Bummer - F&W Dates For 2010

I just saw that F&W for 2010 doesn't start until Oct. 1, whereas in 2009 it started on Sept. 25th. I had already made my ressie at VWL, checking in on Sept. 25th and checking out Oct. 3rd. With the new dates, we will have a lot fewer F&W days. I had made my reservation based upon the 2009 dates, not thinking they might be different. Big bummer. I guess I'll call MS tomorrow morning and see if I can push back our ressie by a week. We have never been at WDW during F&W and I want to make sure it is going on the entire time of our trip.

Well that sucks for me. I booked at precisely 9am on my 11 mos booking window using my new resale BWV contract for Sep 26-Oct 1. Got a standard view 1bedroom too.

I'm not changing it though. Have to use 50 points by Sep 30 anyway and the rest of my reservation is at SSR (Oct 1-8).

I just hate it when Disney starts mucking about with the schedule and still requires you to book rooms a year in advance. They are even harder to predict than the weather.

Edited to add: On second thought I'm not gonna believe the website. 5 weeks before NYE this year they had no fireworks scheduled for DHS and MK closing at midnight on the 30th (no EMH). 2 weeks before, it was all back to the regular schedule. The print out schedules they gave folks at the resort and even the gates had all the times, events and closings mixed up the entire week. I don't think the mice setting the calendars over there are working on all cylinders these days.

I booked 9/25-9/30 way back at my 11 month window to get a 2 bedroom for our family and our friend's family so we would be at WDW like we are every year for the Food and Wine Fest. Now that the dates changed for F&W Fest, I just had to add two more nights in a studio for just our family so I can at least be there for one day of F&W Fest. I had to borrow most of what I had remaining for 2011 to do this.
It stinks that they changed the dates they had published.
I know life's not fair but this really hurt our plans(and points).

THANK YOU for posting the date changes! I called today to change my reservation. We want to stay the first Saturday of F&W hoping that Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is playing again (saw them the past 2 years!).

Now you've gotten me really excited. I'd LOVE to see Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. DS would be so jealous, too.

They are GREAT!! Last year we watched all 3 sets and the year before we saw 2 (had dinner inbetween). I've also seen them once with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Let's cross our fingers and toes that they are playing the first weekend again!!

I am quickly realizing that life does not plan itself 11 months in advance - making my 11-month window increasingly meaningless!!!!!!

Just checked big bad voodoo daddy's website and they will be at the fest the last weekend (Nov 12-14) instead of the first! Egads! I called quick and changed my reservation (for the 2nd time)... thought I'd mention in case anyone else was going for that exact purpose!

DH and I were just reminiscing about F&W fest. but unfortunately DS1 starts HS next year and with all AP classes we won't be taking him out of school. Then DS2 will be in HS and it'll be about 8 years until we can get back :scared1: We haven't mentioned it to DS1 because he'll be devastated when he figures it out. Teen boys and frequent food stops go hand in hand. Never seen that kid so happy!!

All this info is very useful, so thanks to all the posters! Our vacation dates are 11/7 to 11/13, which we picked because our anniversary is 11/11, but seeing how lucky we are with F&W and (hopefully) catching the beginnings of Christmas parties, it's shaping up great! :cheer2:

Question for any F&W vets....We are going Sept 26 -Oct 1. I cannot change our dates (booked a BW Grand Villa with 9 of my closest friends to celebrate my 60th birthday!!!!). Of course we have hoping to just catch a bit of the F&W festival. In the past when I have been there it seems there is a soft opening a couple of days ahead with most of the food booths open. Has this been others experience or am I wishful thinking here??!!
