Bush's daughters are pretty and are apparently turning out to be well rounded young women. One is going to be a teacher and the other will be going to work with AIDS victims...I forget where, but not in the states.
Question about the Kerry girls...I know his wife was married before....are the girls hers or both of theirs? I know that for all intense purposes they are both of theirs, I'm talking biological parents. It is just curiosity on my part....I read something about there being kids from another marriage, just wasn't sure if it's them or if there are older kids also. I don't follow Kerry all that much.

Do people really think that Bush (or Kerry for that matter) should dictate whether his children choose to serve in the military? Military service is currently voluntary.
I'm sort of amazed that people think that a parent should be able to dictate their child's choices. I suppose Bush should have forced his daughters to go to college in DC and live in the White House so that people could think they are a close family? Then when the decisions were made about Iraq he could have marched them down to the recruiter and signed them up. I'm very surprised that people think ANY parent should be making those kinds of decisions for college aged kids.

And I think the counter point is that they are adults and President Bush's willingness or unwillingness is not really a factor.
This statement suggests that they have made a point to forbid their children from making that decision, which I have seen no evidence of. No parent really has that choice and I would guess very few parents are thrilled that their children could end up fighting a war, and being killed in the process, if they enlist in the military.I would think the point is that if they can decide to send my son to war, they should be willing to send their own children.

Of course no parent is thrilled...but some parents are the ones in power making these decisions. I am sorry if this seems like an off the wall idea, but I have a problem with people making decisions that affect my children while they have the power to make damned sure those decisions do not affect their own children.
