh. The bases were crisp and light as well. The cheese pizza had so much lovely pesto on it! I preferred the pepperoni one but it was close! Pepperoni and mushroom gets 9/10, and Four Cheese gets 8/10. I didn’t eat the brownie straight away – I think I had half of it the next day. It was OK, fairly moist but not the best I’ve ever had. Tony really liked the pepperoni one and gave it 9/10; he wasn’t quite so keen on the cheese and gave it 7. He said the cookie was just average and gave it 7/10.

Brownie and cookie

On to dessert at our favourite – Ghirardelli’s!!! We decided to just share one again – such self control! – and after about a 20 minute debate finally settled on the Warm Caramel Sundae - Two scoops of premium vanilla ice cream layered with warm Ghirardelli creamy caramel and topped with whipped cream, chopped almonds, a cherry and our famous chocolate with caramel square. This was SOOOOOOOO good. Ooey gooey caramel sauce all melting over creamy ice-cream. Our only complaint was they were a little light handed when service the actual caramel sauce – we needed more of the good stuff! I was 9/10 and Tony was 9.5/10.

Dinner was at Ohanas – somewhere else we have never been. I have wanted to go here for ages, but had to beg and plead to get Tony to agree. Let me start by explaining – he doesn’t like turkey, not keen on steak, broccoli is dull, wings are only OK etc - all I could do was promise him that if he came out hungry we could head straight off to Pop Century for a chilli cheese dog;). This was finally enough to get him to let me make an ADR (I was always going to make one this year, but it was so much easier to get him to drive us there this way!!).:rotfl:

We had to wait about 20 minutes for our table, which gave me the change to try something I have been drooling over for ages – a Lapu Lapu – tropical fruit juice, dark rum and Bacardi all served in a pineapple. Call me a lightweight but this was way too strong for me. I only had half of it and could barely walk straight when we finally got called to our table!

The first food to arrive was the salad (Mixed greens with a honey-lime dressing)– is it wrong that we really loved the salad?! The dressing was so good! We cleaned the bowl out!

Next was the bread – I thought it was supposed to be pineapple flavoured, but I couldn’t taste any – it was nice though!

Bread and salad

Next were the Honey-Coriander Chicken Wings – proper wings with BONES in – woo hoo! These were really tender – I prefer hot wings, but these were good.

Then we had the pork dumplings with three dipping sauces – one was hot, one was peanut – I don’t remember the third sauce but we enjoyed them all, especially the hot one. I confess I had never had pork dumplings before and I absolutely loved these – could have eaten another plateful.

Then we had broccoli – not much to say about broccoli. I think we had a floret each to try claim we had at least had one vitamin today!

The noodles then arrived – I have heard great things about the Ohana potatoes, and wish I had managed to try them, but to be honest really enjoyed the noodles. I love noodles at the best of time, and these were really well flavoured, and because they are lighter than potatoes I think it helped me manage to eat a lot more!!!!

Then the meat started arriving! We said we didn’t want shrimp (we don't like any shellfish), which seemed to surprise them. We were actually going to try it, until we saw you had to peel your own – YUCK! I can’t be spending my night pulling little corpses apart!

The grilled Pork Loin was really good and moist, as was the Grilled Tenderloin of Turkey. The Sirloin Steak was lovely as well – the grill gave all the meats a lovely smoky flavour and kept it all really tender. I have just noticed Hawaiian Sausage on the menu, but I don’t think we got any of that. I had really enjoyed everything we had had so far . . . so what of Tony who didn’t want to come? He LOVED it – even the turkey which he always claims to hate! He ate everything that came (including the wings, much to my annoyance!).

Steak

Turkey and pork (pork on the left)

Still to come was dessert - Ohana bread pudding served a la mode with Bananas and Caramel Sauce. I hate bread pudding – even the one at Raglan Road which people seem to rave about tasted grim to me last year. Well it was a night for surprises because I just ADORED this – the best part of the whole meal! Really sweet, light, with lovely sauce, and really good with the ice-cream. I give the pudding 10/10, and the rest of the meal 8.5/10. Much better than I was expecting, and would definitely return. Tony says the meat was good, and tender, and the dessert was very light. He gave it all 8/10 which is very good when you think of how negatively he went into the meal!

My only complaints about this night were the speed the food comes out. We were in and out in an hour! It’s certainly not relaxing. And talking of not relaxing, the “entertainment” left something to be desired! If that woman with her little guitar thing (ukulele?) had wondered past screeching just one more time I think I would have lobbed my lovely bread pudding at her! :rotfl:

Coming next . . . Captain Cookes, Market St Café in Celebration, 50’s Prime Time Café.

I'm definately going to check out WGP, I've read a couple great reviews from them.

We also have O'Hana on our list for the first time. I probably won't mind being rushed that night, simply because we have a res for 5:00 and are going to MNSSHP that night so we don't want to be too late for that. Otherwise, I agree, I dislike being rushed while eating. It's a personal pet peeve.

