I just saw that F&W for 2010 doesn't start until Oct. 1, whereas in 2009 it started on Sept. 25th. I had already made my ressie at VWL, checking in on Sept. 25th and checking out Oct. 3rd. With the new dates, we will have a lot fewer F&W days. I had made my reservation based upon the 2009 dates, not thinking they might be different. Big bummer. I guess I'll call MS tomorrow morning and see if I can push back our ressie by a week. We have never been at WDW during F&W and I want to make sure it is going on the entire time of our trip.

I hope you can change your reservation, I'm guessing that you can.

I noticed that the Flower and garden Show ends earlier than usual this year as well. It used to run until early June, this year it ends May 16.

The same thing happend for us with the F & G in May. We added two nights on prior to our original reservation so we can at least get 2 days at Epcot.

The same thing happened to us. They changed the dates AFTER they had already published them on this year's F&W stuff (like the booklet, etc). We are leaving before it even starts now. I think I COULD switch it...but we're booked in AKV concierge, and I don't want to lose that. Soooo....:sad2: I think it stinks.

Well the especially bad thing in our case is that I turn 60 on the 27th and that is the main reason for this trip. I had plans to spend my birthday at MK and then have my birthday dinner at Cape May. But we really don't want to miss out on F&W, so if I can get the ressie changed (which I suspect I can at this early date) we'll just checkin on the 1st instead of the 25th. I'll just spend my birthday at home. Oh well, you can't have everything sometimes :sad1:.

According to the back cover of the 2009 Epcot F&W Festival Guide, the dates for 2010 are September 24 to November 7, 2010.

However, according to the official WDW website, the dates for 2010 are October 1 to November 14, 2010.

I think the website is right.

When the Epcot F&W Festival went to 45 days in 2004, it started on Friday, October 1. Each year since then, the start date shifted 1 day earlier because of the calendar (2 days in 2008 because it was a leap year). It appears that this year (2010) it will "reset" to Friday, October 1, and will probably start the cycle all over again.

9th F&W (2004) -- Friday, October 1, through Sunday, November 14, 2004
10th F&W (2005) -- Friday, September 30, through Sunday, November 13, 2007
11th F&W (2006) -- Friday, September 29, through Sunday, November 12, 2007
12th F&W (2007) -- Friday, September 28, through Sunday, November 11, 2007
13th F&W (2008) -- Friday, September 26, through Sunday, November 9, 2008
14th F&W (2009) -- Friday, September 25, through Sunday, November 8, 2009
15th F&W (2010) -- Friday, October 1, through Sunday, November 14, 2010

Yes, but it starts a LOT earlier too. I think it is all of March this year too.

Agreed, and that happens in everything. We show dogs, and dog show calendars adjust like that too.

OP back. Well I called MS and was able to change my ressie to one week later (checkin Oct. 3 instead of Sept. 25th). I didn't think there would be a problem since we haven't hit 7 months yet, but you never know. As far as my birthday we'll just "pretend" it's a week later. Plus this gives DW, DD30 and DS35 a chance to take old Dad out on his birthday (and since this is the big 60, I'm thinking some place nice).

Great as far as your new reservation goes. I can't get away for a full week for F&W, we just have that first long weekend...Friday to Monday.

Bobbi:goodvibes

Bobbi: you should be okay. DH and I go Fri to Mon or Thurs to Sun and do nothing but F & W, and have a great time. Of course we do Party for the Senses and Sweet Sundays, so that interferes with visits to the booths ;)

Wolfpack Fan: Glad you were able to switch the reservations! My BIL wore his 60th birthday button for 4 days!

UGH, I didn't realize that! Just booked our late May vacation which we always LOVE to include the F&G festival & Star Wars Weekends.

Thank you for posting this. So F&W always starts on a Friday, on Oct 1st in years where that falls on a Friday otherwise on the Friday immediately preceding Oct 1st and it runs for 45 days. Thanks!

That really ticks me off, partly because I love the F&W festival and would hate to miss any of it. After they published the dates, I really don't think they should have changed them from what was published. But, boy, am I counting my good fortune right now! I had decided to go right at the beginning of the festival which I thought was around September 25 (must have gotten that crazy idea from some festival booklet or something;)) Then, for a reason I can't remember, I pushed back my plans about a week, to arrive October 3. Whew! Now that that's the beginning of the festival, I really lucked out in my reservation planning.

Gosh... I was trying to get the end of F&W and the beginning of Christmas by going to the first party. I also get two days of for Veterens day so was planning Nov 6-14 So do you think i;ll just get the last weekend or the whole week? Anyone know when the first christmas party is?

According to touringplans the first Christmas party is on 11/8

I don't think that's official though---it's based on this year's Party schedule. So, it *could* change.

Not to change the whole topic but anyone know when the festival of the masters is in 2010? We are trying to catch F&W and the masters. We have oct.31st starting our first week and was hoping our second week we would catch the masters on the 12th and 13th of November.I know it's usually that weekend but things do change. Thanks!
