Buffy/Angel/Firefly Fan Thread

I was a fan of all three TV shows and I've read all of Buffy Season 8 to date (and all of Fray, for that matter).

Buffy- I can say I was into this show pretty much from the start, since my first exposure to it was the initial airing of the second episode. Favorite episodes are the final episode of Season 2 and "Once More with Feeling". The comics, so far, are good (and for any who have been reading them and who might be fans of other genres...anyone else catch the Doctor Who reference in the latest one?).

Angel- Did not like this show as much as Buffy. Perhaps it was because I could not, for the life of me, believe the Angel/Cordelia subplots. Ugh. Plus, there's the whole "How does Joss know who my favorite characters are and why does he always kill them off?" problem. And killing Lila and Westley in the same season was just too much. "Smiletime" was definitely the most fun episode.

Firefly- Yep, this one hooked me right from the start. Loved it. Bought it. Put up with my even more obsessed friend's constant reference to it. Funny, I don't think anyone here has yet mentioned Serenity...which is good, since I generally pretend that the movie doesn't exist.

I watched the whole season. I think I've been scarred for life. Oh, the boringness! I used to complain about Dawn on Buffy, but she's awesome compared to the Connor horror!

I couldn't agree more. I hated Dawn when she first came on the show, but they managed to get her storyline to work and not be so annoying. But Connor was always annoying, especially with the whole Jasmine story line. One good thing about the Whedonverse though, he always finds a spot for his favorites in his shows. When Firefly went away, those actors popped up on Buffy and Angel. I LOVED Nathan as the reverend in Buffy.

Lilah and Wesley didn't die in the same season of Angel. Did you mean Fred and Wesley? That was sad.
Why don't you like Serenity, ZephyrHawk?

Everyone keeps mentioning Smile Time as their favorite Angel episode. Who else liked "Spin the Bottle"? I think that's my favorite comedic one. It's the one where Lorne's spell/potion reverts everyone's memories back into teenagers.

DS(13) and I were at a Comic book show a few weeks ago
We stood in line for over 2 hours to get
Charisma Carpenters autograph
Ds had her sign it
Hello salty goodness

We meet James a few years ago

we were at the same comic book show and we went to the back were
he was coming in to do his show
He stopped to talk to us
DS shook his hand and he let him take a photo of him
oh Heart be still:love:

I loved Nathan on Buffy too. Adam Baldwin was cool as Marcus Hamilton on Angel, but I liked the character of Jayne better. Even Gina Torres took the crap that was the Jasmine storyline and made it more tolerable. Did you know they originally wanted Morena Baccarin to play Eve on Angel?

Also, has anybody heard that Charisma Carpenter is going to be on Celebrity Apprentice?

I was a major Buffy fan from the 1st season. Honestly, I only have seasons 1-3 on DVD. I just didn't care enough about seasons 4-7 to buy them. While there were some really great episodes in seasons 4-7, the overall feel of the show just wasn't the same after David, Charisma, (and pretty much) Joss left the show to start Angel.

I couldn't ever get into Angel. I didn't think that they remained true to either character of Angel or Cordelia. Also, Angel was much more Sci-Fi than Buffy ever was. To me, Buffy had more of a fun horror feel to it.

I never saw Firefly. I think I'll give it a try one day.

Who here has the "Once More with Feeling" CD?
Of course! I love Anya's tirade about bunnies! :rotfl:

I didn't mind Dawn when she first started on the show. Then she went into that whole 'I'm an angsty teen and now I'm not even human. Oh woe is me. Listen to me make ear piercing screams' bit. I reach through the tv and back hand her. Then she got better in Season 7 and didn't bother me as much.

Connor on the other hand bothered me from the moment he appeared until the moment he left. I couldn't even watch. I almost didn't watch the last season because I had a fear he would be back.

Any fans of "Drive" before it went poof?

Not only was it good to see Nathan on TV again, we actually liked the show.

I was/am a huge Buffy fan but I still haven't watched Season 7. :sad2: I never lived in an area that had WB or UPN so I always had to watch repeats on another channel. I have all 7 seasons on DVD and can't bring myself to watch it end. I keep putting it off! It's probably in my top 5 series of all time though.

As for Angel, I've watched on and off but again since I didn't get those channels I wasn't able to watch consistently. I have all the DVD's on my Netflix queue but I keep bumping them down.

I did love Firefly though! :thumbsup2

How the heck did I miss this thread?!? I'm a HUGE HUGE Buffy/Angel/Firefly fanatic! Love them all in different ways.

You asked, should you be reading the comics.. a huge YES!!!!!! They are great! It's like having the show back! And even more exciting there will be an Angel Season 6 comic. Joss signed off on it even though he's not going to be writing it like he is with the Buffy S8 comics, he still has a pretty huge say in things with A S6.

I have OMWF cd and dd and I listen to it all the time in the car!

Every time Connor and Dawn are on either of the shows we always go "Waaaaaaaaaah" just because they are both so whiney!

Of course! I love Anya's tirade about bunnies! :rotfl:
That's my favorite moment, except for "I think this line's mostly filler" and "His (blank) got diseases from a Chumash tribe!" I saw a book on Chumash Indians at the library the other day, and I couldn't stop giggling. The whole episode that line refers to ("Pangs") is hysterical. That's how I learned Thanksgiving is a ritual sacrifice with pie. :lmao: Anya was the funniest character ever.

I liked it too. Fox is evil. Why must they cancel all that is awesome? Other than Drive/Firefly, I liked Arrested Development.

Good to hear another comic review. I might have to pick up an issue.

OMWF is the only CD we listen to in our car. Everyone knows all the words. It's funny to see little boys singing "Going Through the Motions." Doesn't Joss Whedon's wife have a beautiful voice?

Firefly is my favorite of the three. I have watched all the episodes of Buffy and Angel but not until they were in syndication. I do have OMWF on my I-pod, that was a great episode.

Oh how we hated Dawn. She was horrible. The whole "key" thing was just sooooo stupid. That being said, that year was like Emmy worthy compaired to the year of Connor.:sad2:

I really wish those shows. I have never seen Firefly. Is it as good as you all say? If you had to put them in order, where would it be.... Best to worst TV show.

I love Anya too! Great character!! I actually just saw the episode that has her sing about bunnies.... too funny.:lmao:

For me, it would be as follows:
1. Buffy
2.Firefly
3.Angel
If Firefly had gone on for seven seasons like Buffy, it might be number one on my list. It's a different tone than Buffy, but it's still clearly a Whedon show. make sure to watch the show before you watch the movie, because the movie takes place after the show.

I was going to respond to this with a good Anya quote, but I couldn't pick one! Pretty much anything she ever said about money was comedy gold. And her comment about Dawn not being good for anything (said when she was listing off attributes of various Scooby Gang members) was funny because it's true.

ETA: This is my 150th post!

I love all three shows! I am actually watching Buffy right now!:lmao:

I was a Buffy fan from the time the first episode aired. I never watched Angel regularly but I ended up renting the DVD's a few years ago and I love that show as well but it is no Buffy.

I discovered Firefly through my dad. I never even knew it existed when it was on tv. He loaned me the episodes and I loved it so much that I went out and bought it for myself. I also own all 7 seasons of Buffy but none of Angel yet.

Ok, I have to ask. Relationship wise, where do you all stand? I am a Buffy/Angel girl forever. I really wanted them to do a finale where they got back together somehow, working together to kick the butt of evil.

Buffy and Angel by far..... I couldn't stand it when she was with Spike.