Did you happen to notice if they had anything going on with the kids there? I've read that they interact with the children (cococut rolling races and the such), and we are going with 4 kids, celebrating a birthday for one, so I was hoping this would happen.

Mid-morning we were in MK, and decided to have a pretzel – we have NEVER had a fresh pretzel before! Hmmmm, kind of like eating a lump of bread! Filling and stodgy, but not exactly exciting!!!!! We both gave it 5/10.

:rotfl:

Salad

Dessert was VERY good! We went for the coconut cream pie, and really regretted sharing! The pastry was lovely and crumbly, and there was absolutely loads of coconut cream which was really thick and yummy. We both give this 9/10. I would go here again, as there is so much on the menu I want to try. Maybe if we go next Christmas we could have dinner here before watching the “snow” fall!

Coconut cream pie

On the way back to the car Tony stopped at Kilwins Chocolate and Ice-cream shop – there was loads of really good looking ice-cream which almost made me regret the dessert we had just had! Tony just got a chocolate covered twinkie, and ate it the next day – “well it was refrigerated so not the best, but I will give it 9/10 as it was a stunning idea! Will buy another one when we go back, and have it at room temperature!”
[And this is nothing to do with food, but we were having a little after-lunch nap in the big rocking chairs around the lake, and we saw a ‘gator!!!!!! No one believes us, but we did!!! :scared1:

So, on to one we had really been looking forward to this evening – 50’s Prime Time Café – one of our absolute favourite meals last year.

Pot roast
Tony went for Aunt Liz’s Golden Fried Chicken (served with mask potato, chicken gravy and southern greens).

Chicken
[
Mine was pretty good – absolutely loads of meat, and the mash was good and creamy. What let it down was the veg - they were really over cooked and dry – they were like paper. However I ate them all as I had one thing on my mind this year – a clean plate sticker.

And lookey what we have here!!!! You knew I could do it!
[While this wasn’t quite as good as Tony’s Pot Roast last year, that is only due to the wrinkled up veg, so I would still recommend it for the rest of the meal – it gets 8/10.

[
On to desserts – I knew what I was having – the S’mores. Ohh perfection on a plate. Sickly perfection, but perfection all the same. These were excellent and get 9/10 – what more do you need than cracker, chocolate and marshmallow all melted together?! Why we don’t make these in the UK is beyond me!

[IMGNow I had a moment of greediness here (just the one Sonya?!) – I also ordered the peanut butter and jelly milkshake I had heard about . . . then I remembered Eeyore’s Tailfinders reviews from a couple of months ago, where she also ordered this and it sent her over the edge and she had to rush out of the restaurant or risk being unwell . . . well the s’mores were really sickly and I got a bit panicky about also being unwell. So I must confess I hardly drunk any of this – what I tried was good, just like drinking a snickers, which can never be wrong!

PB& Jelly - very thick!
[Tony went for a strawberry milkshake, which was really good and fresh.

[All in all it was a very enjoyable night, with consistently good food. I would eat here again definitely, however want to try Sci-Fi or Brown Derby next year, so will probably give it a miss for a year.

Coming up is Captain Cookes, Peco Bills, 1900 Park Faire, and Main St bakery!

We also have 50's prime time on our reservation list. I hope that they don't single out DH like that, he will not appreciate that at all. Myself, and my girls would have a much better sense of humour, but DH does not like that kind of thing! I'm trying to decide what I am going to get....the pot roast or the chicken...they both look delish!

Great reviews so far! I've enjoyed reading them.

I can't believe I came so late to the party! You have a great report going, and I cannot wait until you get to the cruise food. I am anxious to hear about the new menus! Thanks for writing! popcorn::

 Sonya - I've been out of town, and I'm behind in your reviews - but I do chuckle at your posts!!

At 1900 Park Fare, did you not try the Strawberry Soup???? Surely you just forgot to take a picture of it!! IF you missed the soup - next time, you must go back just for the soup!!

the small fresh mozerrella and tomato salad - the "brown" stuff, OH my, its my personal favorite - Balsamic Vinegar!! I LOVE that stuff, but it did take some getting used to the color! The flavor makes up for it for me!!

ITA with the "nasty pretzel" remark - I do like them dipped in the melty yellow cheese, but I hate mustard!!

Sorry for the delay! With our anniversary and then Fathers day it has been a busy weekend! Let’s get on with the foody show!

At last – after missing it last year, and last week, at last it was chance to try a Boma breakfast! I had heard SO many good things about this place!

We got seated pretty much straight away – our ADR was 7.50am and the restaurant was half empty at that time. We started with a glass of the lovely fruit juice – jungle juice I think it was called. This was a mixture of juices and was really good!

My first plate was ham – which was really tender. Bacon – fatty and greasy (this was the point I swore never to eat bacon again!). Potatoes, which were just Ok, a proper, fat pork sausage, and goats cheese scramble eggs which was excellent – I don’t usually go for eggs, but adore goats cheese and this was really fresh and well cooked.

