sorry typo..that should have read I am not saying they would forbid them

as to the silliest argument ...it was not an argument it was an opinion....my opinion that I personally would feel better if the people making the decisions to send my kids to war had to walk in my shoes for a day. I am not trying to convince anyone to feel the same way.

No problem on the typo, I do the same thing sometimes.

As for your second paragraph, I think you are dealing with completely unrealistic expectations. Do we limit elected office to those that have children in the military? Or do mandate that once elected, the children of those elected must enlist? It just isn't possible, and frankly, I don't think it is relevant. What you seem to be hoping for is that elected officials make decisions based on how it affects them personally, and quite frankly, I don't want people like that in elected office. They should be looking out for the best interest of the country, not the best interest of their own children when it comes to policy.

You are right of course. I am guilty of blowing off steam for personal reasons. I, of course, realize I am being unrealistic . I guess all I was really saying is that I would feel better about the whole thing if some of them, any of them, were as invested personally as they were politically. But obviously no one's aim is to make me feel better, nor should it be. So I will slink off for now.

fyi...in doing a quick search, there are 7 Senators' children in the Armed Forces, with one on active duty; Senator Tim Johnson's son has fought in Iraq.

Also the one Senator they keep showing from the Michael Moore movie who didn't get to answer Michael Moore's question has a nephew in the Armed Forces. Could be more.

Aren't the Bush girls going to appear on the cover of Vogue?

I agree with Snoopy, I always got the impression with them that, "The lights are on, but nobody is home" kind of feeling. ;)

Although they are both very pretty!:D

I get that feeling too, but not about the Bush girls... :sunny:

Well, I'm not exactly sure what you are talking about, but the theme of this thread is that the OP thinks that the Bush twins are pretty. I agree that they are attractive, but I do not see them as Rhodes Scholars.

Did you ever answer the question as to whether or not you think that they are pretty?

What in the world is deafmedic talking about? Cate Edwards is beautiful (as are the Bush twins) and Emma Claire is six years old and cute as a button. What a truly weird thing for someone to say:(

And I wasn't sure what you were talking about with your "The feeling is mutual" comment, thus the

I didn't see any question asking if the were pretty. :sunny:

I know, I thought that was really strange too. Cate Edwards has really nice hair, and her face is far from ugly.:D

Even Chelsea Clinton looks so good now with her new makeover, and she's so smart too.:D

OMG, am I the only one who read this thread and instantly realized that DeafMedic was talking about the Kerry girls? I can't believe the number of you that are tilting your head quizzically to the side and gasping, "The Edwards' Children?!?!" They're freaking babies. Of course he was talking about John Kerry's children!

Cate Edwards is 21, hardly a baby.

Yeah, but the fact he said "girls." That was my first clue...unless the three year old is out hitting the pipe with her sister..

Are we talking about this post????

Edward's girls look like crack *****s......but his son is gonna be a heartbreaker someday

Maybe I'm a little slow, but I don't see how he's talking about anyone but the Edwards children.

Of course I knew the poster was talking about Kerry's children...but why on earth should I give him or her the benefit of the doubt? It's much more fun to exploit a stupid error.

Like none of us have ever meant one thing and typed another...

If someone was not particularly interested in politics or familiar with the candidates' children and just happened onto this thread they might glance at the pics on the first page and make a statement based on that.

There is a particularly unflattering pic of the Kerry girls juxtaposed against a picture of John Edwards' son on it... and they do look like they've been rode hard and put up wet, with stringy hair, bags under their eyes, and sallow skin.

On a MB, you have the benefit of the EDIT button and the delete button. It's way more forgiving than messing up a name in a conversation.

Besides, someone calls Edwards daughters crack*****s and we're all supposed to pass it by because they obviously meant Kerry's daughters instead? Yeah, that makes it OK. How dare I exploit an error like that when I've obviously messed up names before in my lifetime! The injustice! The inhumanity!!!

The minute I saw that post, I realized how hilariously bad the comment would look right next to a picture of Edwards beautiful daughters, particularly his little baby daughter. It's still paying dividends.
