We just returned from WDW and "our" bus drivers have new uniforms. They don't match the busses anymore. They are grey and look a bit too "stuffy" for me. Having said that, they do look very professional. I just liked the purple pants and colorful shirts. We asked a couple of drivers about them and got mixed reviews. One gentleman said he appreciated the change, as he drove a motorcycle to work and got plenty of looks when he was in his purple pants.

I thought the new uniforms looked nice but they don't stand out like they used to. Bus drivers are the only ones to ask about transportation questions and with the purple pants you could always pick one out. Now they just sort of blend. The uniforms reminded me of some of the Tommorowland uniforms and some of the Epcot uniforms.

Yep -- I was driving the MK cast shuttle bus yesterday morning, and when I first saw the TTA area cast members waiting at the parking lot stop, I thought they were bus drivers!

We also noticed the charecter attendant uniforms changed, I don't like those either. All of the changes seem to mainstream regular style color uniforms and I liked that the CM's didn't look like employees everywhere else but had unique color/style combos it made them easier to pick out of a crowd to ask questions and get help.

I don't match my office either. I prefer it that way. ;)

:lmao:

It really doesn't bother me what the bus drivers wear. When a bus pulls up and someone is driving it, I know that's the bus driver.

PirateGirl007, I love your avatar! :)

I'm sure some bright guy in Accounting probably ran the numbers and went to the Boss saying, "Hey, we can cut the costs of unique cast member costumes if we standardize ____________'s unifoms, and can do it without significantly diminishing the guest experience!"

As your response shows, some guests' experiences have been diminished.

If one follows the logic, one could remove ALL cast member costumes and make them ALL wear grey utility uniforms. After all, it won't diminish the ride experience, right?

And to carry it to an extreme, why not remove all non-essential theming and backdrops as well? It won't diminish the ride experience, right?

It's thinking like this that takes what was the Incomparable Disney Experience and makes it "just another theme park" (JATP). :sad2:

This past May we were alone on the bus one afternoon and got to talking to the bus driver. I mentioned that I really liked the purple pants better, because they were different and more distinctive. He laughed and said "You didn't have to wear those ugly things". He said almost all of the bus drivers prefer the new uniform.

I'm going to move this to our transportation board.