P1020807.jpg

Tony started with a plate of fruit, which was very fresh and a good choice.

Sorry this is a really bad picture!
P1020806.jpg

I then had a bowl of oatmeal – we have something similar in the UK called porridge which I love, so I was keen to try this. Unfortunately – as you can see- I put on way too much cinnamon and ruined it. Frankly I put myself off it for life and haven’t had any since we have been home either!!! I only had a couple of spoonfuls – the bits I could taste without the cinnamon overload were nice though – very creamy!

P1020810.jpg

Tony then moved onto toast, scrambled egg, potato, cornbread muffin and sausage, which was all nice.

P1020809.jpg

I then decided to have myself a bit of a carb party, so to go with my lovely fresh fruit I had cornbread – which was divine and super moist; a macadamia nut muffin which was moist and tasty; a chocolate croissant which was really fresh; some banana bread which was average, and a sticky bun which was a tiny but dry but OK. A really good plate, which sent me back to the hotel for a sugar-crash nap before we could go out again!!

P1020811.jpg

Tony also had a plate of cake – chocolate croissant, and three sorts of muffins, all of which got a thumbs up!

P1020812.jpg

We both give this 8/10. The food was mostly really good, but we probably wouldn’t go back. We’re just not that into buffet breakfasts anymore, mainly because we don’t like to miss lunch!!! If you like a buffet breakfast though you can’t go wrong with this one – lots of choice, and everything really fresh. Definitely as good as I had been led to believe.

Lunch we ended up at our old favourite again – The Earl! And – try and contain your shock – we both went for something we hadn’t tried before!!! Tony went for Cannonballs (meatballs, marinara sauce, mozzarella and parmesan) and I went for the Tuna Melt (tuna salad and swiss cheese). We also had our usual potato chips and brownie (are we like the dullest people on earth?!). Tony gave his 8/10 and said it was really tasty. I also give mine 8/10 – it was all very good, but when all’s said and done it was JUST a tuna sandwich – there’s not really much can be done to spice that up, even if it was in that divine bread! Nothing wrong with this at all, but nothing so special that it would make me order it again. I think I have tuna too much at home to really appreciate it when I am away!

Cannonballs

Tuna Melt

P1020822.jpg

The brownie was excellent – the freshest so far. So crumbly and gooey!

During that afternoon I picked up another magic cookie bar, and we ate that over the next few of afternoons. Really good, and all the better once it had been refrigerated.

P1020833.jpg

Dinner – a new one for us, and one I could not wait to try – The Wave at the Contemporary!! I had been dying to go here since I saw they have lamb shank on the menu which I adore – I never get to have lamb at home as Tony doesn’t like it.

P1020842.jpg

We had to wait about 15 minutes past our ADR time (8pm) to be seated – the lounge area is very nice – very dark and exotically blue.

I went for my much anticipated braised lamb shank, with bulger wheat lentil stew and red wine sauce, and Tony went for braised chicken pot pie, with peas, mushrooms and carrots topped with thyme pastry. While waiting for that we were served some very nice, fresh bread.

P1020843.jpg

The lamb was gorgeous – tender and literally fell off the bone. There was loads of meat as well, which I liked! Being perfectly honest I would have liked this with potatoes – nothing wrong with the stew and it was a nice change, bit deep down I am a “splodge of mash” kind of girl! The whole meal was a pretty big portion – no complaints from me there! I give it 9/10.

P1020848.jpg

Tony gave his chicken pie 8/10, and says he wished it had been a proper pie, all cooked together, rather than a chicken casserole with a pastry lid added on after. It tasted good though!

P1020847.jpg

We both had the same dessert (we didn’t share!!), the Creamy Indulgence trio – cheesecake with raspberry coulis, coconut panna cotta with passion fruit drizzle, and chocolate fruit mousse with pecan olive brittle.

P1020849.jpg

You can take the girl out of England . . .
P1020850.jpg

The cheesecake was out of this world – unbelievable creamy and rich. I rarely order cheesecake but this has really given me the taste for it! So good! The coconut panna cotta was lovely and creamy, though I couldn’t taste much coconut disappointingly. The mousse was a little strange – it looked like chocolate, but tasted like passion fruit which threw me completely. I don’t like my chocolate being messed with! The pecan brittle part of it was lovely though!

Service here was excellent, and I would order the whole meal again definitely!

Coming up later this week . . . Pizzarafi lunch and Boma dinner!

I could play it cool and nonchalant!

But I wont as thats not me!!

      UPDATE!!

Mmmm, Bome breakfast adn the Earl both look great!!! That meatball Sub looks lush!!!

The Wave food looks out of this world too! Especially the cheesecake!! :)

Thanks so much for sharing!! V. Excited for the next insallment!

We always mean to try Boma for breakfast, but haven't made it over there in the morning yet. I'm the type that wants to be in the park at Rope Drop, yet I'm not a morning person. We usually manage to fit one character breakfast in, but that's about it.

Great update.
