Bush Daughters

It looks like all of the drinking and partying haven't affected the looks of the Bush daughters too much. I have to admit that Bush has one up on Kerry on this (and only this) issue...

sorry, edited because this is the wrong thread

but since I am here, I will agree with the previous poster. The Bush daughters are truly lovely young women.

The Bush daughters are beautiful.

That's it....end of story.....nothing more.......

Yeah, Edwards daughters REALLY look like crack*****s to me.

Bush's daughters are pretty and are apparently turning out to be well rounded young women. One is going to be a teacher and the other will be going to work with AIDS victims...I forget where, but not in the states.

Question about the Kerry girls...I know his wife was married before....are the girls hers or both of theirs? I know that for all intense purposes they are both of theirs, I'm talking biological parents. It is just curiosity on my part....I read something about there being kids from another marriage, just wasn't sure if it's them or if there are older kids also. I don't follow Kerry all that much.

Just wanted to add that I think all of Edwards kids are cute.

Those 2 girls are Kerry's with his first wife (of 18 years) and then I believe his current wife, Teresa Heinz, has a son, not sure if she has more than one?? I saw her son on the Today show.

They do not have children together. His wife is 65 and they've been married since 1995 which means no babies together.

Do people really think that Bush (or Kerry for that matter) should dictate whether his children choose to serve in the military? Military service is currently voluntary.

I'm sort of amazed that people think that a parent should be able to dictate their child's choices. I suppose Bush should have forced his daughters to go to college in DC and live in the White House so that people could think they are a close family? Then when the decisions were made about Iraq he could have marched them down to the recruiter and signed them up. I'm very surprised that people think ANY parent should be making those kinds of decisions for college aged kids.

I would think the point is that if they can decide to send my son to war, they should be willing to send their own children. It might make them work harder to find a better solution.

And I think the counter point is that they are adults and President Bush's willingness or unwillingness is not really a factor.

You are correct. And my point would have more validity if there were a draft ( which I believe there will be ). But would anyone like to take a bet on which children of the powerful will not be affected by a draft if they had one?

The fact remains that there is no draft. Those serving in the armed forces are doing so on a voluntary basis. I have the highest regard and deepest appreciation for our military, but it was their choice to join the military and they all knew that they could go to war one day. Whether I like this war on not, it does not matter, what matters is supporting the troops in any fashion I can. In our neighborhood, we take up donations for phone cards, letters, goodies and they are sent to a unit by a family whose relatives are serving. Bush does not need to send his girls over, but if they wish to serve it should be their decision.

This statement suggests that they have made a point to forbid their children from making that decision, which I have seen no evidence of. No parent really has that choice and I would guess very few parents are thrilled that their children could end up fighting a war, and being killed in the process, if they enlist in the military.

I am sorry it suggested that. Let me be prefectly clear. I am NOT saying they would forbid their own children. This is not a rep vs dem thing....none of them have kids there.

Of course no parent is thrilled...but some parents are the ones in power making these decisions. I am sorry if this seems like an off the wall idea, but I have a problem with people making decisions that affect my children while they have the power to make damned sure those decisions do not affect their own children.

edited to add a very important word with apologies

So what you're suggesting is that no one should be allowed to make that decision unless they have children serving in the military?

And how do you know he wouldn't be willing to send his own children? Do you really believe that such decisions at that level are made based on whether or not the children of the POTUS are in the military? He can't force them to join, nor can he keep them from joining if they choose to do so.

I'm sorry, but this is one of the silliest arguments I've ever heard.

I am suddenly reminded why I absolutely despise election years. :(

I agree that Bush's daughters are lovely and I am glad to see that they made it through the college years mostly out of the spotlight of their father's office.
