Me too! And isn't Jayne a girl's name?
River was awesome.Also- I can kill you with my brain.
River was awesome.
I hope your baby feels better, but yay marathoning! Why no Buffy?I'm at home with a sick baby - you know what that means! Either an Angel or Firefly marathon will be taking place at my house!

Apart from the quotes, I noticed during the credits that the young version of Simon in the flashback was played by Zac Efron. I went back and watched that part again, but I never would have recognized him. Isn't it sad that he's probably the most widely known person to appear on that show? He did do a very good job as KidSimon, as did that little girl who played KidRiver. For the record, I haven't actually seen HSM.
You really should bring yourself to watch the rest of Firefly. "Objects in Space" is the last episode, but it's one of my favorites. One of my 14 favorites, anyway.I saw Serenity and loved it, personally, then bought Firefly on DVD. I've watched most of the episodes, but I (obviously) have a little problem saying goodbye to shows I love, so I haven't watched the last few episodes ... because then I'll never have a new episode to look forward to! Plus, I wasn't super attached to, um, a certain leaf on the wind during the movie (although I did think that leaf was funny and cute), but after seeing some of the show, I can't stand to think of what happens to that character in the movie, and the more episodes I watch, the more attached I get to the person and the sadder I become when I think of how it all ended. It's a vicious cycle.
Joss Whedon needs to stop making comics and get back to TV! In an interview, Whedon said his wife refers to his current work as his "Merry Marvel Mid-Life Crisis." I think that sums it up perfectly. And I agree with you, watching the leaf is very hard after seeing the movie, especially when the leaf is the main part of an episode. Firefly makes me so sad sometimes! But it's a happy kind of sad.Wow I never realized that! That is just.... neat!
I haven't seen any of the HSM's either, even though dd owns the first one on dvd....
This is the best thread!! Thanks for starting it!
the whole Conner/Cordy story line so that may be why Buffy will always be a bit ahead in my opinion.) I started watching from the very first air date and own all 7 seasons of Buffy and 5 seasons of Angel and both have been watched and rewatched several times. I just can't see any other show (even if it was done by Joss) coming close.
Now about Firefly.......I am not sure what this show is all about.
am I really missing out?
) I will let you know how it goes. DH is going out of town tomorrow for a week so I will need something to keep me busy in the evenings. I could catch up on house work.........nah!
Firefly was when Joss Whedon really hit his stride as a TV writer/creator. I could say a bunch of other things, too, but other posters have already filled you in, madcam. The "cowboys in space" description is an accurate one, but it always makes me think of that song (I don't know the title) where the guy says, "Some people call me a space cowboy....." Does that happen to anybody else? If you're nervous because you hated Caleb, don't be. Mal is awesome. and so is Zoe. And Wash. And River. And everybody.

A world full of yes.
Buffy was my intro into the Whedon verse, and it will always hold a very special place in my heart, but Firefly took everything that Joss knew about creating character dynamics, mixed with humorous dialog, and an insanely original plot and made it better. It's just sad that Fox didn't give it the chance it deserved because it is the complete package....If you are a Joss fan, you can't help but love the dialog and witty puns, let alone the fact that they are given by some of the most amazing, and underrated actors that have EVER graced television. I'm just a bit of a fan, but for someone that already loves Buffyverse, it will make you even more of a Joss lover...I promise!!!
Yep, "Waiting in the Wings." Chronologically, that was before Firefly, and that's how she ended up getting the job as River. I think Joss likes to hire dancers.River was also the lead dancer in on Angel epsiode
Yay! I like your sushi analogy. Keep us updated as you watch the episodes! I can't wait to see what you think.Ok people......I am going to try it. I love the writing on Joss' shows. Kinda looking at it as like the first time I tried sushi. People told me it was really good and even though I knew what I was getting into and was really unsure about the whole thing, I tried it anyway because I love asian food. Well now I am a huge sushi fan (even though I don't count the first time I had it as great because I bought it at Super Target.....bad idea) I will let you know how it goes. DH is going out of town tomorrow for a week so I will need something to keep me busy in the evenings. I could catch up on house work.........nah!
