When would the best lowest prices be to book Buffalo to Orlando. We live in Canada and its cheaper overall to fly out of Buffalo.
We are going end of April.
And what's the best airline to book on? I've never flown out of Buffalo before, but people says its easy !
Thanks

I live in Buffalo so I fly out of there all the time. I find Southwest to have the best prices to Orlando. I think Jet Blue gets some good deals too, but I love Southwest :lovestruc

For my upcoming trip I booked about 6 weeks out for $67 each way. After taxes etc...the roundtrip was about $298.

For Southwest as soon as you see the airfare go like $75 or below book your flight. If the flights later go less you can get a credit for the difference that's good for a year.

We fly BUF-MCO on Southwest several times a year. Depending on season, there are 3 or 4 daily non stop flights as well as connections through BWI. The non stop flights put you in Orlando in 2.5 hours.

Buffalo airport is very easy to use.

Right now, there are quite a few April options at $64 one way.

Another WNYer here.
I have flown non-stop from BUF to MCO on both Southwest and Airtran. JetBlue also has direct flights. All have their good and bad elements but I for late April, I would pick based on which airline gets you the best deal on a non-stop flight.
Southwest - lacks assigned seating, but usually has the best deals (I'm flying nonstop next weekend for $145 round trip)
Airtran- often has good deals and assigned seating, but their schedules change constantly and they often forget to notify you (I've had this on three separate trips)
JetBlue - I find them the nicest by far, some good deal, but I try to avoid them as they fly through JFK, which seems to back up schedules, even when flying direct.
And, of course, there are Delta, Northwest, Continental that all have connecting flights.
BUF is a relatively small airport, quite easy to navigate inside and for parking and very easy to get to from all three bridges. If you have a super early morning flight and aren't "just across the border" there are several hotels across the street.

JetBlue does have a couple or 3 direct flights to MCO daily out of BUF.

At least 2 during February because we're on one of them.

Edited to add that on Airtran you have to pay for luggage and you have to pay to pick your seats. This is a difference of $21 per person. So although sometimes JetBlue may be a few dollars more, they don't charge for luggage and you can pick a seat for free (unless you want extra leg room).

Sounds like we should have a Buffalo DIS meet... who knew there were so many of us here?

We now live in Syracuse (originally from the Buffalo area) but we fly out of Buffalo because it is so much cheaper than Syracuse.... Rochester is even better!!!

Can you tell me about SouthWest and how it works? I have heard that you may or may not sit with your kids or board with them. Although they are cheapest so far, I can not even phathom allowing my child to board a plane without us.

What are the chances that you would sit and board with your child. I think its ridiculous way to board a plane.
That's my only fear with SW.

Southwest boarding is truly ridiculous, but it's not as bad as the rumors. Here's how it works:

1. Southwest boards its planes in three and a half groups. First are the people with "A" boarding passes (more on those in a second), then families with children under four (?), then "B" boarding passes, then "C" boarding passes There are a total of 60 passes in each group). There are no specific assigned seats - you can sit in any available seat once you're on the plane.

2. You are assigned a boarding pass group and number when you check in online. This is the tricky part, because people who REALLY want to board forst will be at their computers at exactly 24 hours before the flight, to make sure they get "A" passes. SW no offers Early Bird Checkin, where for $10 per ticket per flight, they'll automatically check you in 10 hours early (which they say does not guarantee an "A" pass.

3. At the gate, there are posts with numbers on them. When the flight is ready to board, those with A passes line up by number near the posts that include their number (so pass #34 lines up near the post that says #30-35.) Then they board. Then the families, then the B passes, then the C passes. If you have C passes, you may not be able to sit together. With A passes you will, and with B passes you might.

This all sounds a lot more complicated than it really is, but it's still a huge PITA. HTH

Southwest really is the best deal. Just get your butt online 24 hours before to check in and you will be fine. I have witnessed people getting up and moving to other seats to allow people with C boarding passes to sit with their children. I know I wouldn't want to sit next to someone's unsupervised kid. LOL :goodvibes

I am also from Canada and am going to Florida in April. We booked with Southwest as they had the lowest rates and direct flights. All five of us for under $900. Don't worry about Sotuhwest boarding procedures, it isn't that hard just check-in online as soon after 24 hours prior to the flight that you can.

ok thanks. I can see that SouthWest has the lowest fare most definately. I just don't want my kids sitting next to strangers, they are only 5 & 6.

We have flown for the past 3 years out of Buffalo too. We love Jetblue and had only 1 problem with them the first year. I really like the planes and the t.v.'s are a bonus for the kids. The staff is great and most pilots are comedians and make the trip very pleasant. Were flying Jetblue again in March too.:yay:

Flying out on Saturday via Southwest. We are also from Buffalo. Must remember to checkin on line tomorrow morning.

Hmmmmmmmmmm they are right maybe we need a DIS meet here in Buffalo some time.

always use SW to MCO at least 10 times --since they have been in Buffalo and my kids were young too-now they are 12 and 15 and like to sit together a row up or two from mom and dad.-lol
love SW ---no fees for bags and fun flight attendants-never left us stranded or late on either end never lost luggage
if you book the tickets all at once its one check in #. Just make sure to do it 24 hrs ahead. with the new numbering system its not so bad. Plus it is to and from Buffalo--:wizard:- city of good neighbors---I have never seen a young family have to split up ---someone always has moved to accomodate if that happens :thumbsup2 Buffalo Dis meet.......::yes::
