Busdriver Attacked By Guest

Next time someone asks why I choose to use my car in WDW as opposed to the buses I'll show them this!

My poor DH has to use public transport all year at home - no way would he use it in WDW. The idea of being stuffed on a full bus with the potential for dregs like this guy turning up makes a car essential for any trip imho!

This guy was unreasonable and a fool, but to assume all of WDW transportation is full of folks like this is a bit silly. We have made annual trips to WDW over the past 20 years and have never encountered anyone like this. This guy is the exception, not the rule. I know public transport is many cities can have issues with riders, but WDW is a bit different. Most people are polite and respectable.

The very fact that a stranger wants to have a picture of unknown child is weird. I would never take a picture of another child no matter how cute he is, why whould I do it? Maybe only if there is some cute interaction with characters and only if parents are OK with that, I would definitely ask first like PP did.

The bus driver did his job and protected the guest on the bus this was an islolated incident that dosn't happen all the time. Their alot of dedcated bus drivers at disney that go to work every day and go above and beyond their job. If you want to rent a car fine but you can't compare public transporton to disney transport.

We've used Disney transportation for all of our trips and have had very good experiences. We will continue to use it for future trips also. I hope that the driver has a restful time off, and is back to work soon. They deserve hazard pay!

Going back to our original topic, we too will continue to use Disney transportation. Hopefully the bus driver has recovered and is back on the job. That's what's important.

When you say, legal.. I might want to re-think that. The way laws are with perverts & child molesters, you may just qualify for that if you were caught taking pictures of baby's and children without consent.

Sorry, you are misinformed. :) When people are in public there is no expectation of privacy. Anyone could take a picture of whatever he/she wanted at Disney. The only places/people/things that would be excluded would be places/people/things a reasonable person would expect to remain private....in the bathroom, under a skirt, private areas of Disney behind the scenes, etc. Of course, there is whole separate discussion if the picture is taken for commercial purposes. :)

If you don't want to risk your child's picture being taken then don't take your child out or cover your child up completely. Those are the only ways to avoid it.

I always use the disney busses and the monorail rather than a car (it means I can have the odd glass of wine with a meal) I have never seen behaviour like this ever. The only time I saw anything unusual was on the monorail to epcot where there was me a man in the back of the car and a group of egyptian women dancing, it was wonderful because they included both me and the gentleman behind us without assuming that either one of us was perverted in any way. It is just so sad that people assume the worst in others. For these worried about strangers taking pictures of their children how do you handle the parades? If your child is sitting in the front row it is very probable they are on someone else's pictures if they take pictures and video of the parade, also what happens if your child runs infront of someone who is taking a picture?

I don't understand how you can say it is not a matter of being polite or morally correct. If I saw an adult purposely taking a picture of my child, I would tend to ask them why they just did that. I understand that there are Disney Characters in the picture as well, however it is a matter of being polite to ask, as well as morally correct. You just do not go taking obvious pictures of other's children.. When you say, legal.. I might want to re-think that. The way laws are with perverts & child molesters, you may just qualify for that if you were caught taking pictures of baby's and children without consent.

And I would ask why you wanted to know? It is legal to take pictures and I would have an issue if you came up to me with attitude.

With regards to busses - we rarely use them - in 50 plus trips. Too hard to get from one place to another and with the exception of MK it is easier to drive most places.

I just posted about this over on the Transportation board, but will post it again here:

Wow, I just showed this to my husband. We just got back from WDW late last night. That guy in the green shirt looks just like a guy we had a run in with at the bus queue one evening at Magic Kingdom. My husband swears it was him. He was trying to cut in line, but we refused to let him past. He said he had a baby and since we were just two adults he got priority boarding and we should have to wait. We told him to back off and he wasn't getting through. He tried to get in my face trying to make me back down, when both my husband and a very large man in front of us (about 6'5" and 300lbs:rotfl:) informed him that having a kid at WDW didn't make you special and sure didn't give you a front of the line pass. He finally backed off, but only after cursing out everyone around us. This happened last Tuesday night and our incident happened Sunday night. A few days later we were on another bus and heard a woman talking about the guy getting in a fight with a WDW bus driver over not be allowed on a full bus and that he had used the same arguement, that he had a child so should get priority boarding. She was on that bus when the altercation occurred and said the guy went off like a maniac and was completely in the wrong and all the driver did was protect himself. She said that he even demanded the bus driver kick off people who didn't have kids, just so he could board. He just kept insisting that people with kids got priority boarding. We told her about our guy at MK and we all wondered if it was the same idiot. Sure sounds and looks like it!

Wow that is crazy that you had a possible run in with the same guy!!
I am sooo glad that he didn't DO anything to you and your husband!
This guy obviously thinks the world owes him something since HE has a child. OMG if he said this to my husband (before we had my DS) I cant even imagine what would have happened. But it would not have been pleasant.

The best I could determine was that the guy was waiting first in "line" (or thought he was) and either (a) the bus driver told him to wait until others got off or (b) others got on before him. That's a wild guess.

I wasn't there, but did talk to a lady who was a few days after it happened. According to her and her husband the guy went off just because the driver told them there was not room on the bus for them and that another bus would be coming soon. The guy insisted that because he had a baby that he got priority seating and people without kids should be kicked off the bus and made to wait. When the driver told him that it didn't work that way and everyone had the same rights to get on the buses and another bus would be there soon, he just went off like a maniac, attacking the bus driver.

As far as throwing the baby, maybe I misunderstood her, but the lady I talked to (who again was on that bus) I believe said that the man actually threw the baby at his wife, not the driver. She said he shoved the baby into the driver's face, said they had a baby so got priority boarding, for him to kick people without kids off the bus, so they could get on. When the driver refused, the man then threw the baby at his wife and attacked the driver. I don't know where this woman was sitting on the bus, but I got the impression her and her husband were sitting close to the front and saw the whole thing up close. Funny thing is, when we were talking about it a few days after it happened, we were on an almost empty bus and were sitting very close to the front. That bus driver had to hear us talking about it, but never said a word. We were all four sort of looking at him to see if he'd say something, but he never said a word.

Agree, the only person who hints discrimination is man himself when he said driver was holding them but letting others on, how is this even possible, unless they were cutting in a first place and came to the bus from the side. This story missing something. I want official story.

If this guy was actually the same guy we had a run in with at MK two days earlier (and I truly think he is), this may be what happened. The guy at the MK bus stop was trying to cut to the front, saying that because he had a kid, they got priority and those of us without kids had to wait.

Wait a minutes, I have 2 kids. Does that mean that I had priority over this guy to get on the bus? Do I get bumped back if a family with 3 kids shows up? Well, folks, we have finally found the Disney advantage to having a large family......front of line bus passes. :lmao:

I wonder what this guy would have done if he had seen someone in a ECV or wheel chair loaded first. :scared1:

Later,
Dan

I know what a lunatic!!!:sad2:

Sounds like from the poster that also had a run in with him that this guy needs a mega dose of Xanax to stop being such high sturng loon!!!

The part where the man said "we have a baby, we should get priorities" just shocks me. Did the man want the bus driver to kick someone off the bus so they could get on? Those people who were on the bus waited for it just like the man, so why should he get treated special?

I'm almost positive this guy is the same guy we ran into at the MK bus stop two days before. My husband swears he is. Anyway, I still remember almost the exact words our guy said, "We have baby, you don't. We get on now, you wait, you no have baby. We get priority, not you. You wait. We no have to wait, not with baby".
