I was a fan of all three TV shows and I've read all of Buffy Season 8 to date (and all of Fray, for that matter).
Buffy- I can say I was into this show pretty much from the start, since my first exposure to it was the initial airing of the second episode. Favorite episodes are the final episode of Season 2 and "Once More with Feeling". The comics, so far, are good (and for any who have been reading them and who might be fans of other genres...anyone else catch the Doctor Who reference in the latest one?).
Angel- Did not like this show as much as Buffy. Perhaps it was because I could not, for the life of me, believe the Angel/Cordelia subplots. Ugh. Plus, there's the whole "How does Joss know who my favorite characters are and why does he always kill them off?" problem. And killing Lila and Westley in the same season was just too much. "Smiletime" was definitely the most fun episode.
Firefly- Yep, this one hooked me right from the start. Loved it. Bought it. Put up with my even more obsessed friend's constant reference to it. Funny, I don't think anyone here has yet mentioned Serenity...which is good, since I generally pretend that the movie doesn't exist.

I never lived in an area that had WB or UPN so I always had to watch repeats on another channel. I have all 7 seasons on DVD and can't bring myself to watch it end. I keep putting it off! It's probably in my top 5 series of all time though.
Anya was the funniest character ever.
